Definitely something that can happen, but this is overall a pretty weak take in my opinion. Men typically don’t WANT to stay platonic, rather then a simple misinterpretation of emotions

But that’s when it comes down more to personal opinion on why a stat is what it is, which is exactly the point. You just did the same thing that you’re accusing other people of doing, which is pointing out that a statistic’s reason for existence isn’t often able to be proven 100% to only be narrowed down to a singular factor; it could also be that men love harder and are more willing to try to work through problems. This is literally the case with most humans (And likely you as well): We don’t like to face stats that contradict our beliefs in a way that can’t be explained. For example, the divorce stat you brought up suggests that the reason women divorce so much is men’s fault, but we can look at other examples as well; lesbians divorce twice as much as gay men, which supports the theory that modern women are naturally more trigger-happy on the divorce button then men are.
