It's also more accurate. Undesirable means incapable of being desired. Invisible means not seen. In my experience many men who go unseen have plenty of potential to be desirable if they're seen. Something about a bushel basket.

I think it's difficult and a challenge, and we can make a difficult task more difficullt by complicating it with a lot of theories or posturing or defensiveness, which I think is what the OP is about.

That's a thoughtful response. I think beyond swipe apps which seem to be a scourge for most people who use them, social media generally appears to make our world smaller but when it replaces face to face interactions it makes the gaps between us bigger. We know too much about each other, and some of it's true. And "I'll fuck anyone, how about it?" probably never really comes across as well as some men think. Even for the women who say "sure".

But then maybe that's less about hating women and more about trying to protect his snese of self. It's also effective. Men's version of small penis insults.

I'm part of a couple and have been since before any reasonable definition of "current", so I'm kind of an onserver, but dating was always a challenge for me so some of the men's complaints here, the ones where they talk about feeling left out or invisible resonate deeply. I still have the white bandages and dark glasses. And I agree, men as a group are all over the place, but so are women. Something about monoliths. On this site I'd agree that it's more common for man A to hold contradictory vie…

I'm not justifying violent behavior, but anger is a common symptom of depression for men. We don't do fear, sadness or shame very well, but anger we pretty much nail. It's masking those "softer" emotions in a lot of cases, and for a lot of men the mechanism to jump from fear or sadness to anger is pretty wekll oiled. I also think men's depression is underdiagnosed as a result. Edited a word.

If your point is that the RP is a craven approach to life, at least the way it seems to be talked about, then I agree. If you're saying that women are freely participating but that's on men, I can't help but wonder WTF?

Stealing a quote of yours from a different exchange because it fits ours. As an average looking woman I don’t expect the same leeway and interpretation that a really attractive woman gets. I can’t get away with the same behavior. At all. I don’t get the same treatment. That’s just life. First, I agree that bias is the wrong word to use to describe attraction. I also wonder about the value of this discussion, but a lot of men can't seem to get past this fear of being settled for, and while it's n…

And I've found a woman worth being with and I also feel fortunate. What I don't feel the need to do though is to tell less fortunate people that their desires for the thing I greatly value, their longing for the thing I have and cherish is somehow not a big deal because they won't die without it. And now that I think about it, I'd die a little if I lost her.

I think men who seem to want to have conversations with or including women on sites like this hurt their cause with their word choices. Some men just want to ba crude, or to signal to other men. But if you genuinely want to engage with a woman or women, is it really that much harder to say something like "connect with" or even "get a date" or "get some reciprocal interest"? TLDR; if you see women as part of your audience here, consider their feelings.

Why are you so intent on telling men who are struggling with their dating lives that there's really no hope for them. On a case by case basis, there may be no hope, or none in the short term. But this horse of yours is dead and has been for a while now, so maybe quit dragging it here beating it every day or two.I Look, I'm not sure anything will have much direct impact on the current dating dynamics. Out of touch on the basic argument that there's no transfer of skill or approach, and missing the fact that experience isn't just or primarily about being a good lay. It's at least as much about learning what you like. Who you like sexually.

I just checked and neither I nor my argument is made of straw. You seem determined that we have to have entered a new social order that is really the state of nature and therefore the only order that can rightly exist. Yet you just declare that without any actual evidence to back it up. I agree with your first paragraph, btw. Although I suspect many of the men arguing for society's benefit know they're blowing smoke. And they're angry and some of them just want women to change. The patriarchy's …

Who is going to want to fuck somebody who society is helping get fucked? Help them and find out. And by help, I mean a societal structure where more boys and men thrive. I'm invested in more people, and men in this case but generally more people having fulfilling lives. You seem the opposite. On this issue and most issues, it's rare. Can't disagree. But for what it's worth, I'm pretty much a have. No one would be dazzled by me or my history, but I've had some fun and I'm happy now. I wish that for other people because why wouldn't I?

