You really don't seem to understand that SA survivors (a better word than victims) have a wide array of reactions, and many of them are unsure. A lot of them stay friends with their assailants for periods of time, there absolutely is uncertainty. And even if there isn't cut and dry assault, it sounds like OP didn't consent enthusiastically. While I'm not gonna argue "lock her up", you shouldn't have sex with someone who isn't consenting enthusiastically, that's fucked up.

It's not reality, though. You construct narratives just as much as the feminists do, you project wildly onto them. You're the one saying that I'm getting angry but you're the one swearing and telling me to get out while I'm linking actual studies.

So I think we agree! I'm going to be honest, if you couldn't tell, I'm not a huge fan of this subreddit. I believe that there's a lot of negative emotions and often the focuses are on narratives over growth. Just my two cents, but I find subreddits like /r/MensLib to be more helpful for my growth as a man, at least.

I mean, I have more credibility than you. I'm linking studies and making logic arguments, you're just saying "THOSE THINGS DON'T MATTER". You're calling me emotional but you're literally saying "get out of this subreddit, get off the internet, you're an idiot", do you not see the hypocrisy? You're right that this subreddit isn't the place for me, I think it's full of vitriol, entitlement and victimization, but I'm still able to have a civilized conversation on it. Unlike you, where you're litera…

The first list is pretty shitty, but being able to list a number of shitty women/feminists does not mean they are all bad. With a net that wide, you can find shitty people or groups that say fucked up things. I could find a LOT of shitty things said by men's rights activists. Also toxic masculinity is not a dig at men. The whole point is that it's the idea that men have to suck up their feelings, should always be aggressive and in control. It actually seeks to address the same issues that you're…

I think we agree on pretty much everything. On the last paragraph, my point is not that you can't be skeptical, but that "innocent until proven guilty" is different from "I am reserving judgement", the former effectively saying "the accusations mean nothing, I am siding with the accused until they are found guilty".
/r/MensRights06/10/21 07:36 AM

So false allegations are not that common. A useful article in Quartz by Sandra Newman points to research from the British Home Office showing that in the early 2000s, of the 216 cases that were classified as false allegations, only six led to an arrest. Of those, only two had charges brought against them and those two were found to be false. Moreover, official figures suggest the number of rapes and sexual assaults which are never reported or prosecuted far outweighs the number of men convicted …

Yes, I don't think you understand it, though. One person coming forward and saying "X person did Y to me" is not defamation, nor is other people saying "I believe X person". And actually, 30 accusations is entirely comparable to 1 accusation. It's literally, evidently quantifiable and comparable; one is exactly 30 times more accusations than the other. This can help illuminate differences of opinions. It sounds like we agree that 30 accusations is enough to be overwhelmingly certain, but disagre…

Innocent until proven guilty is under the eyes of the court. Accusations do not need to be believed automatically 100%, but they should count for something. I would hope that when Cosby had thirty-something women make seperate allegations agaimst him that you weren’t saying "he's innocent until found guilty", effectively saying that all of these women are confused or lying.
/r/MensRights05/10/21 10:24 PM
-1

The point is that when one person accuses another, they should be assumed to be neither guilty nor innocent. "Innocent until guilty" is under the eyes of the law, but not public opinion - an accuser should not be assumed to be lying until proven otherwise. Claiming a random person on the internet did it in an anonymous comment is not the same as a person coming forward publicly. Only a small percentage of allegations are found to be false. Seems like people on this sub are struggling with basic …

this instance of one celebrity abusing another verifiably proves that men are abused more the many studies that point to men commiting more domestic abuse than women are all meaningless because men underreport It's not about you being white, it's about the fragility. It's about the fact that you treat anecdotal evidence as factual and empyrical evidence as anecdotal. You're caught up in your feelings and think that the Heard/Depp case proves beyond a doubt that men have it worse and that men und…

Dude, you're so clearly choosing emotion over rationality. You assert that women's anger is far more common (with no proof) but just say "men underreporting abuse means your statistics are worthless. And the post you gender swapped isn't a big deal. It isn't misandry, your comment belongs on /r/fragilewhiteredditor. Repeat after me: your feelings are not facts, you have zero evidence that women's anger is far more common and accepted and yet you're treating it like a proven fact.

