I’m pretty reasonable and centrist when it comes to these matters, but this is one of those rare times that I already know the truth deep in my bones and will laugh at women who claim otherwise. No, there is no such thing as “waiting for an emotional connection” — or, if it gets made, it’ll be quickly and we all know the reason why.

Well, “fast” for me is still like a week or two. My current gf I knew for three months before we started dating in earnest. I never did one-nighters myself but I could totally understand why people would. That’s not a mystery to me. You see what you want and you go for it: simple. I do want at least a little time to assess her personality, although that’s more about logistics than building attraction because I wouldn’t even be talking to her if I didn’t already have that. That’s the key differen…

I gotta admit, it’s not a subject I have enough experience with hence my curiosity. I can accept it without fully understanding it lol. At least it sounds like you’ve reasonable about it. In my own life sexual chemistry has been pretty quick. It feels like a gut reaction on both sides that doesn’t need to be negotiated. The way you describe it to me would feel like you’re playing chess and having sex was a strategic decision.

To be clear I’m not calling you personally disingenuous, just that it’s how I’d feel about it. Yeah, that's 99% of men...again, despite the fact I made sure to show I cared and was interested in making them feel appreciated by buying them small gifts and paying for our dates. At the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious: those things are platonic. A relationship isn’t sexual until sex is had. You could pay for outings and small gifts for female friends, too. Until we’ve actually been in bed toge…

But actually desiring sex with them, even if they're exactly my type, takes much longer. At what point in the relationship would you say you cross the event horizon? What triggers that desire in you? I’m just befuddled by this mode of thinking where I’d want to have sex with a woman but not want to act on it for months. To me it comes off as disingenuous and I’d have left for fear that I was being jerked around.

It sounds like you’re mad that women date who they want while men date who they can. You’re mad that women have high expectations and get their pick of the litter Is that something men should be happy about?

Of course introverts could still be skilled socially — but it’s not unreasonable to think that someone who is quite literally emotionally drained by heavy interaction is more likely to avoid those situations and thus be worse at it.

The first one is definitely true. The second one is greatly overestimating what “shifts after 30 to men’s favor” means. Being slightly less lopsided doesn’t make it in men’s favor by any means.

Appearances in real life, and especially in social media, can be deceiving. A lot of what gets discussed here are issues that tend to corrupt relationships, particularly from the male perspective, in the long term and might not be visible yet. The behaviors discussed here are often expressed unconsciously. Just because a woman thinks she’s happy with her ugly bloke bf doesn’t mean she isn’t doing intense calculus internally. You’re looking at young people with different lifestyles and sensibilit…

Besides, look at it this way: if a woman does submit to being in an intimately vulnerable position with you, that fucking means something. No, it’s pretty frivolous in the grand scheme. There’s way too much casual sex happening in the world for me to take this seriously.

Until I met my current gf, this was basically it for me, too. Women were a prop so I could pass as normal when in reality I was happy alone and had absolutely no urge to play the game. Now I’m with her, and it’s only her in particular who matters to me way more than “women” in the abstract.

At this point we’re just namedropping famous bald guys. That doesn’t mean anything. And they’d certainly be better looking with full heads of hair.

I’m not judging them the way a woman would, but, yes? Certainly they’re not as attractive as they would be with hair, and in the Rock’s case, I grew up at a time when he still had it.

Adding to this very accurate list: they still need to possess the same skills that would get them to girlfriendville even if they were able to get dates consistently. They think it’s a replacement for all forms of socializing in general.

He’s way worse off dating on a wing and a prayer when he could’ve just conformed a very reasonable amount and ended up with a lot more good experiences with women during that time. There’s a reason men are taught game. Being accepted for your wacky idiosyncrasies is a woman’s game.

Totally decadent, I agree, but I wanna play devil’s advocate. To me, sex is a requirement for true love. You could like, lust, and be infatuated with someone, but it’s based off incomplete information. You don’t know an entire other half of that person. Then what happens if you finally do sleep together and you’re incompatible for a myriad of reasons? All that love meant nothing and it just evaporates because it wasn’t grounded in reality, which sex is a part of.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 06:21 PM

I think that it's problematic that people are taking their clothes off and having sex before they really know if they're in love with each other. I’m not doubting your sincerity or anything, it’s just that love preceding sex is such a foreign concept to someone like me having come up in this culture.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 05:12 PM

Yes, but it’s not a hard requirement for men nor does it lead to existential crises.

