I get where you’re coming from with the lifting. I was like 115lbs when I met my wife and she was all over me. However tens years of lifting later and I’m a lean 200lbs. I earn 300k pa btw, the two are not mutually exclusive. We’re all hero’s on here of course but IRL I’m the most confident person I’ve ever met and I got girls easily as a twink: as long as I could have the opportunity to speak to them. Now attraction happens before that. So, speaking from experience, there is a definite differen…

I think if you really committed to spending a week or two doing being mindful of when you're labelling behaviours as "good" or "bad" and just taking that value judgement out of the equation, you would make a lot of progress.

Your body doesn’t “want” to be an idealised version of you. It isn’t holding back some idealised DNA expression like Ridley Scott’s Engineers because it thinks you’re a pussy. It doesn’t turn “good” food into muscle and “bad”, “indigestible” food into fat (literal stores of energy - I mean… how would that work?). There’s no magic formula to get it to shed some “false” facade and reveal the beautiful butterfly. No matter how well you manage your “insulin spikes”. And that’s OK. We joke about teac…

Jfc I may still come to your house and stab you. “Going over” is not compliance. It doesn’t fucking matter if you “go over” with a fucking hand cut sirloin plucked from the massaged, grass fed hind quarters of the majestic Wagyu herd, in their original home on Kobe, or a fucking used piece of bubble gum stuck to the bottom of a phone box. This is the same fucking Dunning Kruger salad that has people drinking fucking red wine for health benefits while shunning Diet Coke as the devil and spooning …

You seem to berate yourself for looking forward to meeting some girl you like. Apparently this is some kind of scarcity that is to be rubbed out. In other news you don’t know what you do want. Coincidence? I think a bunch of guys fluffed you about being autistic sorry “dark tetrahedron” but you may find it’s not a particularly useful way to be all the time. You guys are always “building” things, “on a mission”, “charting your ships”. Where are you all going? Don’t you ever just kiss the girl?

So your goal is to not enjoy the company of any woman? Seems a little left of the middle way to me. OTOH, if you’re trying to do post-MRP-porn, it’s pretty tame.

Thursday I went to a Meetup and sat down at a table with three guys and a cute girl directly across from me. They were talking about working out. The girl said she’d always wanted to do a chin up and the conversation started to turn to arms and biceps. I absent-mindedly said nah that strength comes from the muscle here, pulled one arm over my chest and reached under it to tap my lat. The girl’s eyes almost popped out of her head and I think she actually soiled herself. Two of the guys’ faces wen…

Go get a deep tissue massage. Deep tissue, sports or traditional Thai or Swedish ones work. 10,000 times more effective than mobility work. In a perfect world, I’d get one every 3-6 months but I am lazy and end up going about every 9 months when I have a bad knot.

Personally I would not do the same lift variation more than once a week. I’ve never had a “real” lifting injury (as in a tear or strain or whatever) but I have started to get painful knots and pinched nerves from time to tone. I think these have more to do with overuse, approaching my forties, than anything else.

You should check out humansockpuppet’s guide to bitch management. At 26 your gf should be writing poems about you, making you hand made cards and sucking your eyeballs through your peehole three times a week. Having taken multiple years off work, I can say it doesn't take a lot of money. I've done Europe, South America and Asia in the past. You might want to check out Portugal. de-load, work on form You don’t get stronger/bigger going back and lifting less weight. And you don’t get a medal for best squat depth in globo gym. This is an all round inane strategy, that can’t possibly be your own, and an opportunity to apply some critical thinking to your life.

5x5 workouts are what gym coaches give high school athletes. From both a strength and an aesthetic perspective, they’re almost the worst of both worlds. At your age, with your injury history and your... “dimensions”, I would look into something with higher reps, fewer sets and more variety.

I am on the right track I think so. I’m sure we’ve all had the experience of (literally) leading a group of people to a physical location. You don’t get people moving by staring at them thinking how to calibrate to their mood, you just... go.

