I don’t think they should do anything to this kid until he’s old enough to make his own choices in a mature and rational way. It’s difficult to sort out what exactly the child wants or believes. With such ambiguity, to me the best option is to follow statistics- most people born boys stay boys, and there’s zero harm in NOT operating.