I have absolutely no proof of that and don’t care enough about it to go looking, but I’d bet that people typically have more friends of their own sex. Another common topic here is “can men and women really be friends,” after all. I was speaking historically, when divisions of labor were much more pronounced. Maybe it’s not so much in the modern day, but still, I took “women are the socially stronger sex” to mean that they have always have been.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/21 01:06 PM
3

I don’t doubt that this happens a lot. But “be her friend for two years and maybe you’ll get lucky” isn’t exactly a marketable strategy, least of all among a crowd of guys who can barely hold together their male friendships.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/21 04:52 AM
3

Maybe I’m nitpicking here, but I think this is circular logic. Women are stronger socially because they have larger social circles, which are composed mostly of other women, who have strong circles, which are composed mostly of women, etc. I don’t measure strength in that way: I measure it as the potential to impose one’s will on the world. If we’re to argue that women have been held back historically, which this sub has been saying a lot in the past few days, then we have to acknowledge that in…

Replying under automod because my experience is the opposite of what OP is asking for. One of the first things me and my LTR girlfriend argued about was whether she or I had an easier time dating (we’re both weirdos I guess). We both took the typical PPD positions on which sex has it harder and I started lurking here specifically to hear opposing views from women. I really wanted to understand the female perspective. Everyone I know who says don’t shit where you eat has done it multiple times. It’s a double-edged sword because those stressful situations, working closely together, developing a rapport, and fighting against shared adversity, can be a strong catalyst.

The post I replied to was describing problems that successful men deal with. The majority of guys (according to the OP) aren’t successful, so they’re not dealing with problems like getting rejected by their tired girlfriends because they don’t have one. My car analogy is of a poor person worrying about problems they will never have with a car they can never afford.

I dunno about all that. The investment you make on looking good isn’t personal to him — you look good for everyone, not just him, and the benefit to yourself goes way beyond that one guy. His investment in you is personal. That meal is yours and he can’t reuse it on anyone else.

Most guys, IMO, treat their dates like a test where the objective is to answer the questions correctly, not to gauge compatibility. They’re not happy at weeding out someone they didn’t gel with; they’re upset with themselves for giving an incorrect answer and not scoring as a result. It’s a fundamentally different paradigm.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/21 11:45 PM

You end up being the "man" of the relationship. You have to take initiative for everything You really think you can predict an entire relationship based on this? After men get past the initial burden of initiation, when it goes well for them, they get sex, family, and support for their whole life. “When it goes well for them” are pretty blatant weasel words. Women get those things too “when it goes well for them,” that’s why people get married.

Probably being at rock bottom changes their outlook in significant ways compared to merely having a low, but non-zero number. I think half of incels wouldn’t exist if they had fucked even once in their life. At some point they go all in on that identity as a sexless male.

A quick note for the record: I didn’t bring up the food analogy and if it wasn’t clear from my tone, I don’t much care for it. With that out of the way: “steak” in the way that I used it doesn’t only stand for sex, it stands for men, of which sex is one several qualities they could possess. So when I talked about the narrative of no man being good enough and going to look for better steak, that means she’s looking for higher quality by whatever way she measures it. (My life experience tells me t…

At this point we’re not talking about porn anymore, but yes, I’m sure most men would prefer not to be with a woman who’s with him out of desperation. Guys want women who want to be with them, obviously, but if you’re a guy no one wants, then the old way at least got you halfway there (at her expense). Those guys think they’d learn to live with it if the alternative was the solitude and social ostracism that they’re living with today. But it’s a moot point. We’re never going back to that era, nor…

It sounds like we agree with the chain of events: guy takes his shots, gets rejected, gives up. Porn might be there for him after the fact, but it wouldn’t alter his behavior even if it wasn’t. This is where we disagree. He’s complacent first, and a consumer of porn second. It’s not a safety net. You paint porn as being a suitable replacement for the real thing (“it’s there so you can stop trying”), which it isn’t. It provides him no comfort. It gives him no status. Hell, it’s barely good enough…

