I mean, it’s fine if his home is like that, just don’t be surprised when you’re single and have no friends because no grown ass self respecting adult wants to sit on your nasty ass carpet.

I would say that he IS future faking by saying he doesn't want a relationship YET and wants to take it slow FOR NOW. Meaning, that he's hoping some much younger woman will think that she can be the one to change him and he'll just keep saying things like, it's too soon, let's see where things go, maybe in a few years I can see us being exclusive, etc, etc.

Yeah, that's where I am at. I know it's not something done maliciously or even consciously. It doesn't make me feel like crap or anything, but it's just something I've noticed that feels unnecessary and off, and I've never felt like bringing up unnecessarily. I know they aren't racist in the first place, so I wouldn't want to shame them for something relatively innocuous and well-intentioned.

Thanks for the input. Do you remember doing it to "prove" that you weren't racist? Did your storytelling change depending on the race of your audience? I got that "sassy black woman" vibe, too, which is why the mention of race stood out to me and it reminded me of my white friends who mention race unncesarily, without pointing out explicit stereotypes which doesn't come off as nefarious, but still rubs me the wrong way. I hesitate to call it out because as I mentioned earlier, POCs (especially t…

I've thought about it more, and I wonder if they do it around me to prove that they're not racist and one of the good ones because they know other POCs other than me. I didn't consider whether or not my being part of the audience had an impact on the story, but someone else's comment made me wonder if it was meant to pander to me. I obviously didn't think my white friends were racist in the first place, but it feels weird to think they might just be trying to overcompensate to the point that it …

Ahaha, exactly why I said "occasional." Chances are they post it without even realizing it's radfem. I haven't been on there in a while, but I unsubbed several months ago because it started to no longer align with my beliefs.

Slightly off topic, but I've noticed that when I'm listening to a story told from the perspective of a white American, they tend to disclose the race of another party mentioned in the story only if it's different from their own, even when the race of the person doesn't seem relevant to the impact of the story. Is this something others have noticed? Or do you happen to do this? I'm thinking it's a subconscious thing since many white people are used to seeing themselves portrayed in media and bein…

Exactly. Because when you say no, they will say "I was just saying hypothetically!!! I didn't actually mean it!!" and try to paint you as this crazy, irrational mess. But if you were to say yes, they'll have a list of 5 people they're already thinking of asking.

Agreed. If a partner every even mentioned the words "open relationship," "poly," or "threesome," just hypothetically, I wouldn't even give them a chance to explain--it'd be my queue to go. The only reason someone would want any of this is because they feel that what they currently have isn't enough. So if I'm not enough, let me get out of your way so you can find "enough." Miss me with that BS.

I remember that one! Except I honestly thought that she just found ONE man who actually treated her right and dedicated her time to him because frankly women aren't as degenerate as men like this. We have compassion and need fulfillment in relationships. Constant hookups don't benefit women in any way. If she was going out for random hookups every day, she'd be emotionally exhausted. The fact that she kept doing it looking happy and fulfilled implies it was just one person.

Take care of yourself. Depending on the COVID situation, there might be options to continue online? Otherwise, many other schools are doing online courses, so transferring could happen more easily than usual. If it's at all possible, can a family member come pick you up after the surgery and escort you on the airplane home? One particular thing that made me appreciate him was that he helped my mom move. There weren't many of us, either, so it was a ton of work. The HV thing about it was that I didn't even have to ask. I mentioned that my mom was moving at the end of the month and he immediately asked me: what time should he be there and if he should go borrow a truck to help us out. 9 AM move-in day, there he was, eager and ready to go. There are more wonderful things about him, but that in particular stood out to …

Engineers. Previously on OLD, they would say they want a smart woman with whom to "have intellectual conversations," yet when they find out I'm an engineer and I know that they're just spewing bs straight from r/iamverysmart, they suddenly think I'm ugly and boring. Engineers are so needlessly self important and arrogant. It's not that hard. Sure. let's undo centuries of work in women's liberation. While we're at it, let's make sure women can no longer leave the home unaccompanied by a man, can no longer have bank accounts, credit cards, or property under their own name, and forbid them from any type of access to reproductive health. /s Funny because if these women had it their way, they probably wouldn't even be able to HAVE a social media account where they could post and share these harmful opinions. More like men don't even bother trying to know and understand women. As soon as a woman does anything that isn't meant to cater towards men, it's suddenly, "Women are too complicated! She has daddy issues! She's on her period!" I love how many men like to LARP as women to further their silly agendas and encourage women to become pickmes. I think the best giveaway is, "As a female... [insert wildly misogynistic thought]. Haha, not like other girls!"

If a man only "loves" you because of what you do for him and not your personality, interests, humor, and literally everything else about you, then he doesn't love you. You want a man who has stars in his eyes when he looks at you doing nothing but sitting around watching netflix with a runny nose and a barricade of used tissues around you when you're sick.

Yeah, early 20s were my pickme-peak years too. Our brains are still developing up to age 25, so it's understandable. She's just young and naive. Ages 23-24 were very transformative for me, and except for a few hobbies, I'm a completely different person at 25 than I was at 23, just a two year difference. My humor, personality, moral values, goals and aspirations, my career, my conduct, even my appearance are unrecognizable. I wouldn't wish those pickme years on anyone, but they can serve as an op…

I knew a guy who played lots of video games in college, and I happened to notice that one of his teammates was very obviously a woman, and the most skilled. Her username was something like "cherrygarcia," a ben and jerry's flavor, and her character was a woman. As a woman who has played video games, these things don't necessarily mean she's a woman since lots of men like playing with "sexy female characters" to oggle, but what confirmed it was when my friend told me, "Yeah, he never speaks on GC…

Agreed. I got my BSME in MechEng and Math and it was incredibly brutal. I go to a different school for my MSIE in Industrial Engineering and it's so much easier that I'm suspicious. My alma mater was much more rigorous, plus Industrial Engineering is far easier than Mechanical Engineering or Math. It really depends on the place and subject. It's more like, men want a woman who is smart enough to understand that he's smart, but not smart enough to know he's full of shit. It's like when you were a kid and you think you're a math wiz because you know your times tables, and then you get to high school calculus where you now know enough to realize you suck at math.