My idea of a cheat meal is a protein bar, so take this with a pinch of salt, but I really don’t understand why people go over their calories at the infamous “family function”. Just fast up to it. Eat all your protein, with low to zero fat, at it or right before it. Drink liquor. Tada. Even if you throw in a couple of beers, that’s like 1,750kcal. You should be in a 3,500kcal deficit for the week anyway. What that means is you’d have to eat 2,600 (the days allowance) PLUS 3,500 equalling 6,100kca…

I feel like all this "nofap" stuff puts all the focus on a symptom and not the disease. Personally I love jerking off but I don't get to do it all the time because I also have other things to do. Maybe you need to focus on that part. If it's that you prefer it to sex, maybe you're just missing the "E" in DEVI. Very important. have bondage sex in a hotel This is first date stuff for teenagers. 6’2” 170lbs Eat more. All your lifts will immediately go up. The strongur app, or just the navy formula, is fine for measuring body fat. Statistically it’s on a par with DEXA, better than bodpod and beat only by a professional with a dunk tank. The only gripe you ever hear is it measures “too high” (lol) but if that’s your concern, the ones you give cash to - in a gym or wherever - always seem to give a lower result. Weird how that works.

pretty soon confirmation bias starts to work in favor of red pill. It surely will. Same way it would if you simply renamed that plug in your head "sciencism", "taoism", "happy wife", "being a man" etc. So when is a blue pill not a blue pill? When it lines up with where you want to go... but you maintain just a little doubt that its the right direction.

karmic covert contract “Just World” type beliefs are an almost universal cognitive bias but I think what’s interesting is that even when we recognise where these fallacies occur, behaviors often continue along the path anyway. Obviously knowing isn’t enough. But I’m not sure it has to be anymore complicated than acknowledging times that intuitive-narrative-thinking-type-model has actually failed and times an empirical, strategic approach has worked more favourably. This is why you can really benefit from some kind of HIT style lifting, at least early on. Honestly it should come before worrying about form, progressive overload or just about anything else. Intensity is assumed in programs but the average person has no experience in what a powerful muscular contraction feels like.

You can lose fat way faster than you can gain muscle, so you should always be looking for the scale to drop but don’t hamstring adding muscle. What’ll happen with this setup is your scale weight will drop but you’ll add lean mass, which means your overall bf level will plummet. The “recomp” effect.

I forget exactly how fat you are but I’d do something like: 2,400kcal 40/45/15% (C/P/F) workout days 1850kcal 20/55/25% (C/P/F) rest days Nail the calories precisely, try and stay within 3% of the macro ratios. This gives you essentially the same protein and fat both days, while cycling carbs/calories. You’ll likely find that a lot of food, which is great: no reason you shouldn’t get lean af on that diet. If/when weight stalls, measured over two weeks, lower calories on both days by 5%.

I think your fats are way too high to be ideal. For performance and for good food choices. Also, and from experience, I'd add more protein if using whey. But overall its not a big deal.

So worked example. Ask any guy here what their body fat level is. The ubiquitous “15%”. Say we asked them to rate how hard they worked out. I think most people, including you, are going to say “7/10” (And probably believe it’s 8/10). Now I’ve been lifting, year round, for 12 years. Dieting since 2014 with about 95% days tracked each year. So what am I? 8/10? Then we squeeze Tyson in at 9 and Lance Armstrong at 10? Bullshit. Elite athletes still have social lives. And it’s somehow cathartic to berate themselves that they’ve been cruising at a paltry 90% but now they have “woken up” and the meter is at 100%. The truth is, in a lot of ways - sex, career, lifting, education - most people likely operate at like 10% and that’s OK. What’s easier? Going from 10-20%? Or 90-100%? Lifting <500lbs is not deadlifting. It’s some odd form of public masturbation but if you must then you must. I’d recommend a deep tissue, or even a traditional Thai massage, for the knots. Really getting them once every 3-6 months is a great preventative but it can fast track recovery too.

You might want to try cycling calories, with workout days at least maintenance. Honestly at that size I would probably make the whole week isocaloric but you could maintain a small deficit if you must. Your lifts suck. You are doing it wrong. Do you have any history of athleticism? How would you rate your effort? Are you afraid of injury? Time constrained? DL <315lbs... how? Do you have the standard two legs?

DOMS are fun but I don’t think they’re a qualitative measure of a workout. I’ve never bought into the “micro tear” idea behind it. Seems more likely it is to do with the CNS. Also extreme stretching should eliminate most of it once you get the hang of it.