No, because it would be a turnoff for a guy to phrase it that way, but women aren’t blind and dumb. They usually know what’s going on and aren’t always treating these arrangements with so much emotional gravity. Maybe that’s how you personally feel about it, but you’d be an outlier in pretty much every environment I’ve ever been active in. You’re also underestimating the emotional investment the guys are making, as if they’re all just fuck machines who don’t have their own relationship goals. Th…

It isn’t shocking at all. It’s also not shocking that women are, by and large, going along with it, contrary to how you say they truly operate.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 12:48 AM
3

So many relationships start that way. They’re not getting tricked and abused every single time — sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t, but the conclusion takes a lot less work for women to reach. The guy in this equation, regardless of his intentions, is investing way more effort into the process and dealing with way more dead ends.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 12:39 AM

We’re never going to agree on this because the behavior of women I’ve known in my life has not been consistent with the way you’re framing it. It’s not “this food could poison me,” it’s “I deserve a better cut of steak.” And, frankly, they don’t have a hard time finding that cut of steak when they go looking for it which is the point of this post.

Every time this food analogy comes up, I have to point out how silly and neurotic someone would sound if they said they hate literally every food they ever try. It depends on this narrative of virtually all men being not good enough for her, and that’s just not reasonable.

I am saying that if one is anxious about approaching women and they have porn they may resort to that instead if overcoming their anxiety to approach. I’m saying no, men aren’t resorting to porn. Virtually all men are porn consumers. The men who do well with women are also watching it, and the anxious men who do poorly would be retreating into their shells whether porn was an option or not. Either way those men would be prisoners of their own life, the difference is that today they have internet…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 10:56 PM

Either way you’re blaming anxiety on the male side, which to me is unfathomable. I can’t buy into this idea that male nature has flipped so radically in a single generation. It’s like telling me sharks all decided they prefer a diet of algae. I can, however, quite easily buy the idea that women’s roles and expectations have changed severely enough thanks to social advances and technology that they’re rejecting men en masse who would have been considered totally fine matches not too long ago. It’…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 09:46 PM

Might be a reason for some guys who aren’t in that celibate majority to take a break from dating. The ones who are part of the majority don’t get far enough for those things to even become a concern. It’s like saying I decided not to buy a Bugatti because it’s too much work to find a good mechanic.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 08:42 PM

Because it’s unequal.

/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 08:23 PM

Notice that in this chain of events, the equating of porn with reality is the very last step. It’s a possible consequence way down the line, it’s not the root cause. A guy who went down this path as you describe didn’t start off by “refusing” to talk to women. It’s way more likely that he wanted nothing more than to do that and he learned the hard way, for whatever reason, that he was not welcome to. That ship has sailed by the time porn is involved.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 08:13 PM

And I’m saying men don’t need to have consumed a minute of porn in their life to hold RP beliefs. You act like lived experiences aren’t what most people go off almost all the time. I’m not arguing that it’s right or wrong, just that I don’t follow how porn is the cause of this specific belief as you say that it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 06:56 PM

Even if I were to take self-reported stats from women regarding their sexual history at face value, which I don’t, that wouldn’t be the same everywhere in the country. Someone growing up in places like LA, Miami, NYC, etc could absolutely get the “CC” impression of women purely through observation. And anyway, you still haven’t explained how it’s porn in specific that created this idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 06:33 PM
6

Certainly more so than men. I’ve never heard of a porn genre named “fucking a platoon of guys during her 20s and then finding a beta simp to settle with in her 30s.” That belief comes from life experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 06:19 PM

Guys here have such a firm belief that women are fucking like 30 men a day and then wanting to be a born-again virgin after she hits 30. Then, wants to marry a simp while she fucks other guys behind his back everyday. How do you conclude that this belief comes from porn and not from normal experience? Ignoring the exaggeration of 30 men a day.