Yeah, people come and troll TwoX all the time... And I'm not against men discussing men's issues, I think it's great. But this isn't that, it's creating a harmful narrative of victimhood through misleading or outright false statements, and is turning oppression into a competition. That's why I find subs geared towards productive conversations like /r/menslib to be far healthier than bitter ones like this.

So your argument is that because women choose methods that are less consistently lethal than men do, that this undermines the argument that women are less suicidal than men? Are you listening to yourself???

I'm not mad, you're the one going all gung-ho in your accusations. I'm calmly debating and you're trying to gaslight me about my behaviour, calm down dude. FDT and 2X are wildly different subs, and I feel like I just linked evidence that highlights that MR is a lot more predicated on toxicity and victimhood than 2X is. Responding to comments in a public forum is not harassment. If I were inundating them with comments or demeaning them, that'd be one thing, but I'm engaging with people that have chosen to comment on a public forum, a lot of my conversations are people like you that are instigating their discussions with me. TwoX does have dogmatism and a victimhood mentality, but I think it's to a far greater extent. I find that this is a lot less toxic and self-victimizing than this. This post itself is not tr…

Except women have more suicidal attempts and ideation than men. They are raped significantly more. There is a severe motherhood penalty in effect. Stop ignoring all the facts that don't support your narrative that men are underprivileged.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 06:47 PM

Look at how overwhelmingly resistant you are to the idea that women are raped more than men, despite the overwhelming amount of evidence. You're simply nowhere near as skeptical for claims that suggest that men are at a disadvantage.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 06:45 PM

Only 2-10% of allegations are false. The system is MUCH more set up to disincentivize survivors from coming forward than it is propogating false allegations. Again, it's not just men that under-report rape. The RAINN institute found that the ratio was 8-9:1, so I don't think there's reason to believe men and women are sexually assaulted at similar rates, even if this ratio may underrepresent assaulted men to an extent.

*suffer more. OP put forward the idea that men are unequivocally survivors of domestic violence more often than women, which is very contested and should not be treated as a fact. And I agree that there are biases in self-eporting, but I don't believe it comes close to explaining the massive disparity in rape rates, which was roughly 8-9/1. I think there is such a consistent presence of evidence that women are raped significantly more that, even accounting for male under-reporting it I think we …

I also gave some concerning sexual violence, here's online harassment. Also this whole post is disingenuous, it passes off highly contested opinions like "men are raped as much" and "men suffer from domestic abuse" as facts. It ignores things like "women have more suicidal ideation and attempt suicide more" to focus on "men commit suicide more", an instance of clear bias. This entire post is not composed in a way to generate positive discussion but just further a problematic narrative of victimh…

Ah yes, using lone statistics to propagate a narrative. Forget that women have disadvantages in the workforce and are grossly underpresented in politics, that roughly 9/10 survivors of rape are female. In general, I would argue that women are less respected in public discourse and socialized to be submissive, men interrupt women far more than the inverse. No, this sub isn't about that. It's about creating a narrative of victimhood. Look at this post, it's not doing anything productive, it's just making really poor arguments for why men have it worse. And women get harassed constantly in online spaces, you have it backwards.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 04:15 PM

No, sorting by top all time, there's a remarkable distinction in the level of bitterness and breadth of conversation on this sub. TrollX has anger, but also support and useful info whereas this sub was largely taking snippets of media to create a narrative of victimhood.

I'm not trying to minimize mens issues, I love dicussing them on /r/menslib. I just think this post is terrible, its whole premise is not "it's terrible that men have high suicide rates, rates of homelessness, are discouraged from showing emotion" but rather "men have it worse in the following categories", while many important things are overlooked and some of the statements are outright false. I think the idea of compiling a list of ways in which men supposedly have it worse for its own sake is…

Yeah, there's some victimhood, a degree of echo-chamber-yness, but I would say that it pales in comparison to what's present here. If you scroll by top posts of all time, it's almost entirely outrage over largely anecdotal instances of injustice, whereas TwoX is demonstrably calmer and less focused on creating a narrative of "our gender has it worse".
/r/MensRights16/07/21 05:09 AM

You saying that doesn't make it true. Logic's not on your side. Also racism is still very alive.

