Came here to say this, but you already said it better. OP was right to run! This was only the beginning of his derailing tactics.

Have you been seeing someone consistently, and now he's acting up? Leaving you wondering what's changed and how to get back to the way things were? Don't fall for the sunk cost fallacy - just get rid of him. Being single is not a failure. Being single is not a "worst case scenario". The "worst case scenario" is ending up with a man who makes you doubt yourself everyday you're with him; who casts a shadow over your life and constantly tries to make you smaller. Thank you. Just last night, I final…

I haven't been on OLD for a while now, but that is not my experience! I ran into lots of men with midrange jobs, and a few professional artists. The ones I actually met were still low value though. 😅

I'm really sorry about the disappointment you're feeling, but it really does sound like you handled this quite well, all things considered. I know how it feels when someone gets your hopes up and then turns out to be so different than you thought. It's not your fault though. I suspect he's surprised you're not contacting him. If he ever does reach out again, be strong. You are worth much more than this.

I think you handled this very well. I'm sorry you were disappointed; I know how it feels. I'm glad he told you what you needed to know although he is still clearly making excuses (very weak). The next step is just, as others have said, to block, delete and forget. Nothing else you can do here and it seems to me like you didn't go wrong anywhere, it's just him.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've actually heard the exact story: traveled to meet some guy who ghosted me and then randomly met my s/o at a bar. It's insane. This should not encourage women to be reckless, but I'm glad it worked out for you. :)

Thank you. Added to my reading list. Vaguely on topic: yesterday my boyfriend, who I don't live with, asked me to spend my Sunday doing his gardening chores with him, under the guise of "I know you enjoy gardening". Do they really not understand that cultivating a piece of land that is my own is not the same as raking someone else's leaves? Anyway, I firmly refused. A small victory in my boundary-setting journey. I've definitely spent a lot of this relationship doing things with no benefit to me…

Congratulations!! This is great to hear. I love to read how some people were able to use the pandemic and lockdowns in their strategy to level up. Great work! I'm trying to work on similar issues myself and would love to hear specifics on how you asserted certain boundaries, if you are able to share anything without giving away identifying information.

Who contributed to your success so far? Ohhh, I like this one especially. If I had asked my most recent downward spiral this on the first date, I might have found out early that he was completely oblivious to all of his privilege and all the ways in which the women in his life (mother, sister and girlfriends) removed every obstacle for him to be successful. Rant over. Beyond vetting, it's also just a super interesting and thought-provoking conversation starter! Making a mental note for the futur…

Commenting for support of this because my upvotes are futile. So many people here are just assuming she voted for Trump. I'm sure they will now say that not voting at all is the same as voting for him. Whatever. The thing that bothers me most about this is the disdain some people express for, let's say, roughly speaking, rural white America. I think people would do well to show some grace to those who did not grow up in middle class progressive environments with access to good education.

I think your analogy doesn't really hold, because I don't think conservative ideas are at all incompatible with FDS. I think that is the whole point they're trying to make by having a conservative-identifying host: FDS is compatible with most political philosophies. I think we're in agreement about the variety of voices on the conservative side of the spectrum. In these times people forget there's a lot more nuance than Trump. I agree that many politicians on the right are terribly problematic w…

Ah, yes. I did not have such a strong reaction to Elle but think this is a very fair point. I think a lot of people had more issues with how Elle votes than with her ideas. I do understand that although I don't think it's constructive. Now, if there was a way to get a very accomplished conservative woman on the show, someone of the caliber of Gail Dines, would that be acceptable to the women who are now so offended? One challenge would be to find one who is interested in coming on the show. Prob…

I just want to say I wish people didn't use downvoting as a means to express disagreement. I think this is a valuable comment.

Well, I think they were clear about the fact that they wanted a conservative voice since the three hosts felt that they themselves were already representing the progressive side. I honestly think that was fair and generous. Would it have been different to you if they had had a leftist political guest first?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/10/21 09:13 PM

Well, you are right. But I just don't buy that it's constructive to ostracize that large a chunk of the (female) population - on a platform that is supposed to be about dating, might I add. Do conservative women cause harm by voting for Trump? Well yes, I would agree with you on that. Does that mean they are all racists, or does that invalidate every thought and opinion they voice? No. Don't be ridiculous. This divide is not helping anyone. I did not hear this woman advocate for anything extreme…

Well, to be fair, she identified as a former redpill, that she came across the idea on her post-divorce search. The idea that men should lead is related to that but it was clear she abandoned those ideas in favor of a more fds-aligned philosophy. As for the thing where conservatives vote for their own self-interest: you don't have to approve of her choices, and I understand the perspective that she is misguided, but now you are taking a lot of things she said out of context and calling her a rac…

I am hearing that you don't ever want to allow any woman who votes republican to have a voice in FDS. That is so, so sad. You believe you are on the right side of history (I don't even disagree with you, although I think you could be a whole lot less sanctimonious about it), and you want to exclude all these women based on who they vote for. You don't even really (care to) know their backgrounds and their reasons. This is everything I hate about America, truly.