Partly true. Yes, women more often than men are concerned with finding good relationships — but men still want these also, and they don’t have the huge advantage of being popular just for existing. Also, there is a narrative on online forums about how women don’t value having sex on tap and how it’s a liability they don’t want to have, yet the amount of casual sex that goes on in real life (which men have a way harder time participating in) is in stark contrast to this claim. they want compatibl…

It’s not even about standards being reasonable or not. The fact is that women are the ones pursued by men, and so their standards can be as picky, inconsistent, and contradictory as they feel like being in the moment. That’s a luxury, and power, that almost no men on earth by comparison have ever known or will know. They’re both self-serving, but RP is based on the assumption that the man isn’t his optimal self and has a lot to improve whereas from what I’ve seen FDS, the assumption is that their female audience is already perfect and it’s their job to weed out imperfect men. It’s a lot easier to respect a philosophy that encourages its followers to hustle and improve over one that tells people they’re great and it’s everyone else who is wrong. At least RP, when done properly, improves the lives of both sex…

Masculinity isn’t so easily triggered and broken, you’re just remembering the handful of times that it happened. And your identity as a woman is indestructible in a way that a man’s identity isn’t. You will always be a woman no matter what. You don’t have to maintain womanhood. You can’t lose your woman card. This isn’t comparable.

Men aren’t rotting maggots and women aren’t gourmet. Your bias is showing. The quality of the food for both sexes is mostly ok and down to a matter of preference, except women don’t have to run the obstacle course.

If you were a man that had access to a relationship but no sex would you think that was a prize? Would you say score, awesome? Women actually like having sex whereas virtually no men want sexless relationships. Even if casual sex isn’t the top prize for women like it is for men, clearly the amount of women engaging in it means they’re getting something out of the deal. And casual sex is commonly parlayed into a relationship — not the other way around. The women here downplay the power of access …

Obesity itself is bad for obvious reasons already stated. As for why the “hate?” Because fat girls are the closest equivalent to a low value man — not that fat girls are ever truly low value by comparison to men, but they’re an easy punching bag for guys who are themselves at the bottom of the totem pole.

I would call it inconclusive. There were alarms going off after a few months when it became more clear that it was specifically female nurses primarily being affected, but we’re also not going to tell them all to stop being nurses overnight. Anyway, if this is the most dangerous occupation that women can generally hold then I’d say that still sorta supports the idea that they are in fact being kept in relative safety, once in a century pandemic aside.

I’m saying that you hold conflicting beliefs and appeal to nature when it’s convenient for you. How does nature say raping is okay? Nature says anything is okay if you have the strength to do it. That’s my point. If you want to be consistent and not hypocritical then you can’t pick and choose which things about nature you like best (like being “more valuable”) because the natural order says a lot of things that you also wouldn’t like.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/21 12:51 PM
3

Looks like I have to spell it out for you: rape and coercion. If we’re going by what nature dictates, then you must also support these things because might makes right. Otherwise, “we’re more valuable and men have to work for us because nature says we are 😉” is an untenable position. Just because women aren’t as quick to reduce men to a single number doesn’t mean they’re not doing the same math.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/21 01:06 AM
3

Appeal to nature is a dangerous road to go down. If women are more valuable because nature says they are, then men using their power, whatever form of it that they possess, to acquire women is also the natural order. And as an aside, how gross is it to just sit back and proclaim yourself more valuable than other human beings.

Every woman on earth is covered by that definition. A friend-zoned guy has to be acting like a friend. If he doesn’t have a sexual relationship with her and he’s also not a friend then he’s a stranger. A fuck-zoned woman has to have fucked the guy, otherwise it’s a normal platonic relationship.

This sounds fine in theory but in actuality benefits only one side. Saying that you’re waiting for some arbitrary point makes it seem almost sinister in a way, like you’re playing poker or something, because it’s incomprehensible to us that attraction can be altered merely with new informati…

Curious to know how long that is. I’m pretty red pilled in my beliefs on attraction and this idea of waiting an arbitrary amount of time to chase someone you were attracted to within the first minute is foreign to me. At that point it sounds more like a trade agreement than a romantic pursuit.

Individual men, sure, but not in the aggregate. I’m not downplaying the pressure women feel to be beautiful, but you’re still gonna come out ahead whether or not you cover up a few blemishes or if your hair is imperfect or if you’re slightly chubby. These are inventions born of insecurity and not practicality.