Men are more likely to be victims of violence than women https://www.cbs.nl/en-gb/news/2018/51/fewer-women-than-men-fall-victim-to-violence I showed here why that is not a fact. Half of rape victims are male, https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/NISVS-StateReportBook.pdf I showed here why this is not a fact either. I don't need to disprove each point to show that this is a low-quality and heavily biased post. If you want to using your feelings over logic, you're free to do so.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 03:08 AM

No, I succeeded, you're not interested in listening to logic. I showed that points 15 and 19, that OP tries to present as "facts" that I have shown are not veracious in the comment I linked in my previous one.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 03:02 AM

FUCKING LISTEN. HOLY SHIT. I have already addressed all your points here but you keep sidetracking the discussion and pushing past what I say. My conclusion is that OP's post is misleading and disingenuous, based on two premises: 1) OP is choosing to highlight only categories where women are advantaged, and not disadvantaged. For instance, that men fight wars more often, but not that women are raped at a much higher rate. I have also included instances of men interrupting women much more than th…

That does not make what the OP posted as false or non factual I am arguing that this post is disingenuous in what it highlights versus what it ignores, as well as the fact that it asserts many "facts" whose veracity is very much contested. I presented proof in my hyperlinks for why it was contested that "men are raped as much" or "men are more likely to be survivors of domestic abuse", this is why I'm highlighting that her assertions are questionably true. What does trigger me is when I see many…
/r/MensRights16/07/21 02:15 AM

No, let's look at my point again. For instance, it highlights that men go to war much more than women, but ignores that women, much more than men, are survivors of sexual predation by these soldiers. It's about how OP is selectively highlighting issues where it seems like women are privileged, but ignoring dimensions that may suggest the inverse. They also source statistics from biased aspects - this contradicts the assertions that men are assuredly more often survivors of domestic abuse. Simila…

/r/MensRights16/07/21 12:04 AM
-14

It's not factual, it's intensely biased. For instance, it highlights that men go to war much more than women, but ignores that women, much more than men, are survivors of sexual predation by these soldiers. One of many instances of clear bias in this post.
/r/MensRights16/07/21 12:01 AM
0

Then why did you make this post? A lot of these things aren't actual instances of privilege, it's just building a case for why men have it worse. But you won't look at things like "M:F ratio of civilians raped by occupying forces" or "M:F ratio of sexual assaults in the military" that might not support your narrative as much as "women have never been asked to go to war". Men aren't victims, I say as a man.

Yeah, cuz other US presidents weren't violent and isolationist.
/r/MensRights28/04/21 07:37 AM

To answer your question, it's because a lot of this sub is toxic groupthink and playing the victim.
/r/MensRights28/04/21 07:14 AM

You're not a victim btw. A lot of your points are unsubstantiated and just really whiny and/or illogical. Points 27-30 read as incel-ey. Men face disadvantages, so do women. The idea that women can always show emotion without being judged, invariably (you do know that word means 100% of the time, that there isn't widespread female genital mutilation - You're just creating obtuse false narratives to pose as a victim.
/r/MensRights28/04/21 07:11 AM
1

I mean tbh I feel that way about this sub. It's all about men playing the victim and only highlighting ways in which men are disadvantaged (off of largely anecdotal evidence), instead of talking about solutions, exploring things together, providing support... Check the top posts of menslib this year, it's thoughtful, it's respectful, whereas this sub is just a cesspool of victim-playing and toxicity. You yourself seem like a bitter, anti-SJW type.
/r/PussyPass26/04/21 02:45 PM

Holy strawman, batman!!! Let's take a look at some of their posts... Sorting by their top posts of the past year, they seem to be supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, talking about how men are rarely seen as caretakers, how a boy should not considered "manly" for fighting off a dog. You're projecting these extreme views that highlight the fact you've spent so little time there. I've spent plenty, and while we do believe in patriarchy and privilege, I've never seen anything minimizing the agency of men…
/r/PussyPass25/04/21 04:23 AM

