They probably don't. When I was still liberal, I was shocked (shocked!) to find out about a friend's friend who was a gay Republican. That was a small red pill for me.

While I agree that people shouldn't be hating on fat people for being fat (like fat jokes or bullying), I do think a pressure to stay thin is important. That is why you don't see many fat Asians - it's not a faux pas for family and friends to comment on their weight gain, such as "You have gained weight; you should really watch it."