So if you can leg press 100kgx6, then x20, obviously you are not going all out. It doesn't matter though, just keep beating your log book each session and you'll soon end up on challenging weights. So next time you might try 110kg and get 44 reps. Instead of stopping at an arbitary number (though I am sure leg presses can be rest paused. Idk long time since I've trained like this. Itll be in the guides). But you'll also have to do workouts B1, A2, B2, A3, B3 before leg presses roll round again s…

Seems like a lot of sets for what should be one, rest-paused, set in most cases. So you curl 30kg to failure. Balls out set with with slow negatives. You fail after 10 reps, take 15 breaths, eek out another 5 reps. 15 breaths. 3 more reps. 18 reps in total. That is what you try and beat next time. Then onto your 90 second bicep stretch Reverse curl, ONE straight set with 20kg 120 second forearm stretch And so on. Basically reading the guide and doing what it says to do.

Bear in mind when you do quads, it’s a “widowmaker”. When I do one back squatting, it’s like 315lbsx20. Maybe more. When I’m done, I’m drenched in sweat, my face is grey, my heart is pounding, I am gasping for breath, I have to sit or lie down. If I tape it, every rep looks the same but in my head each one feels like pushing through the sticking point slow motion. I think of reps 1-5 as a warmup and hold my breath for all of them. If I can hold it to rep 8, I know I’m going to crush it. Then 5 r…

Yes one of three. Next session you do a different movement. Next session a third. Then it’s back to your first movement and you try and beat what you did last time. When you stop progressing, you “lose” That exercise and have to add something else in. It’s 15 reps in total. So probably a regular 10 rep max, then two rest-paused sets would work out 8, 4, 2 (Bear in mind you should have a slow controlled eccentric (the lowering portion)). I think Trudel recommends staying above 10 reps for >35 yea…

Whenever I want to lift anything IRL, I always place the weight at the top of a chain of bones that decrease in size, strength and stability as they go up, then squat down, limited by the weight I can support below the parallel thigh position. Don’t waste your time training vestigial appendages like arms. Literally the ear lobes of the muscular system.

What if I told you... the leg press develops your legs? Well tbf you'd probably ask about "stabilisers" but then I'd point out those aren't a real thing. Don't major in the minors with KB swings. Off means days you are not lifting. Building up swings could just be one all out set. Or 10 reps, every minute on the minute - Andy Bolton does this. Bear in mind swings have a fairly high injury rate so again keep it intense and over quickly.

Not only the risk of injury but the certainty of going nowhere. You should look into those routines too. At least for your assistance work. Build some quads, arms, upper chest. All your contest lifts will immediately go up.

Body weight in kilos x 30 is a decent place to start for TDEE but main thing is to track your intake and your daily weight. Compare the average weight of week 1 to the average of week 3 and note average weight change measured over two weeks. Thereafter compare weeks 2 to 4, 3 to 5 and so on. Every 1lb fat lost = 3,500kcal deficit. You can work out your “true” TDEE from that. When weight loss stalls, adjust calories down by 5% both days.
/r/MarriedRedPill08/06/21 05:41 PM

It’s never counter productive to do more volume (Not always a great time investment hence use programming provided by smarter people). You don’t “need” rest days either. Elite athletes train every day. Multiple times. Contrary to what lifting gurus tell you, the fact is that some of those (athletes) are not only natty, they’re natty little girls. Checkout the r/fitness wiki for recommended routines. Deep Water is there. That’s best bulk program I’ve ever ran personally. On a cut I’d go lower vol…

It’s a joke dude. My response was dogmatic. The most important question with lifting is: “what, specifically, is your goal?”. If it’s “look good naked” that is fine but consider that if you google “5x5 results”, most “success stories” look like a bag of smashed assholes. Clues. And if it’s “be strong”... well not a lot of that going on either. Anyway that question is followed closely by: “How many days a week can you lift and for how long?”. So?

I think there’s a lot to be said for just letting the group dynamic be what it is like this. The number one thing I’ve heard “shy” people say is “I’m good with one to one conversations, I just don’t do groups”. I think the model is there that “if ‘cool person’ is talking to 5 people now, I feel only 1/5th as important.”. But you need to be able to switch gears and address The Group and let it sort you to a certain extent.

The hierarchy insights are really interesting and much on my mind lately. Jack on hierarchy. On a different note, I got a coffee the other day from someone I had become quite friendly with and suddenly realised I had not talked to her in like 6 months. Every time I see the word “optimal” in the context of weightlifting, I immediately stop reading. The goal isn’t to lift light weights for high reps or heavy weight for low reps, it’s to lift heavy weight for high reps. And anyway if you had 50 guys running the same program on paper, it’d play out in 50 different ways in the gym. “Effort” is king. That is the secret sauce. I deadlift 405x10 and squat 315x20. It is still maximal. It took me three attempts to pull 450lbs today. I slept 4 hours last…

Because that would help if you are going to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and wipeout malaria or whatever. Did you also know that he is a cuck? And basically the epitome of beta bucks in every possible way? Might want to stop and think about what are you actually trying to accomplish here.