It literally is. I'm not sure you know the meaning of the word. That it's a need doesn't obligate anyone to provide it, but maybe it does obligate a caring society to at least consider whether we might do more to help people meet that need. Helping them be better people who are better able to attract a partner the old fashioned non-coercive way that preserves everyone's rights and autonomy.

It feels right. I'm close to my SO in ways I'm not with friends. Sex is a supreme act of trust and vulnerability, and I need and benefit from that type of closeness. As far as masturbation, on average I give myself better orgasms than she gives me or participates in. On average. But the best are with her. And when they are more pretty good or I don't finish, it's still a great experience.

You do not need it There's where you're wrong. Until this claim your argument was sound. A slam dunk, so much so that it's really not necessary, unless you're just out to earn your daily attaboys. Which of course........ But I digress. Men who outright claim or clealry imply that they have a right to sex have to logically believe that the woman they want has no right to refuse. I'm 100% opposed to stripping women of their autonomy. If someone suggests that, oppose that suggestion and that person. Having said that, are the only real problems those that kill people? Is everything else on hold til we cure death? And maybe let people decide what makes them happy. That's what autonomy means. Becoming happy is each person's job and some won't succeed, but it's not for you to name the terms.

Do you notice how often men claim that others think their (the men's) dating issues are a moral or character failing? There is some of that here at least indirectly, but that's not my point. I think the men who complain about their singleness being a judgment on their person genuinely believe it is. They're making that judgment, and projecting it onto others. The few times those others feed into this feeling just reinforces it. That is one reason why someone might beat a dead horse. There are ot…

It's also not a stretch to note that this kind of forum might be a place a person can vent their frustration. I don't favor being obnoxious, but the anonymity here might make that momentarily attractive in a way that it isn't elsewhere. We also don't know how dating or relationship issues might change a person. I wouldn't claim it's usually the case, but at least some of the time a disagreeable person might be so because they're frustrated, as opposed to being frustrated because they're difficul…

I see something like just world stuff here pretty regularly. It usually happens in a context where the discussion gets heated and a person who struggles to date gets obnoxious. Then the other person say they can see why the currently obnoxious person can't get a date. I think the person can appear to be generalizing the moment into an explanation for the person's struggles. Maybe, maybe not. But that's not the point. If body shaming is a shitty thing to do, then it's a shitty thing to do whether a case can be made that someone's choices contributed to their shamed traits or not. It's a "be the change you want to see" kind of thing.

The truth is that most women do bring more to the table than most men just by virtue of being female, I think the original text of the Declaration of Independence read "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, but women bring more to the table than men" but Abigail Adams told John he and the other authors were being simps so they edited it down. True story.

You're right that men are the cause of the imbalance, but we're not going to change except in a thought experiment. But individual men can help themselves immensely by looking at women more critically and finding someone they really like. That reduces your odds of finding someone by just about exactly the % of women you'd be at least a little unhappy with. That's not a loss.

I think the men who feel extremely demeaned by ordinary rejections are overly sensitive to the experience. Maybe they actually experience rejection different fro most people. Maybe they've been rejected so often that the pain sort of accumulates and kills their self esteem. Your list is a thoughtful one. And with a slightly different slant, I agree that men do a crap job of advocating for their issues to be heard. I think shame about having issues often gets in the way. I think men (or women) should accept rejection gracefully. The first rejection or the 101st. How someone behaves toward the person who rejects them is fair game for your judgment, but you seem to want to tell people how to feel. You're not just noting that it's maladaptive to be as dramatic as some people can be, you're demanding that they stop. You asked why men might be overly sensitive to rejection. What you assume in each of these many similar threads with identical themes is that this brief moment in dating is the one true moment. That all the unnatural developments that brought us here, things like social media, online dating, the current political climate, and a recent pandemic to name some, have revealed a natural order of things. I’m sometimes surprised guys are jarred by any closing of the gap since they’re used to interacting the way they do. I think men either believed or wanted to believe that women were more genteel than they really are at baseline. To be fair, women wanted men to believe that too. Then in my view women have changed more the last 30 years than men have, like I say narrowing the coarseness gap. We weren't ready for that.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/25 04:04 PM
1

That's probably true, but it's true for people. Where I agree is that the internet and the barrage of media in general has coarsened us. In those media and just out and about. In my experience women are still less coarse than men but they've narrowed th gap and so they've changed more in this regard over tha last 2 or 3 decades. And it can be jarring to experience.. But while honesty and coarseness overlap, they're not the same thing.

