I'll be honest here, that I don't really often pay attention to other people's problems. I tend to worry most about myself, as it is part of self-sustenance. I don't really believe a lot of hearsay about what happens to "other people" and as such I rather hear things from the horse's mouth. They held the same internship position. If you held their resumes side by side and erased their names/contact info, you couldn't tell them apart. I suppose it could have happened to two males applying as well, however, because it happened to a female and not a male, it is a huge source of documented embarrassment for the college. If she wanted to, she could sue them for the difference, but then she knows they'd fire her. And that's a can of worms she isn't interested in.

I accept your questions. Vicky's internship was rejected because the place she did her internship at was, at the time, disliked by the college. However, she and Jim applied at the same time, and they were both needed as there was more than one job opening for the same job, same posted pay, same benefits. They were not interviewed - their applications were submitted in multiple parts online.
