2	My college class recently discussed student expectations. Most of the women expected to have a good career, marry a man who earned same or more, share housework equally, not sacrifice her career for his. Have children around 30, have the choice to work or stay home after kids. Girls are being raised with those expectations now. When I was growing up, the schools pretty much taught us that we could have a family OR a career. My parents taught me that if a woman has a family and a job, that she is still subject to her husband's whim, and is expected to obey him. Also that her job is less important than his, if he has no job, she is to downplay her position as provider to soothe his ego. 2	Ex girlfriend, not wife, moved to NY, I am in IL, and is now married. She is sending me papers to sign so my daughter can be adopted by her husband. Refuse to sign them. Any time there is any legal action attempted, refuse to sign the papers, and protest, loudly, against your daughter being adopted by anybody. 1	Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real. I think there needs to be more publicity on this. As I commented elsewhere, I let my sons' fathers (ex-husband for my older son, wonderful husband for our little boy) decide for the boys, since I am certainly no expert in the field of what-it-is-like-to-have-a-penis. Had I been a single parent, and it had been my choice, I would have chosen to let my sons have intact foreskins. Mostly, though, it would have been because I am against mutilation. In societies that still practice female circumcision, the cutting is usually done by an old woman with a dirty knife, who cuts away anything that flaps. -8	Convince me not to circumcise my child. This is real. Both of my sons are circumcised. My ex-husband was circumcised, he declared that HIS son MUST be circumcised. My darling husband is also circumcised, and he thought about it for a while, then said he'd like our baby circumcised.
