My college class recently discussed student expectations. Most of the women expected to have a good career, marry a man who earned same or more, share housework equally, not sacrifice her career for his. Have children around 30, have the choice to work or stay home after kids.Girls are being raised with those expectations now. When I was growing up, the schools pretty much taught us that we could have a family OR a career. My parents taught me that if a woman has a family and a job, that she is still subject to her husband's whim, and is expected to obey him. Also that her job is less important than his, if he has no job, she is to downplay her position as provider to soothe his ego. My ex-husband was a spender, expecting to have his own salary to play with, and it w… | /r/MensRights | 27/03/11 07:38 PM

Ellis: "Why be with a woman who thinks of you as an oppressor but treats you like a servant?"I, personally, don't agree with that. | /r/MensRights | 01/08/10 09:03 PM
Ellis: "Why be with a woman who thinks of you as an oppressor but treats you like a servant?"I was married to the worst man. He used sex to degrade me, he lied constantly, and was physically and verbally abusive. I hated to ask him for anything, even to drive me to the store to buy underwear for the kids, because he so often rudely demanded sexual favours in return. He watched porn to punish me for not wanting to be degraded, and it pissed him off that I didn't mind him watching porn. I am now married to the best man I've ever known. I willingly do any sexual thing he wants. He doesn't … | /r/MensRights | 01/08/10 04:14 AM
Ex girlfriend, not wife, moved to NY, I am in IL, and is now married. She is sending me papers to sign so my daughter can be adopted by her husband.Refuse to sign them. Any time there is any legal action attempted, refuse to sign the papers, and protest, loudly, against your daughter being adopted by anybody. Have you considered moving to New York? | /r/MensRights | 28/06/10 06:39 AM
Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real. There is nothing I can do about it now, and I'm not having any more children. I see no reason to defend myself against this unnecessary attack. I did what I thought was best at the time. | /r/MensRights | 22/04/10 03:06 PM
Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real.I think there needs to be more publicity on this. As I commented elsewhere, I let my sons' fathers (ex-husband for my older son, wonderful husband for our little boy) decide for the boys, since I am certainly no expert in the field of what-it-is-like-to-have-a-penis. Had I been a single parent, and it had been my choice, I would have chosen to let my sons have intact foreskins. Mostly, though, it would have been because I am against mutilation. I have my ears pierced, but those people who have p… | /r/MensRights | 21/04/10 03:42 PM
Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real.Don't be so defensive. I'm NOT like my boys, as I said, I left that up to the MEN to decide for their sons, because they are the ones who know. I didn't feel it was my purview. My daughters have normal female genitalia, just like me. | /r/MensRights | 21/04/10 03:31 PM
Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real.In societies that still practice female circumcision, the cutting is usually done by an old woman with a dirty knife, who cuts away anything that flaps. So, yes, the labia majora would be cut away, as well as the clitoris and the labia minora. | /r/MensRights | 21/04/10 02:10 PM
| -8 | Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real. Both of my sons are circumcised. My ex-husband was circumcised, he declared that HIS son MUST be circumcised. My darling husband is also circumcised, and he thought about it for a while, then said he'd like our baby circumcised. I'm a woman, I don't have one of those, so I figured it wasn't my call to make. | /r/MensRights | 21/04/10 02:03 PM |