That’s true in the strictest sense, just like basketball is about more than putting the ball in the basket, business is about more than profit, and war is about more than killing. But ultimately you’re gonna lose if you can’t perform at the most basic level. I could beat the Lakers 5v1 if I got a thousand points free just for showing up.

I do, and I find this idea of wanting women to initiate all the time as grossly unnatural from my perspective as a masculine male who enjoys exercising his assertive role. My personal opinion aside, I’ve seen that men who want women to take the lead fall into one of three camps: Men who are too timid to do the initiating themselves and come up with any amount of excuses not to do it. They wish they had the female role for themselves, but there is dissonance because they probably don’t truly enjo…

I'm not sold on the premise that men are suddenly less attractive today than they were 15 years ago, at least not in ways that are unique to being male. Women are also fat and boring. While porn is more accessible today than a decade ago, there is also way more of a health and fitness culture than has ever existed before. Crossfit and gym culture are everywhere. “Frame” is one of those ambiguous terms like “confidence” that mean different things depending on who’s talking. If you think of frame in terms of never letting your guard down, never show weakness, always be on the offensive, etc, then yeah, it’s really just faux self-belief for that crowd who would otherwise not have any to begin with. The higher this number goes, the less believable it becomes. Let's say it's a supermajority, we'll call it 80% of 300, that still leaves sixty eligible men. Disagree. Women have abundance. The "dying alone" threat isn't a real threat for them, not truly, it's an option they can choose to exercise or reneg on at any time. Cat ladies choose to become cat ladies and could cease to be cat ladies overnight. His point is that an individual woman always possesses sex as a commodity to be bartered with. It will always be in demand and supply is limited. She can't be (or at least, shouldn't be) disposed of. An individual man doesn't offer an electrical grid or the entire food supply. This doesn't seem like a controversial position to take. I think most people would agree with it to at least a certain extent, and it applies outside of a sexual context, too. The reason PPD exists is because the sexes treat each other unfairly in different ways, at different frequencies, with different effects, and one sex usually has an advantage over the other in specific domains which leads to inequality. Some want it fixed, others are merely looking for acknowledgment.

I'm not buying the premise that more men than women are stuck in arrested development. Technology is making everyone's life easier and more sheltered. If you spent one night in county lockup as a teenager, that doesn't make you a convicted felon. There is no basis for any fear of him being "low value." Next you'll be telling me the women of the tribe would be OK with them and their children starving to death instead of sending their men off to forcefully take someone else's land. The point you're missing is that war was inevitable because of geography and human nature. Men are fighting the wars, but they didn't "create" them. That's like saying women "created" having kids.

May as well pull a random man's name out of the telephone book and make him pay for the child, then, since we're OK with forcing someone who isn't the father to pay as though he were the father.

They hypothesized that the rising prevalence of obesity as well as the sharp decline in cigarette smoking might help explain their findings, given that testosterone levels are lower among overweight people and smoking increases testosterone levels. But these factors accounted for only a small percentage of the observed difference. The researchers used body mass index, the ratio of height to weight, to estimate obesity levels, he noted, but this is not a very accurate way to gauge the real adipos…

It's true. I can't even tell what a woman with a filter looks like because she's deliberately obscuring her face on a visual medium where people want to see each other. If you're taking selfies in the first place for online dating profiles, especially going out of your way to apply filters, then that says more about you than you'd like to admit. One of women's biggest complaints seems to be men taking bad pictures, but for some reason women taking selfies with a fake wreath on their head is tota…

I understood the analogy to mean McDonald's is the woman, and "being out of McFlurrys" was a rejection from her. In that case you'd have to go somewhere else. You're saying McDonald's is a place you'd be going whether there are women there or not (club or wherever), and women are the McFlurrys in the analogy. I was just extending your analogy. It could be any item on the menu, it doesn't really matter which one you want. The point is you're driving to ten locations and leaving with nothing each time. That's the active role yielding better results, I guess.

