Only privileged and racist people can't see that they are privileged and racist. Only privileged ignorant and racist hypocritical people can't see that they are privileged ignorant and racist hypocritical. There, I fixed it for you.

My go to reply on this is, "I usually only buy drinks for women that I'm sleeping with." This leaves the possibility that sometimes I do buy drinks for women that I'm not sleeping with, but shoves the quid pro quo transaction of paying for their time back in their face. 9 out of 10 times they shut up and walk away. Occasionally it has started a conversation. Exactly as intended, it filters out the cruft.

People dont take the MBTI seriously anymore. Look at the "Big 5" personality traits or five factor model for what are considered the major discriminators between personalities. MBTI and the Big 5 might share some dimensions like introversion and extroversion. My MBTI is ENTJ, and I was and am a leader at work, but I was a blue pilled idiot when married for 20 years. So clearly those dimensions of my personality did not traverse my work and home relationships.

You apparently aren't in "automotive repair," are you? Me personally, I do not do automotive repair as a profession. I do however take a weekend approach to my own shade-tree automotive customization and modifications, and during these activities I have taken my various vehicles to dozens of speciality shops that do wheels and tires, suspension, exhaust, paint, interior, electronics, machine shops, rebuild shops and just general automotive maintenance or parts and supply shops. I'm thinking of a…

Socrates had some truths, but was full of his own bullshit... just like Plato had some truths... just like Aristotle... just like Descartes... Hobbes... Locke... Newton... Voltaire... Hume... Freud... Einstein... Hawking... repeat ad naseum they were and are full of shit, although have brought insight, and they have all pandered to not so great people. separate the medium from the message from the members

I hear what you are saying, and in general agree about the average Rand-ian. I suppose I always interpreted her ideas as the first images of what would now be call Volunteerism, where all interactions were voluntary. However, I think her ideas get splashed with the fact that too many people use Rand to somehow justify their douche behavior. thanks for the clarification

Its the old point that in a relationship a man’s status raises a woman’s, but a woman’s status doesn’t raise a man’s. What is the title to the wife of the king? Queen. What is Queen Elizabeth’s (II, the current one) husband’s title? Prince, Duke, maybe even a Lord in there, etc. noticeably absent King.

I don't have a horse in the race of Objectivism or Ayn Rand, but would like some clarification on her being an idiot. Is it that Rand plagiarized her ideas of Objectivism? Is it that Objectivism isn't a significant or unique philosophy? Is it that historically, while novel at the time Objectivism was interesting, it has been shown to be a rather silly idea? If I had said, "Ada Lovelace", or "Mary Shelley" what would have been your response? Just curious about your uninformative dismissive statem…

I will address the physically low quality idea later, but the Alpha Fucks versus Beta Bucks traits exist as a spectrum and I would conjecture that there is nothing wrong with exhibiting all the aspects of BB in an environment that is highly adaptive to K-selection AND that enforces mate fidelity. In this thought experiment, just start with a typically fit and physically normal male and for every "extreme" AF trait substitute an equivalent "extreme" BB trait, and let the female choose. normal guy…

I'm not going to debate whether Objectivism is a significant or original thought in the philosophical traditions, but Ayn Rand comes to mind. However, the point is clear, for the exceptional contributions made by dozens if not hundreds of men, you can point to one or a small number of women. Of course, scream the replies, its because patriarchy. Its the same patriarchy that keeps women out of construction, landscaping crews, automotive repair or now combat infantry you have the same ratios of hu…

according to you, “a calorie is a calorie” fats provide 9kcal/gram proteins 4kcal/gram carbohydrates 4kcal/gram in a diet of 2000 kcal I’ll give you 300 kcal of protein and 200 kcal of fat for essential amino acids and fatty acids required for human life. each of the diets below assume this: 20 grams fat ~200kcal, 72 grams protein ~300kcal, leaving an unmet caloric need of 1500kcal, so according to you these iso-caloric diets (plus the above 500kcal of essential proteins and fatty acids) are the…

Here's the study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9311957 quote"The macronutrient profile of this diet would be as follows: 2.5% energy as fat, 24.3% protein, 15.8% available carbohydrate, with potentially 57.3% of metabolizable energy from short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) derived from colonic fermentation of fiber. Gorillas would therefore obtain considerable energy through fiber fermentation. We suggest that humans also evolved consuming similar high foliage, high fiber diets, which were low …

Cancer also loves glucose, so you've got that in common.

Let's recap. your point: "a calorie is a calorie" my point: " a calorie is not a calorie" I say that carbohydrates, proteins and fats are not interchangeable energy units as they change what you body does with them as nutrients and in the context the body sees them. In the same way that all carbohydrates are not the same, Glucose, sucrose, HFCS, starches, fibers. All of these are carbs, all have different reactions when seen by your gut. Fats, same thing. PUFA, MUFA, EPA, DHA, trans, some are pr…

Someone did a nutritional analysis of a low land gorilla diet and concluded that just over half of its available calories would be from the colonic fermentation of dietary fibers by gut bacteria into short chained fatty acids. So calories from carbs, yes, but in the form of fermented fibers not sugars or starches. Our and gorilla guts are different, I believe gorillas are somewhat intolerant to dietary cholesterol, like rabbits, but its an interesting observation that even among our closest prim…

