I agree that it’s about putting your best foot forward as well. I don’t believe in women splitting the bill especially not in the beginning. I’ve heard this too and in that case I guess the obligation would be is that I’m getting dressed up to look beautiful. That time and effort is worth a guy paying for everything especially if he was the one who asked me out.

If a guy asks to go Dutch especially on a first date I run because it shows he will not be generous and provide for me. If he opens doors and offers to help me with my jacket it show thoughtfulness.