I missed the controversy, did not see any negativity prior to this post, but: I enjoyed the episode a lot. As a woman who grew up in a conservative environment, a lot of what she said really resonated with me and I thought she was overall very nuanced. I am hurt that apparently there needs to be a backlash.. I really appreciated the effort to provide a forum for women on both sides of the political divide. I am also not originally from the US, and another thing that the episode touched upon is i…

Thanks for posting. I'm sad and angry for her. Of course, the asymmetry in law enforcement response and media attention for white women vs. women of color is a problem, and I don't fully understand the mechanisms behind it. I'm also sad and angry for Destini Smothers, who was also murdered by her partner, and whose name I learned from a Facebook post in response to the Petito case. All these women deserve the same attention and the same resources as Gabby Petito. How can we make sure they get th…

If I had a daughter, I would absolutely want her to read this subreddit! I pray my niece will have a community like this that empowers her to take no shit, once she is of dating age. And if I had a son, I would sure hope he didn't display any of the behaviors that would make the term apply to him. Maybe this person should just focus more on raising their kids right. That's one way to address their concerns without needing to harass other people on the interwebs.

These people focus so much on the term "scrote" and how offensive they perceive it to be, but they wilfully ignore the fact that it is only used to refer to certain men based on their behavior. It is in a similar category, but imo not as bad, as "karen" and not NEARLY as bad as the dozens of derogatory terms that are much more commonly used to describe all women regardless of how they act. I'm pretty offended by how offended these people get, actually.

What a terrible thing to experience. Sorry you went through that. He sounds awful. This being said, this one sentence is the best thing I've read all year: I couldn’t take it anymore, so I just…blocked him. Congratulations! Don't feel stupid. Most of us have made similar mistakes. The way you handled it in the end is amazing. And the fact that he cared enough to make a fake Facebook to stalk you confirms that you are the hero of this story. Better things are in store for you!

I once went out with a guy from OLD who shared on the first date (haha) that he had been in jail (recently) for reckless endangerment or something like that after he had broken his child's leg in the car when he was throwing a tantrum. Obviously it was an aCciDeNT and his wife was such a resentful bitch for telling law enforcement he had some anger management issues. Lots of whining about only getting supervised visits with his kids, and of course it's all the wife's fault for some reason! Woe i…

Also, can we talk about "sapiosexuals"? The cringiest of all humblebrags. And I guarantee you that none of these scrotes who call themselves "sapiosexuals" actually like smart women. Or are very smart themselves.

This really is one of the hardest things for me. I know all of this but whenever a guy needs to find something, my first instinct is to drop whatever I'm doing and help him find it. To be fair, it's the same when my female roommate needs something. It's hard to let go of the idea that I need to be of service.

Wow, I am so surprised to read this because.. I received my first dose of Moderna eleven days ago. No side effects other than sore arm. Six days ago I began bleeding, like a light period. It hasn't stopped. I have no other symptoms or discomfort, only the light but ongoing bleeding. Additional info: I am on birth control and not supposed to have a period right now. My regular periods last only about three days usually.

Anyone have experience with or knowledge of the process to obtain child support if paternity is disputed?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/04/21 01:36 PM

The article says a man is not required to pay if the woman has an abortion. Since paternity is only established after birth, I would assume there's also no way the court can require a man to cover the cost of Plan B.

I was very shocked to learn this was something he was genuinely concerned about. Truly, the self-importance! Like his seed consists of tiny diamonds or something. You can keep your genes, boy. Not this particular man, but yes: the fuss they make about wearing a condom! The cognitive dissonance! Also, sorry to hear about the removed condom - hope that guy burns.

I recently had a related conversation with a man I am seeing (one of a few red flags I'm afraid..): he was telling me about a real concern men, including him, had about women somehow tricking them by getting pregnant. I reacted STRONGLY to this. Trick men ... for WHAT? You seriously don't need a phd to understand that women always bear the brunt of any pregnancy and child birth, wanted or unwanted, both physically and financially. I suspect it is not actually easy for women to "go after" the bio…

Love this. It reminds me of the most important way I have grown since my teens, which is that I've stopped being envious or resentful of other women or comparing myself excessively to them. I view other women now as either mentors or allies. I sometimes recognize toxic thinking and insecurity in the form of rivalry and envy in other women but I don't engage in it anymore. I'm in academia and I make a point of lifting other women up, even if they haven't adopted this mindset yet. I'm very proud o…

Oh my god. I'm so happy to read this. To be fair, I really enjoyed the movie because of the wonderful octopus and I learned things. But yes I found the self-obsessed loser filmmaker very vexing. In addition to being bothered by his misplaced sense of entitlement to this animal's life, I couldn't help but think of this man's wife. You have so many transferable skills as a teacher, and you are used to hard work. All you have to do now is carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man. ;) Good luck, fellow soon-to-be-former-teacher!

Let me tell you. I always thought I wanted to be a teacher. After college I got a teaching job at a good college. I was blinded by the perceived prestige of working in higher ed and accepted precarious conditions with short-term contracts and ridiculous workloads for YEARS. I did so much damage to my body trying to keep up with the workload, teaching courses I found boring that btw had nothing to do with my expertise. Don't focus on men, but only on bettering yourself. Earn money. Study. Travel. Be very selective if you want to date, but remember that you don't need to date at all. I wish I had spent more of my twenties working on myself instead if trying to be attractive to (and obsessing over) some dude. Also, more specifically: - educate yourself on healthy diet and exercise, and go on the biggest adventures you can within your budget.