You need to get away from an idea that individual items look good or bad. Its more about whether they fit an overall "look". Like when you can cycle through the individual parts of a skin in a video game but there's only one way they match. Build a mental image of "casual baboon", "baboon in the city", "baboon on vacation", "baboon out on the prowl". Then pick items that mix and match into those looks. Any "cool shirts" should be thrown out (and possibly burned). A good test is if you can walk i…

I hope it feels less guilty about... whatever it is you actually did... wear contacts? I did read the linked OYS and even a few older ones, and still could not get any sense of what you're trying to achieve. The only pattern seems to be that you are shit scared of you wife's emotions. Training wise personally I would just run both Deepwater cycles twice over 12 weeks then 6 weeks of Deepwater Advanced for a total of 18 weeks bulking. The latter 6 weeks maybe even at maintenance or a small deficit depending on any fluff accumulation. I also prefer to count calories as opposed to the meal plan style of that posts OP. But as written work will also work. Either way, you would likely end up 6-8lbs heavier and a lot leaner than you are now.

Barefoot is better than the wrong shoes. The right shoes are a little better than barefoot. Caveat is if you do need a heel in which case you’ll get a lot more out of Olympic lifting type shoes - you can try this by putting a little plate (or even a block of wood) under your heels (Although I probably would also wear any random shoes to test that). You should know immediately if it works.
/r/MarriedRedPill12/05/21 06:30 PM

You can get like 10-20% out of the right shoes. Ideally you’d try BOTH squat shoes and something with no heel like Chuck taylors and see what one worked for you but if your feet are fairly close together it’s likely to be the former. If wider and/or a more vertical shin then probably chucks. But I would rather squat barefoot than regular nike air type shoes - I have done this and hit 10% more easily.

I didn't ask why you're indifferent. I just think its odd that someone who writes so frequently about kids thinking for themselves, not believing you were/are especially damaged, not expecting special treatment, accepting people are flawed, making peace, not judging, not controlling etc etc etc would write this. This is the description of a relationship on a pedestal. Its just that the pedestal happens to be painted a super-scary shade of black and the relationship is disguised like a Scooby Doo…

is this... DEER? btw a 1,100lb total at 6ft/181lbs is definitely doable but here's something you likely don't realise yet: up to about a 900-1000lb "total" you are mainly just learning to flex bone. Not saying you haven't put on any muscle at all but as you gain strength there is an increasing correlation between lift numbers and LBM. Right about this point, if you are not bulking/cutting, it is unlikely you'll make much progress. i.e. its very unlikely you'll cut to "around" 181lb and your lift…

With the caveat that the above quote is in the context of high skill lifts, not retard strength, (and therefore diminishing returns kick in like a motherfucker) a trainable component of recovery ("work capacity") is still underrated. I’ve done this many (many) times. Consider that there is at least some probability that you are slightly off, wrong or completely on another planet wrt to your options but there is no chance you can read the minds of your boss, his boss and your former colleague. That possibility can exist without threatening you and be factored in to your strategy. Being fobbed off by the one other company you asked not an exit strategy. Generally 0.8g-1.5g/1lb total body weight. Usually lower end bulking, higher end or more when cutting but also if I’m using protein supplements. That’s a simple lifestyle change. I’ve found more benefit in dialling in carbs and salt as I’ve got bigger/stronger. I do try and get the protein in blocks of >40g at a time though. There’s more scientific consensus on the need for a significant serving size than there is on the range.

Don’t think of your TDEE as some theoretical number from a calculator. Track your daily body weight instead and eat whatever gives you an average weight gain of no more than 0.5lbs per week, measured over two weeks. Some people calculate the required surplus for lean mass based off the value for a pound of fat (3,500kcal). I see no reason it would be the exact same and in my experience it’s quite a bit higher. The goal of a business is profit but you can’t actively manage profit. So you manage revenue and overhead. Similarly, of course you want a certain body fat look but you need to manage your scale weight and the weights on the bar to get there.