There's a performative aspect to how men and women talk when they feel like they can open up. Those overheard conversations aren't good indicators of what men or women actually think or feel. They can be but they aren't necessarily. I think most people have a bit of a cruel streak. Some pent up hostility. How we treat people is more important than what we say in an unguarded moment.

I'm not red pill because it tells you the sky is blue, and claims this is some revealed truth the powers that be were trying to hide from you. It also states or seems to routinely lead men to conclude that women are a sort of sub-species. Having said that, the sky is blue part can be true and still not much help to some men. That proverbial 5'4" bald Indian janitor for example ca…

If there's nothing to fear, why are they so afraid?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/25 04:16 PM

If you accept that men are often not adept at being vulnerable about their needs and so express them crudely (or clinically with a lot of jargonn) as a sort of cover, it makes more sense. So while a lot of men will deny it, some % who say they do X for pussy are actually saying they do X in the hope of finding love. Not that pussy=love, but attracting a woman is a prerequisite for romantic love.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/25 08:50 PM

When you mention a standard someone doesn't meet and that standard is fairly common, and the person is struggling to feel attractive or loveable, they don't hear a lone voice but instead a loud chorus you've just joined in their mind. My mind, who am I kidding? I just privately feel stung but I've never made it about fairness. Those who do are likely speaking from emotion and not really making a thoughtful argument.

You offered your comment regarding your expectations as the reason to ask the question. It's right there (here) in your linked comment. The woman in the video seems to be saying that it's natural for men she just met to provide things for her. Like she's entitled to that. Then your comment about women knowing "their worth" and therefore them expecting what you say they deserve is also entitled sounding. So if that's princess treatment and a woman thinks she deserves that, then she also deserves the kind of weak ass man who will take that bargain.

TRP seems predicated on the idea that men were lied to. That there was a consistent and maybe maliscious effort to mislead men about what and who is attractive. The people selling TRP really focus on this to get men who feel a bit despondent about their dating lives angry instead. Anger feels better than dispair, so it's a good hook. I agree that we're too tribal, especially the last 15 years or so for the reasons you cited. Tribalism by definition in this context means holding one group's needs above another's. People who think and feel along group indentity lines are going to have trouble seeing the other group member's views without bias. And mutual problems can't get addressed. The "friend zone" thing is so off base. Women suggesting friendship to a man they aren't already friends with are just trying to get out of an awkward moment without being cruel or antagonistic. If she's not already your friend she's not really offering frindship. Also, you can't be put anyplace you don't want to go. I think it (the German model) put a real emphasis on civilizing enough boys to have a functional leadership class for the next generation, and if a lot of male children struggled so be it, that was the cost of creating the elite or even a sort of bureaucratic class. By accident really most girls fit that system better than most boys for the reasons we've discussed.

I think on average women's language skills are better than men's. Those language skills are building blocks for most academic subjects. I believe the studies showing boys are more active than girls in infancy before parental bias would influence it still hold up. Those studies showed that the higher activity level and greater motor involvement in dealing with things lasted into childhood. We don't want to sit still. I don't think their moms in the west told them being nice and studious would get them a girlfriend. Those aren't bad traits, but they aren't draws and are more valuable later in a relationship. Men who say they were deceived into believing that's what consistently attracts women just wished that were true because they needed it to be.

I think this is the point to make. There are few social repurcussions for divorce or splitting up less formally except in very conservative religious circles. I don't think that's a bad thing myself, but regardless the ship has sailed. The institution of marriage may be stronger now that people feel less forced to enter into it and are doing so later in life when they're better settled and informed.

If therapy doesn't appeal to men who are struggling emotionally and by definition then perhaps not at their best, should those struggling men change or should the way therapy is marketed and carried out change?