I think we've hit the crux of PPD and possibly RP in general: the active role doesn't yield better results than the passive. It yields about the same quality as the passive, if it yields anything at all. This isn't a just world where effort is more greatly rewarded. I don't see rejection as work because that process takes five seconds. The "work" was everything that led to that point: it was getting in the car and driving to McDonald's to try ordering a McFlurry. No, driving a couple of miles do…

Your question is pretty naive. It's essentially, "how is anyone forcing you to seek out relationships and companionship?" Biology and society have a way of forcing the issue. The male role in dating doesn't even have to be making all the first moves either. Sure, be a guy who never makes first moves: just don't complain when women think you're not interested because you were waiting on them to act first, or when their attraction towards you wanes because being passive isn't how they want or expe…

Add to that: as introverts, not only do they loathe "wasted effort," to them it feels like they had to move a mountain and they grow resentful of the male role in general and the fact that they're forced to participate in it. Toxic masculinity is the reason so many men feel like their worth is attached to the number of girls they have sex with. It's why they feel the need to dominate others, to not appear weak or sensitive, to not talk to people about their problems. What a coincidence. All things women generally select for. How can anyone claim a man can truly devote himself to a woman when it's his imperative to find other women. Men are much more objectifying. You're applying female sensibilities to male sexuality. Objectification by definition means to "present as an object; make objective." Emotions and devotion are not objective. I suspect the ulterior motive behind this question, or at least the unwritten part that will attract the incel crowd, is the "gotcha!" moment to fuel the idea that women will win in life (or at least romantically) regardless of their personal failings; that things like status, social competence, shyness, and other personality disorders are things that disproportionately affect men's romantic interests.

Being shy, introverted, or in any way not outgoing is the cardinal sin of being male. IMO it doesn't matter where you fall on the morality axis so long as you're out there and engaging people. Dating online? Not as bad as RP claims, but they're definitely on an uneven playing field. That same average man being outgoing and socially active is going to do fine for himself in real life if he puts a tiny bit of effort into his presentation, isn't completely awkward, has a good attitude, and doesn't shoot for women who aren't either his looks-match or his personality-match. I had a feeling they would still be living in huts and throwing rocks. As you said before, it's only barely functional and asks a lot of the society in order for it to work which makes me wonder how anyone could ever believe that it's the natural order of things unless there's some political or emotional motives. BTW, at first glance some of those are matrilineal (names and possessions passed through the mother) but not necessarily matriarchal.

There are matriarchal societies today that have survived in relative poverty for centuries What are some examples? I can't think of any genuine matriarchies offhand. I don't mean as a microcosm in a larger society (like black, inner-city single moms). It does sound irrelevant, because if that's the way society is moving towards being (and I'm not saying that it is, one way or the other) then how it used to be 10,000 years ago doesn't matter. The modern world would've completely flipped the former matriarchal world on its head, and whatever world technology brings us tomorrow will also do the same to us. Matriarchal prehistory is virtually impossible to prove because by definition we have no records. It's also hard to accept that matriarchies existed all over the world and then just vanished. Male advice is more about how to be attractive to women in general; the focus is more on finding someone at all. Or maybe it just seems that way due to the demographics of the manosphere?

The kind of guy who thinks like this has had awful luck with women most of his (likely short) life and views women as judges looking down on him from their mountaintops, dispensing sex and intimacy to only those they deem worthy while he goes through life cold, hungry, powerless and alone. Naturally, this outlook leads to the attitude that women should be "brought down a peg."

I think a lot of men resent having to put in effort in the mating dance This is more true than you might even realize. RP exists almost entirely because of it.

about her experiences dating incels and beta nerds. Many of us were skeptical of these "experiences," because she comes off sounding like a troll preying on male insecurity. Even if she's being honest about a tenth of what she claims, her attitude makes me doubt that these issues she faced weren't entirely created by her own attitude. It's not cool when incels and RP do it to women, and it's not any better when the tables get flipped. If she has any desire at all to be taken seriously and in goo…

For all the emphasis men place on physical appearance, in practical terms we're not difficult to satisfy. The average woman is still in a much stronger position than her average male counterpart.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/18 11:59 PM

Well that's the crux of this issue: can it really expand? RP says no: it's all relative to the other men in the set, and to be considered "good enough" you must be in the top 20% of the group even if the worst man is still normally considered attractive. A woman's goal is to say "I got the best one in the group," not merely "I got a good one," which is the more objective goal that men shoot for, and that most women would prefer walking out alone than with a sub-optimal man. Note that this isn't …

