I mean, you dropped that rant on a post from a guy who’s been married a few months. And the whole thing about “the state doesn’t want to pay any welfare and food stamps” is wild since, given the context of his post, it appears that’s exactly what you’re saying.

There is no world where spousal support is mandated for a marriage that lasted a few months. Especially with no kids involved.

Man, as soon as your ex started talking, you should’ve shut it down. No way would I have asked my current GF for proof she hadn’t blocked my ex. That level of drama is a massive red flag.

Dude she’s coming with papers. That ship has sailed man.

You can still do time with just your kids. Talk to your wife about it and yall schedule separate activities on some of those weekend times.

Well, you want solutions to the problem or just want to complain about them? You can’t touch the cameras because she has them placed in her areas. So find ways to deal with it. Don’t have private conversations in your home. Close doors to common areas when in use. Put your own cameras and listening devices up to ensure your truth doesn’t get turned into something else.

This is the part I’m currently struggling with. Every memory feels tainted by her affair. Honestly it feels like a lot of them somehow got blocked because I have a hard time even piecing together vacations we took. I know there were so many great memories but I can’t even feel good about them because of the way it all ended.

When, after several months of trying to get her to end her affair and work things out, I asked to start working on the divorce. She agreed and I called her that night. She asked if she could say one thing first. She proceeded to tell me she had hurt me, our kids, our family and she was willing to do anything to make it right. In a teared stupor, I told her I would think about it and let her know. That was Wednesday night around 10 pm. Friday morning I called her and said “I thought about it and …

Your kids are old enough that week on/week off would likely be way easier on them. 2/2/3 is for young kids. I’d pivot to that.

Was life easier? Yes. Do I regret leaving that cheating whore? Not one second of one day does that thought cross my mind.

Don’t even entertain conversations like this. She made it clear where she stood, decided to start dating others, and is now panicking as reality sets in. Let her panic. You focus on your future. She is the past and the past is over.

Months is not long. Have you married every woman you dated for months? How many times did you date a woman for months and then shortly after that ended? And research(not just one therapist) has shown that it’s wisest to wait at least a year and overnights should wait even longer in the presence of a child.
/r/Divorce_Men26/04/26 02:54 PM

I don’t know others’ dating experiences, but I can for sure say that a 4 month relationship is still in the very early stages in my experience.

How old are your kids? Especially if they are young, stop being in a hurry to introduce them. Take the time to make sure this relationship is going to last. I’ll never understand why people are in such a hurry to have their children meet a new partner.
/r/Divorce_Men26/04/26 01:47 PM
3

Because a revolving door of partners screws with a kid. Creates emotional instability and attachment issues. When two adults break up, at least they can communicate why to each other. When those two adults break up, those reasons don’t lessen anything for the child. “Why can’t Ms. Susie come play anymore?” then 3 months later “I wish Ms. Caroline could come back and play”. Then a few months after that “Ms. Joann was so fun. When is she coming back over”. That’s not healthy for children.
/r/Divorce_Men26/04/26 01:38 PM
1

So you decided it was more important to have your new GF be able to spend the night than to think about the emotional stability your child deserved? Hindsight is 20/20 but there is no way to know that relationship was going to work out a few months in.

The best advice I can give is to stick to your guns. You have the leverage because she’s the one who wants out so bad. Put together a list of everything you want. From assets to custody agreement and everything in between. If you’re reasonable, maybe you can avoid this being drawn out and still come out with most of what you want. The affair won’t factor in, but I’d get confirmation because one day you’re gonna need that to get out in front of the narrative.

My response is simple. “There wasn’t enough room for 3 people in our marriage”. I’m not keeping her secrets for her.

You said he’s new in the last week. Which isn’t true and I’m glad you have faith in her to have been faithful. But at the very least she monkey branched and likely had an emotional affair.

I get what you’re saying. My soon to be ex is keeping my last name I think. I haven’t asked. Don’t really care. Because to be honest, it’s unlikely anyone she meets in the future is going to associate her name with you. It is really of the least consequence.

Most people also don’t go on dates 1 week after “I want a divorce”. And just because you haven’t heard of him does not mean he wasn’t around. I mean, you really believe she just met this guy a few days before and is either picking him up or he’s picking her up?

Have you spoken to an attorney about that? Most states don’t consider infidelity when settling assets and future financial responsibilities.