That's actually pretty cute considering it's his job, so kissing someone on screen shouldn't mean anything anyway. It was sweet to bring his wife into it when given the choice. Probably made the scene feel more genuine, too.

Turned 33 at 18, I'm fuckin' dead. I know a guy just like this. Balding at 21. Straight up looked like he was twice my age, despite us being the same age. Women at 25 are already considering settling down. I've been looking to settle since I was 23. I just turned 25 and have been in a relationship for a year with plans of getting engaged within the next few months. Something similar happened to me when I was in my early 20s. We were going to an international festival and then he stood me up, so I took myself around all the exhibits, tried all the foods, and bought myself cute things. I loved the place so much, I invited my friends to come check it out with me the next day! I definitely wouldn't have appreciated its charm as much as I did if I were too busy trying to make small talk with some asshole.

Don't like most of these. They do have standards. That's why men only show basic kindness to women they want to sleep with. Men have a hard time dating an equal or someone above them because they're insecure. They say they want a successful intelligent woman, but the caveat is that she must be smart, but not smarter than him, etc. Sexual compatibility, i.e. coerce women into sex early on so that you can juggle several women and eventually pick whichever one gives you the most while you put in th…

Every morning, the guys at work smoking before the shift open the door for me. I don't know their names, but I do recognize them, so perhaps they aren't perfect strangers. The exact last time from a perfect stranger, I don't remember. A relationship should add something to your life. If you're noticing that you are no longer at your best when in a certain relationship, then it's not a healthy relationship. I am at my best physically, mentally, and emotionally right now with my boyfriend than I was when I was single. It's not because I was doing poorly when I was single, but it's because I was doing so well, why would I ruin it for a shitty relationship? We both inspire each other to be better. We can both be great on our own,…

I'll raise you one. I have a suspicion that my ex encouraged my morbid obesity and sabotaged my weight loss efforts to make sure I was too insecure to leave. Funny that 3 years later people I hadn't seen since our break up don't even recognize me after the transformation I went through. I also completely reversed the health issues I had during that relationship such as: knee pains, fatty liver disease, prediabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and perpetually sprained ankles.

Agreed. Besides, how are pants more comfortable than a flowy summer dress? I go out of my way to find cute summer dresses because it's my go to "low effort" outfit. Paired with some lip gloss to keep my lips moist, I can't be anymore comfy than that. If I really wanted to dress like a stunner, out comes the body con skirt, body suit, cat-eye eyeliner and bronzer, curling iron, and heels. Sad that our comfy "low effort" styles are still too much for these LVM.

All these suggestions are great, but on your end don't forget to play dumb fox. You don't wanna reveal your hand and accidentally give him the roadmap on how to get in your pants dishonestly. You want to see how he truly feels and who he is. If you give too much info, he may just say exactly what you want to hear so he can get what he wants.

Exactly. The first time you hurt someone unintentionally, it's unintentional. But once you know what you did is wrong, if you ever do it again, you are aware of it and it has become intentional. 2 times is enough for a pattern. My original point was, though, that OP says when a partner actively hurts you, they don't love you. Whereas my point was that even if you are hurt unintentionally, that doesn't give your partner a pass. They may still love you, but it doesn't change the fact that you have…

Not everything we do is for attracting a man... do they not realize that women enjoy having basic necessities like food and shelter? Things that a university degree can provide for you! Not to mention, I can think of a couple of men who do find my degrees to be pretty valuable... my boss for example? I highly doubt that anyone would hire me to design heavy machinery running at 2000 F just for my looks...

While it's also important to consider that someone can love you while unintentionally hurting you, more people should understand that intention doesn't erase accountability. Just because someone didn't mean to hurt you, it doesn't mean you aren't hurt. It's okay to let someone go for unintentionally hurting you.

I can relate to not being sure if my gut instincts are out of whack, therefore it's not a bad idea to check in with others you can trust have your best interests at heart. The important thing though is that when you do look for supporting opinions, make sure that the person is someone who has a good track record in the first place. I think grandiose promises and monopolizing your time are indicators of love bombing. For example, making obvious jokes about marriage and growing old together--not a red flag, depending on both your senses of humor. The young woman from the Philippines was amazing! She was living in total poverty, a metal shack, no power, no running water, with her son and this man had all the resources to give her a much more "comfortable" life. She did not tolerate any of his controlling, negging behavior and called him out on it forcefully. Then when she saw that he wouldn't change, she ghosted him with no remorse. She was definitely HV. I find it fascinating how women on their periods get mocked for being emotional or condemned because it's "gross." That's biology, but we still have a responsibility to somehow control these involuntary processes inside of us. Yet, when it comes to defending actions and behaviors that are totally within men's control, "biology" absolves them of all responsibility. I think it's BS. In a long term relationship, it's not bad to treat each other sometimes. But it's really tacky to always ask your partner to pay half the bill. One of you either pays the whole thing or you do something cheaper. But if he's no longer putting effort, even if it's long term, that's no good. He should want to spoil you.