I'm hardly an expert on RP dogma, but I think what they believe is that "top 20%" is a static value and that, yes, five guys improving themselves displaces five guys who were already in the top-20. The idea is that their attractiveness was entirely relative to where they fall in the hierarchy, and if five guys get better then five other guys no longer make the cut. Those five who got displaced didn't change in any way, there are just too many other men who are now "better." If we take what you'r…

My thoughts exactly. This came off as sounding like a deliberate attempt to provoke RP's most common (and vulnerable) demographic rather than being a genuine real life experience. It's like going into TwoX and rattling off a list of "scientific" reasons why women shouldn't be allowed in the workplace. I'm gonna call fake news on this one.

and yet, paying for several dates with no sex in return isn't considered to be degrading to the man himself. It absolutely is in some circles.

You're right in a general sense that women select for men who aren't afraid of taking social risks, but it's hard to defend guys like Harvey Weinstein as simply "lacking social acuity." What they do is crossing the line by a country mile and in many cases also premeditated.

I totally understand the emotional part of this problem and I wish we didn't live in a world where prenups were necessary. But the way I look at it is, if she knows me well enough to have agreed to marry me, then she should be expecting this kind of logical decision-making from me. If it takes her by surprise or upsets her then that's a huge flag that she doesn't know what she's getting with me.

Why is it that I never hear women talking about the upsides to having "$25k"? As others have already stated, it's tone deaf to complain about having money in front of poor people. I don't want to downplay the stress of having your personal space invaded. Even in Dave Chappelle's situation I'd have a better chance of defending myself than the typical woman would. With that said, physical safety is a non-issue because violent crime is at historically low levels. There's never been a safer time to …

Former network engineer myself. Content providers are also corporations, so evilness isn't the issue here given that all involved parties are equally evil given that equation. ISPs are the 'bad guys' because I can pick and choose what content providers I want to do business with, but I can't choose what ISPs I do business with because infrastructure is a very finite resource and I have only one option where I live. Even in cases where you have a few ISPs they're still piggybacking off a tier 1 p…

I'm sure there's some astroturfing but that doesn't mean popular support is entirely artificial. There's a battle of titans going on and one side happens to be on the moral high ground (even if for selfish reasons). I'd rather those companies fight for NN because they benefit from it than to lose it entirely.

we are just rarely attracted to "men" in the abstract, or focused on appealing to "men" as a general category of people, in the same way a lot of guys seem to be attracted to "women." Is it because you're not attracted to "men" in the abstract, or because sexual attraction towards yourselves is so abundant that it's not something you ever have to think about?

What are your specific issues with the book, besides not liking Robert Greene and his tone? I read it way before RP was a thing. Every chapter has historical examples of people who followed, broke, and subverted his rules. You might disagree with his conclusions (and some have said the rules conflict with each other) but I don't think lack of qualifications is an issue. Appealing to authority is a logical fallacy. And anyway, as others have already said: be skeptical and don't blindly accept eve…

The angry, sexless male stereotype comes from guys who look at one small subset of women, the young and most attractive ones who have the easiest time finding partners, and want that privilege for themselves. I think it often stems from extreme shyness, which in their defense is a trait only women are allowed to have. They then conclude that life for those women must be smooth sailing due to this singular advantage. I get where they're coming from. For us the romantic process is hard work and we…

Not a red pill, but you're making a mistake in assuming that your kids will actually be there for you in your old age. They might, or they might not. I hesitate to have kids just as an insurance policy especially in our society that doesn't much value the elderly.

Not saying that I agree with your premise, but I could make the counterargument that a woman's attraction to us becomes biased over time by other factors such as our personality, status and income. Getting laid regularly by different women removes all other forms of influence except raw sex appeal. And with how difficult casual sex is for most of us to even get, even one success counts for a lot. For a woman, casual sex just means she was physically present; for us, it means we moved mountains.

