Right?! I hope so too. I believe we need to acknowledge the biological differences between men and women (obviously men are stronger and more aggressive) but I think its asinine to police people's interests based on gender roles. I also think its naive to teach young girls to always rely on men instead of empowering them to solve their own problems. It would be wonderful if that was realistic, but its just not always a guarantee in the real world. Men still have more power in society. Our needs …

I agree. I was cringing so hard. The Cops, Robbers, and Princesses game sounded like something the Duggars would come up with. Those little girls are not going to grow up to be princesses or have the political power of a princess. It reeked of more gaslighting "EmPoWeRmEnT" nonsense that is backed up by no actual real world power. It really rubbed me the wrong way. Pretending to be a princess is fine, of course, but this guest was acting like this preschool game was preparation for the rest of t…

This is so true! It's something that I never could have articulated, but that is exactly how it is. It's almost one of those feelings (only its not really a feeling so much as it is a mindset) that there is no word in English for.

I'm not sure we can un-ring that bell. How do we even stop it if they are willing to go to those lengths? I wish porn producers would go to jail for the outrageous amounts of harm they have directly inflicted on people physically and emotionally, and also indirectly at a societal level. When this kind of depravity becomes mainstream and men are willing to treat women this way, how do we even break the cycle?? It looks like it is heading in that direction if things keep going the way they are. Of…

You hit the nail on the head! It's entitlement with a little bit of laziness thrown in. They have no problem figuring things out for the bossman at work. But when it comes to home/life things or work that is more administrative/won't get them recognition from management, they feel entitled to pass it off to a woman to do. We are not "naturally better at it," it's just a chore that has no prestige attached to it.

Exactly! I was at the Microcenter the other day and they have cameras that look like a USB stick. So he could have his laptop in there, turned off, but the USB in the laptop might be a camera! Also, there were some that looked like alarm clocks...like there was no way you could tell a difference. I wonder what those are mostly used for. It's sad because a few years back I would have thought nothing of it and just assumed it was a nanny cam. But I doubt a lot of people buy those at Microcenter. I…

Same! Only it was like a total non-issue at school. Even from professors. Most of my professors treated me well and I mostly got good feedback. That's why it was such a nasty shock once I entered the workforce. I actually didn't realize what the problem was until like a year and a half in. I thought it was me. I'm sorry you are dealing with the same thing! I know how much it can wear you down over time.

ME TOO. I hate the new chip on my shoulder. I guess the only good thing is that it woke me up to the existence of sexism. I experienced barely any in college or even earlier in my life. So I just thought it was in the past until I entered the workforce. It's so unfair and ridiculous. I actually already knew how to use a specific software when I started, and my male coworker that started 2 months before me did not. Guess what? They taught him how to do it and I still barely ever get to use it. Th…

I also work in a male-dominated industry and this happens to me all day long it seems like. It's really demoralizing. I actually used to think maybe I was having stupid ideas or coming off stupid because they would start explaining some basic concept to me I wasn't asking about or just kind of ignore it if I said something in a meeting. But then I noticed if my male coworker said the same thing then all of a sudden they understood and it was a great idea!

I agree with you about this. If you don't feel comfortable sharing this or if you are worried he will use it against you, why even sleep with him at all? I definitely think we should wait longer than 3 months before sleeping with someone if it is the first time. As for the comments on here saying they are intentionally rough with virgins, I don't think that is always true. (Although I am sure there are some pornsick losers who might be this way, increasing by the day with the violent porn that i…

YES. This. I have had so many guys friends tell me women look better without makeup. I actually had two in particular look up a list of celebrity women like Angelina Jolie without make up and they were going gaga over it. I looked at it and you could clearly see eyeliner lines, mascara, nude lipstick, brown eyeshadow, foundation because the skin was perfectly smooth, etc. I pointed it out but they argued with me because the article "says they aren't wearing make up." Do they really think some wo…

Completely. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you can find some solace. As for the guy, it's almost like he is trying to lecture you about your behavior like you are a misbehaving child or something. It's so gross. As if he has the right! Definitely leave him on read. He has no character or sympathy whatsoever. He should be supportive and understanding at this time. I had something similar happen to me after my grandma died in a sudden and tragic way. I was very close with my grandma and my…

I have had romantic experience and a lot of dates. I had also been engaged before. I just wanted to wait until marriage. So I wouldn't say I was sheltered about that type of thing, but I definitely think it is crazy that some guy on a third date would do that while making out without even asking. He did not know I am a virgin because it didn't come up. I think it's even worse in your case because he knew. It's just so clueless and self-centered. In my experience, if you ever tell a guy you don't…

Oh my gosh, I actually had the SAME experience! I was just making out with a guy (I actually want to wait till marriage) and he started choking me. He didn't even ask me first! Except it was our 3rd date. I met him through online dating. Of course, I never went out with him again either. It's so ridiculous that this is so widespread. I hate it and its really dangerous.

He definitely seems off his rocker. (And totally pornsick!) Just try to stay safe and aware. Whenever I have dealt with a creepy guy, I usually don't block them because I want to be able to see what they are writing me (just in case it escalates), but I ignore them completely. Or if they know a lot about me, then I'll do a slow fade and reply less and less. The only way I will block them is if they are a stranger and it prevents them from being able to even see my online profile etc. I'm not sur…

Oh my gosh!! Stay safe. He sounds like the type that could turn into a stalker. He is not even a LVM, he sounds like a straight up psycho! Please watch your back. The fact that he let himself into your apartment is awful. You definitely made the right choice kicking him to the curb (also, I think it was smart of you to be diplomatic and say that you are asexual - he sounds unhinged). You deserve so much better!!! The workout routine will for sure help. I know when my nerves are on edge that work…
