If you read up on her story, or list to the You're Wong About podcast about her you learn she wasn't particularly interested in marrying the guy and he basically had to convince her to marry him. He wore her down, promised to take care of her, etc, etc, and then the dude's kid's, who felt entitled to daddy's money, had her cut out of his estate. They just didn't want to share a nickel.