Because menslib isn't promoting a narrative. They're not arguing whether men or women have it worse. Yes, it is a feminist sub, there is the general belief in male privilege, but there's still acknowledgement of obstacles men face. Meanwhile you seem to believe that overall, men are victims of modern societies, women have tremendous privilege - maybe you even believe that women have it easier than men? These are all narratives, subjective beliefs predicated on feelings. A lot of your "facts" are…
/r/PussyPass24/04/21 05:54 AM

But fathers get rewarded and mothers get penalized, compared to non-parents who miss the same amount of time. It's about sexism, not about obfuscating your personal life. And I'm not saying everyone doesn't get talked over, I'm saying women get talked over more. By documenting court hearings, Jacobi and Schweers found that interrupting was indeed highly gendered, regardless of whether a woman was in a more senior role. Male justices interrupted female justices three times as often as the reverse…

That's not what most women or even most feminists think. You're the classic instance of a Dunning Kruger, someone who doesn't understand exactly how little he knows. /r/PurplePillDebate29/05/20 12:35 AM

If we agree that beyond that 2%, women are treated the same in the workforce. But that's not necessarily the case - that was the point I was making about mothers being penalized, fathers being rewarded, compared to non-parent women and men, for taking the same amount of time off.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/20 12:33 AM
3

I disagree with premise that women are privileged over men, I disagree that they are less reliable as workers. Both of these are merely claims. Lastly, the 2% is adjusted, but that's if we assume they have the same chance of getting to high-paying jobs if they put in the same amount of energy, work the same. But we know there is a double standard when it comes to mothers being handicapped and fathers being advantaged for taking the same amount of time off as non-parents.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/20 12:31 AM
1

That's a valid point, do you have a source for saying social media is where the vast majority of accusations are made.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/20 12:28 AM
1

I didn't say it was? I'm saying men just critcize Brie Larson for having an arrogant persona when RDJ gets praise and people like you who don't understand feminism brush it aside as toxic. How would you felt if I said men-centric forums like this are just toxic, sexist, incel-like that dehumanizes women. Your last sentence is as big and ignorant of a claim.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/20 12:15 AM
2

That's the point, you attribute it to asking for raises, I attribute it to things like women being talked over in meetings and being penalized for missing the same amount of time as non-mothers, whereas fathers get rewarded compared to non-fathers. It's not that the companies are obsessed with gender, but people do treat people differently based on gender and it can affect careers.

So instead of trying to find if studies that show the opposite exist, or realizing that my points can still be valid even if backed by one of two sources you disagree with, you choose not to change your mind because that would mean not being able to blame women or play the victim. I invalidate sources that don't correspond with my worldview and pretend that the sources are the biased ones.

So there's the motherhood penalty: the fact that, even when everything is the same between women, mothers are seen as less desitable workers than non-mothers, and quicker to be penalized for missing the same amount of time off, and meanwhile it's the inverse for fathers. Beyond that, we have to ask ourselves if women are being unfairly denied higher ranking positions because of their gender. There's the fact that higher salaries tend to follow men. Yeah, cuz derogatory terms for men are a lot less mainstream. But they're the kind of guys who slutshame sex workers, talk about false accusers and not rapists walking free, who talk about how men are oppressed and the cancer of feminism.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/20 05:30 AM
9

I mean you're a redpiller, at least. Who cares about rapists walking free and reproductive rights and women being saddled with children when you can talk about rape accusations and dating and spousal payments. Who cares about seeing women as beings as reasonable and complex as men? Men have it rough, sure. But that doesn't make women the source, or mean that men have it worse than women. That's where TRP sways from self-improvement to women-blaming and becomes the source of its own issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/20 04:37 AM

I think anti-feminism is far more pervasive. The nuance of how women are paid less is forgotten, menminists just go WAGE GAP DEBUNKED. You have posts about Karens and thots and how much more quirky boys are w their boys vs girls locker room posts. I thought this sub was a more reasonable place, it's just the red pill in disguise, by your own admission.
