To put it in layman’s terms, say you have 2 groups of 100 people. One group had 10 people that got HIV, and the test group 3 people got HIV. That’s a 70% relative risk reduction. HOWEVER, in the studies from these figures, the test groups could not have sex for 6 weeks because of the healing time, while the control groups were still out engaging in unprotected sex during that portion of the trial.
