While I acknowledge that this subreddit is certainly better than the worst when it comes to gender discourse, that doesn't invalidate my point. Being better than the worst isn't the same as fulfilling the mission of egalitarianism. There is a difference between having a space to vent, which is necessary and valid, and being stuck in that. Most of the "positive" comments start with quick praise, before immediately pivoting into several paragraphs explaining why they feel justified in their anger.…

You might be fighting a lost cause here. Many of the people of this subreddit are more interested in regurgitating the same recycled rhetoric than in actually building an egalitarian space. Perhaps that's just where people are at right now, but I find it frustrating considering how clearly they share the same mentality that cultivates misandry in feminist spaces.

Because I believe the scope of feminist discourse is a lot deeper than people on this subreddit either like to admit or are aware of. I find it hypocritical considering how much the sub criticises women for generalising men rights activists.

This subreddit is supposed to be about nuanced discussion of male issues. The whole point is avoiding shaming men for expressing thoughts, especially about complex topics like feminism. And not only that, but the mission statement specifically calls out “stereotyping men as sexual predators”

To be honest, some of it is a social thing to have people understand that I'm for women's agency. Feminism in it's ideal form is about agency for women, and all people for that matter. I also think it's easy to take the negatives of a movement and spin it to be the movement in itself, and I don't believe in that way of thinking. Feminism in practice can look very different from this ideal version I'm talking about, but it's also important to consider that the basic freedoms that feminism fights …

Yeah I made it too much of a blanket statement. I mostly meant red pill, as it's the most popular one I can think of. But I think the same could be said about any divisive ideology on either side of the spectrum. You regularly see feminist who have no type of respect for masculinity and harbour unconscious and open resentments towards it. I just wish there was a place in the middle where we can all respect feminine and masculine people, and their respective expressions of it.

Yes exactly. The same could be said for both sides, and I think people may have taken what I said as the typical "men's problems are men's fault" mentality. But I just framed it that way cause of this being a space focused on males primarily.

i like duke dennis he's big with the yns and I think he's a good role model. i think all the guys in his yt group "AMP" are decent role models, though they don't really talk about anything serious regularly. there's a youtuber named "profound pondering" that i like, he might bore a 14 year old though. "purpose driven" is okay, though i don't prefer his style of masculinity, me personally.