In fact, there is plenty fossil evidence that humans have been responsible for the extinction of many species as we moved around the globe (mammoth, bison, etc) The over-hunting theory is currently being challenged by evidence of a comet (or comets) impact 12,800 years ago, nano diamonds and iridium in the Pleistocene/Holocene boundary layer are consistent with a big space rock hitting the earth and causing the mass extinctions in north america and Siberia as well as the melting of the north ame…

Not an argument. When people say "a calorie is a calorie" what they generally mean is that after you meet your general requirements for essential proteins and fats that all calories in the form of carbs or proteins or fats are fungible, or equally interchangeable. The premise is that calories are now equal energy units and you can get them in the form of fat or protein or carbohydrate with equal outcomes. A simple thought experiment for a 200lb person is 90kg, needs about 72grams of protein and …

a calorie is not a calorie. I dont want to quibble about the idea that eating 3000 kcal a day and burning 2500 kcal a day will not cause you to gain weight, the same as eating 1500 kcal a day of almost any macro content and burning 2500 kcal will cause you to lose weight. I want to point out these ideas. 1) time restriction: eat X kcals over 24 hours versus eat X kcals in 10 hours and fast every day for 14 hours. It has been shown that intermittent fasting on the same caloric diet, in general pe…

IIFYM a calorie is not a calorie, metabolically, neurologically, prebiotically. When I ate a "healthy whole grained" diet including rice, pasta, potato, but no processed sugars I had inhibited weight loss, I had chronic Candida skin infections and food cravings after eating. When I switched to 50g or lower carbs daily, ketogenic diet I lost weight, no food cravings, skin infections cleared up, my dietary fiber went up and my gut health improved. I'm not arguing against the 2nd law of thermodynam…

I agree and will parallel this comment. I am also 49, recently divorced from a 20 year marriage and recovering from that 40 lb weight gain. After the divorce I noticed several "prediabetic" symptoms and after buying a blood glucose meter I found that I am profoundly carbohydrate intolerant. I never had much of a sweet tooth, but a basket of salty french fries would find its way in my world once a month. No more. If I eat a starch in the form of a potato, brown rice, whole grain pasta or any othe…

Agreed, and sometimes you can get a decent price for an "introductory" consult. When I did my own divorce (20 year marriage) and consulted with a local divorce attorney for an hour for $200, I had a dozen questions all written out that I wanted some clarity on before deciding whether to put a $5k retainer down for the attorney or doing my own divorce Pro Se. $200 for an initial consult can resolve a large number of questions.

where I am from, USA, Texas, common law marriage requires that the couple present themselves to the community as being married. So unless you introduce yourselves as, "this is my wife Betty" rather than "this is my girlfriend Betty" you won't fit the definition of common law. I think this is a fairly common definition of the common law marriage in most of the US states, but I know Canada's definition is much more variable province to province. The point being that it pays to know your local laws…

agreed its "her" money and its entitlement. When I got divorced, after 20 years of marriage, from a wife who worked zero and we had no kids, she brought up the fact that her parents helped us buy our first house with a downpayment help of $10K. Nevermind the fact that I paid every mortgage, water, sewer, electrical, nat gas, insurance, cell phone, property tax, etc. etc. bill for 20 years. I put that extra $10K into the metric fuck ton of money she got at the end, almost $450K, into the lesson l…

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Unlike amino acids and fats, there are no essential carbohydrates. Your liver is able to make glucose via gluconeogenesis, if it isn't available in the diet. There is growing evidence that sugars in the diet (even complex carbohydrates in the form of starches) are directly responsible for metabolic syndrome (heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, etc.) in a significant fraction of the population that is sensitive to excess carbohydrates in the diet. See recent work by Jeff Volek and Steve Phin…

Mate jealousy is common in women, and it appears to be more associated to "emotional" commitment by the male to another female rather than physical infidelity by the male to another female. In short, you have a better chance triggering this response by liking a mutual friends photo on FB rather than taking the mutual friend to the NoTell Motel. How do you deal with these behaviours, like irrational jealousy or fears of abandonment? Don't take them seriously, exaggerate them to the point that the…

You made me think about Babylonian law, the code of Hammurabi, and that transfer of wealth from father to support the daughter in marriage, the dowry, was well established and documented. Women have had quantifiable items associated with them for a while. Not a big stretch to think this conversation took place 4000 BCE: A: What do you think of Jane, she comes with 6 cows? B: I like Mary better, and her 9 cows. give it a few thousand years, lose the dowry, and we get HB6 and HB9

I remember as a kid in the 70's seeing a group of 4 or 5 guys with the flip style gymnastics score cards on Newport beach near the pier and they were "scoring" the girls walking by. Their shtick was one guy would always low-ball, so it would be: 8.4, 8.3, 7.9, 8.5 and 2.5. The movie "10" with Bo Derek came out in 1979, so I think this stuff goes back a while gentlemen.

/ignores the always sage advice to not feed the trolls/ |Environment matters very little. Ever try to grow rice in the desert? Go read "Guns Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond and present your counter argument that Environment matters very little. Pitbull is not a breed, it is slang name for a group of dog breeds which include "American Pit Bull Terrier" and "American Staffordshire Terrier", among others. As "Terriers" they are working dogs, focused and determined in their personalities. The American Pit Bull Terrier was bred to be "dog aggressive", but not "human aggressive" and the American Staffordshire Terrier was bred to have a similar look at the Pit Bull, but also not human aggressive. Why breed for non-human aggression you ask? Be…
