I would never get married again. I lost everything and half of my retirement because my x walked. In NY State there’s nothing to stop a woman from serving you with a divorce. I would understand if she was in poverty, abused, cheated on or something like that but that’s not the case. A lot of women feel like it is the husband fault that they are not twenty years old anymore and they feel like they lost their youth. So the y walk...now I’m never going to retire because I can’t afford it.

Same boat... but I lost my job as well. This was three years ago. I’m not going to blow smoke but it’s hard and depressing every day.... but believe me that it gets gradually better and you will all of a sudden find yourself a new life. It’s a different chapter but it’s going to be ok. Force yourself to get fresh air in your lungs and mind. Read books. Learn new things. Don’t be hard on yourself because you are amongst many men like you going through the same thing.

Because I had to pay alimony ( approximately 150k US) I chose to give her my equity in the home. I did not want to sell it for the sake of my daughter because she still lived there.
