Well, Conservatives want to keep things "traditional", meaning, women are mom's and housewife's, while men are the bread winners and fathers. They believe it is the males duty to defend the nation from threat, HOWEVER, they also believe if any women who can meet the criteria in training the same as men, then they are just as deserving to serve as men. The draft is simply because men, being the physically stronger sex, is a part of the responsibility written in the constitution.
