Well, if most of their customers are women, it's good business sense to advertise to women. Like, hey, these happy, attractive women shop here, if you shop here you'll be happy and attractive too. Companies don't really claim any responsibility for anything besides making a profit, so I wouldn't hold my breath for equal representation.
