A waiter did this to me a few years ago on the upper East Side. I had been cruising the neighborhood for forty minutes, saw a spot and started pulling in when a waiter ran out of a restaurant gesticulating wildly. “That’s reserved! My cousin is on his way from Brooklyn to take that space.” I ignored him. He tried to hold me back, but I inched into the space. A guy walking by with a dog congratulated me. “This is like a real life Seinfeld episode! Aren’t you afraid he’ll mess with your car?” I to…

Most of his victims got their original investments back. What they didn’t get was their phantom (false?) profits.

Exactly! The real struggle is the 1% vs. the 99%. All of the other ‘stuff’ (gender wars, racial strife, transphobia, even Republicans vs. Democrats,) is planted and fostered by the wealthy and their minions to keep the 99% divided and their ire directed at each other rather than the deserving targets...

People too young to understand loan repayment shouldn’t be given loans. They should get an adult co-signer or should take a few years off, get a job, save for school while figuring out how loans work. Schools seldom guarantee high paying jobs to graduates. Maybe the disclaimer should be more obvious (Attention Dumb Ass: Completion of Studies does not mean you will find work nor achieve sufficient income to pay back this loan!”). As far as “paying off the loan forever” repayment plans/requirement…

Why would anybody take out a student loan without accepting the reality that they would have to work to pay it off? It would be like taking out a car loan without formulating an income strategy nor a payback plan. People must be completely lacking in common sense to come up with a financial (non) strategy like this... as such, they don’t deserve any taxpayer help, they need to get off of their fat couch and get a job!

If so, you’re doing it wrong. Use the Chinese method. One bullet to the head, price of the single round invoiced to the prisoner’s next of kin.

What do you mean, when the Titanic went down the feminists on board volunteered to test out the sea worthiness of the life boats, while the men got to stay onboard the mothership and await the results of the brave feminists daring experiment.

Old, fat, rich, cigar chomping man squires around a much younger, better looking, poorer female and is surprised when she betrays his trust by trying to profit from their relationship? (Kind of like he was trying to trade his wealth and connections to access her youthful, in-shape feminine assets.) Noting to see here, folks. Big surprise. These two losers deserve each other.

10 Liberal Arts people may generate the same money as two Engineers, as in your example, but those same 10 LA folks can deliver twice the number of pizzas as 10 Engineers. Why? Because while the Engineers will be obsessing about routes, stoplights vs. signs, heat loss of pizza containers, and better employment opportunities elsewhere, Liberal Arts folks will be playing with the radio, singing along with pop music, contemplating trends in literature, wondering what it would be like to have a real…

There was a firehouse promotion test given in a town near me a few years ago designed to provide women and minorities a path to a management position. The only people who passed the test were white males, so they declared the test faulty, promoted none of the folks passing the test and promoted flunkeys with the desired physical attributes and gender specific equipment instead. Needless to say, law suits followed.

I once paid a guy $3200 for a Jeep he advertised in Auto Trader. I dropped the check on the ground and when he bent over to pick it up, I jumped in the Jeep and drove it away. The look on his face in the stolen rear view mirror, was well worth the $3200 I had dropped...

I sat next to a guy at work, a veteran of many street altercations, who said, if a fight is inevitable, be the one to throw the first punch. Many of his fights were initiated and completed with a single punch.

OJ, is that you? The jury system is obviously flawed (having wasted a month on a clear cut case, only to be dismissed for jury misconduct when two Karen’s, ignored the judge’s directives and goggled the case...). We need professional juries, trained, educated, paid and vetted for reasonableness, like they have in more progressive countries.

After my parents died, I exercised an option in their will to buyout my two sisters’ share of the family homestead. A local real estate agent set a price range. I used the midpoint to establish a “fair” market value. My older sister sued me in court insisting it was nearly two hundred thousand dollars undervalued. The judge looked at all the evidence and instead of raising the price, he actually lowered it. Icing on the cake: He also allowed me to add an extra 10K to my share to recoup money and…

I grew up with two sisters. My father thought that males would need to support their families later in life so he was much tougher on me than the girls. At eleven, I had a morning paper route, at 14, I worked in tobacco fields, at 16, I had summer jobs in a local factory, bakery and frozen food warehouse. During high school, he would wake me up at 3AM, so I could help him unload trailer trucks before school for $20 each. My sisters did nothing. I worked hard for 40 years and retired with a small…

Yup. For the first guy they valued his pension by multiplying his monthly payments times his life span. The second guy lost half to his first wife, half of a half (a quarter) to gold digger number two, and a half of a quarter (1/8) to the final spouse. So he technically didn’t lose it all, he managed to keep an eighth of it for himself!

It’s not uncommon for retirement benefits to be factored into a divorce, it happens all of he time. My buddy lost 100% of his 401k to his wife (he was able to keep his pension, house and kids.). I worked with a well paid manager who got divorced thrice and lost nearly all of his retirement benefits. Around here, retirement benefits are considered joint property.

I used to live in Ledyard when it was a sleepy, country town. Fast forward to two Indian casinos opening in the area. Brought in an influx of drugs, crime, low life criminals, impoverished minimum wage workers, etc. The TV adds for the casinos are all glitz and glamor. The reality is a few wealthy Native American families and the seedy underbelly for everyone else.