I know this post is two days old and downvoted into oblivion, but I felt compelled to respond to your insanity anyway. No way in hell does social pressure have anything to do with it. Unless you're an extreme outlier (which you seem to be), no guy is going to prefer a fat woman over an average one. If anything, there's more shame brought down on guys who believe in "no fat chicks" than there is for dating a fat chick. Guys rib on each other for everything, including just normal sexual preference…

I didn't say universal, but definitely not uncommon. And the male equivalent of height pickiness doesn't exist at all, which is the point I was responding to. Guys not wanting to date someone taller isn't the same as women wanting men much taller than themselves.

My quoted text doesn't alter your meaning at all. Every child created by a man, sex-crazed or not, was also created by a woman, but women's responsibility was curiously absent from your statement. Anyway, a condom prevents pregnancy (usually), it doesn't negate it. That's the crux of this whole debate: both sexes have tools to prevent pregnancy, but only women can do something about it after it happens. Since both parties were equally responsible for conception, but only women have the power to …

What men need to do is develop a stronger backbone and not get caught up in the pressures put upon them to have sex at all costs. Men make themselves susceptible to "virgin shaming," or being called "fag" or "pussy" if they're not getting laid regularly. Does this argument apply to women, also? Can we tell slut-shamed women to grow a backbone and stop being susceptible to humiliation? I'm OK with it so long as we apply the same standard to everyone.

I know I'm late to this party... society is ultimately responsible for the many, many children created by sex crazed men You mean created by normal men and women who wanted to get their rocks off, and brought to term exclusively by the will of a woman. I could equally say they're created by baby-crazed women. With great power comes great responsibility. If a woman has the literal power of life and death, then why should she not also be saddled with the responsibilities that result from not exerc…

I'm here because feminism and the social changes that have resulted from it is a major topic of our times and I want to form a stronger opinion, for my own enrichment, by coming to a place where people debate the issue. I also read RP, BP, XX, dating forums, etc, but those subs are just safe spaces for one side or the other to jerk (or rub) themselves so they're not as interesting. For sure there's some of that going on. I just consider that point to be more of a high-minded idealism that isn't as responsible for provoking the kind of visceral and emotional response that we see to a man not acting like a man.

It's like I said in that same topic from yesterday: it has absolutely nothing -- zero -- to do with legality. It would still be horrific in their eyes even if legal, regulated, and safe for all parties. It's entirely because of gender roles and the man's inability to live up to them. A real man is experienced, and a naturally good lover who would never need to resort to paying for sex. It pains me to agree with RP, but in this case I'm gonna have to borrow some of their terminology. I believe th…

I already know he’s not socially bankrupt; there must be another reason he decided to pay for sex. That's where it gets a little tricky because now you're talking about someone who got past your vetting process. I don't claim to have all the answers, just some guesses based on the responses I've seen women giving. It makes you feel like your vetting process is flawed and you allowed in a deplorable. Think of it this way: would you feel comfortable if you found out your boyfriend had past involve…

I feel kind of out of place not knowing the lingo here. But anyway, I meant it when I said I'm nothing. I hold both blue and red positions (more blue), but what happens is when my opinion leans blue there's already a hundred other people who have commented with what I was going to say. When it leans red, my opinion is more likely to stand out. I find that any position that doesn't put women in the best light is automatically considered red. This is my honest opinion based on discussions I've had…

I've seen this question pop up many times with regards to men. Women often put up a front citing disgust over abuse that exists within the profession, but this negative reaction is just a proxy for learning that the man was, or possibly still is, socially bankrupt. That he had to resort to prostitution because he wasn't good enough to get laid on his own. Essentially, he has failed to live up to his gender role and failed as a man. Basically, it's OK if you're with the guys at a bachelor party b…

Agreed. I don't think pills of any color would even exist if it wasn't for sad guys sulking. But this is purple pill debate, after all, and in general there is definitely a double standard at play here with regards to male height. They might be sulking, but they do have a point.

There's a difference, though. Men might not like a woman taller than themselves, but I've never heard of a guy listing a maximum height requirement on his dating profile or even really caring about such things. A guy with a girl 1 inch shorter than himself is fine for the guy, but the girl will typically demand a guy 6+ inches taller than herself. My unsubstantiated opinion is that guys care only about the girl for her own sake, whereas the girl cares about how the guy ranks compared to other me…