Not necessarily. If wife was a 1099 employee she didn’t have taxes withheld, so filing jointly would cost OP more as he would have to contribute to her tax liability.

A tale as old as time it seems. Mine got into an affair and then started backdating her misery in our relationship. Basically said she was never happy, I was never supportive, etc. Affairs expose a person who was thought to be wholesome and loving for who they really are.

I mean, that’s not entirely unfair. Why would the new husband be expected to subsidize the child expenses. Alimony for sure should go away. But CS shouldn’t factor in other relationships or the income the 3rd party brings to the table.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable given that you have the kids half the time and only half the time. The way I look at it is my time with my kids is their time and my time without them is my time. Half of the week/month/year she/y’all can plan dates and such. The other half is already booked

Going for full custody while being gone for work is wild. You either change jobs so you can be around for your daughter or you don’t do that. But honestly, it sounds like your wife is burnt out. Not everyone is meant to be a stay at home parent.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/25 03:21 PM

Mine had no intrinsic value. I shoved it in one of the boxes she was packing because she cheated and it meant absolutely nothing to me anymore.
/r/Divorce_Men15/12/25 01:54 PM
3

It’s not that I’d expect any woman to raise mine. I don’t need that help. But a woman without kids either wants kids or doesn’t want anything to do with them. That’s not compatible with my situation. And I’m not dumb enough to say I’m not gonna date a single mom because she’s “raising another man’s kids”. If you’ve got kids yourself and you have that mentality then you’re naive and a hypocrite.
/r/Divorce_Men13/12/25 07:56 PM
7

I can tell you why I would do it. I have 2 kids but absolutely not having any more. Most women, (emphasis on most, not all) want kids, and the ones that don’t want kids don’t want to help a man raise theirs. As a single father, I’m more compatible with a woman who has kids than one who doesn’t. “Why would you choose the one raising another man’s children?” -what kind of hypocrite would he be if he thought like that given that he has a kid himself?
/r/Divorce_Men13/12/25 01:33 PM

I’m saying I’d go bankrupt fighting it in court before I’d just roll over and concede never being able to see my children. Why would he cut his losses when he still has a fight to fight? The courts haven’t given her full custody so telling him to cut his losses when he still has a chance to make sure he is part of his kid’s lives is just asinine. I’m not angry. I just think you’re the type of person who shouldn’t give advice to someone about fighting for his kids if you’re not willing to do what…
/r/Divorce_Men30/11/25 05:44 AM
1

If things don’t go his way in the divorce he should just come to terms with not seeing his kids grow up? This is awful advice.
/r/Divorce_Men30/11/25 03:59 AM
1

What are you talking about? In the first line he says “my ex has been fighting to take the kids away”. And he’s talking about her trying to take the kids away. Clearly he at least has some visitation. Suggestion he just give that up is the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever read from someone on this sub. He must love his kids more than you do. I’d go bankrupt before I left my future ex take my kids away like that.
/r/Divorce_Men30/11/25 02:43 AM
1

Which is why you fight to make sure she doesn’t get full custody because then she doesn’t have to get a court order to be approved to move the kids. If he has any shared custody, then she cannot take the kids out of a reasonable distance to facilitate exchanges. Custodial custody includes visitation which means that she cannot simply move the kids off, essentially robbing him of that visitation time.
/r/Divorce_Men29/11/25 09:21 PM

You may need to clarify something here, because if you’re suggesting he cut his losses and let his wife take his kids out of state, that’s the worst advice I’ve seen on this sub.

As someone going through this with a 3 and just turned 7 year old, can confirm. The 7 year old is struggling mightily. The 3 year old for the most part is just going with the flow.

When a woman says she’s not in love with you anymore, most of the time it’s because they’re experiencing some sort of love/lust/butterflies somewhere else.

My stbxw actually suggested we all sit down and talk a few months ago, less than a month after I found out about him. I told her she was crazy and that was the stupidest thing anyone has ever suggested to me. I was confident I would’ve beat the shit out of him if put in the same room. So yes, I’ve definitely wanted to hit the guy. But then I think about my kids and how much I’d regret that moment for the rest of my life.

No. He left. Then he had a “fling”. And she was going to take him back but then found out he was on dating apps(but only to talk to someone). Where’s the accountability?
