Same here in Poland. Every day in a bus, crowded but at the same time isolated. When I left the city for a smaller town I gained a new life.

Male loneliness has nothing to do with suburbs, or at best the connection is not significant compared to other factors. I get that you might come to that conclusion as an American, but we have nowhere near this level of suburbanization here in Europe and the problem of male loneliness isn't any smaller.

Well no, there was feudalism before capitalism where status was desired, but with the industrial revolution that has changed. The underlying premise remains the same - be the wealthiest and most respected. If anything, capitalism helped more men attain status, because it was no longer tied to the bloodline.

You are mistaken if you think that the idea of attaining higher status comes from capitalism. On the contrary, capitalism came from the fact that women prefer to marry up, so men had to strive for wealth and status to be able to marry. If women didn't select for wealth and status there would be no incentive for men to compete and struggle to attain it.

Because they both are basically saying "man up", they just have a different view on what it means to be a man.

That's the thing, equality can only be theoretically possible if you assume that everyone can be nurtured to the same level, which is not true. Everyone is born with innate qualities, these can be affected to some degree with nurture, but cannot be completely overridden. And so you will have people who are innately more outgoing and extraverted, they will be more popular and have easier time fulfilling leadership roles; there will be people who are more intelligent, they will have an easier time…

Left and Right are very different between the US and EU, but what they have universally in common is the foundational belief: the Left believes that everything depends on nurture, therefore men can be taught (or rather, social engineered) to be less masculine, while the Right believes that nurture cannot change nature, therefore everyone must fulfill their traditional gender role. Both of these beliefs are flawed, which is why I don't consider myself as either Leftist or Rightist. Left's "tabula…

Consider being more polite to strangers next time. That's not what I meant. You can find your own meaning and value in your own life and that's good, this is what I personally follow and this is why I would never consider suicide, but you need to understand that not everyone shares that belief. In fact it's a minority that can actually mentally sustain that lifestyle. Humans are social creatures and our brains need social acceptance. Many men simply cannot find pleasure in living by themselves, …

Look, no offense, but it doesn't matter whether you or I think that men aren't expendable. What matters is how we're treated, and we're treated like we are expendable. At this point we're starting to ask a question "what does it mean to be?" Are we what we think we are, or are we what we are perceived to be? If you lived, but no one ever knew of your existence and your existence left no impact for anyone to feel, could you really say that you existed? That's a problem many men face, they feel th…

that men actually are expendable Well, aren't we? In many countries mandatory military service only applies to men. As if it was ok for us to die on the field, while women and children run or hide.

The same as "real communism". "Real feminism hasn't been tried, it's actually a really good idea guys I swear, it's just that no one ever implemented it successfully."

No, you don't understand. Holocaust happened to specific people in Europe, it didn't affect Jews in America despite the fact that they too were Jewish just as the victims in Europe were. The same goes to women, they don't deserve any kind of "reparations" for the mistreatment of women in history solely on the premise that they too are women.
/r/MensRights04/10/22 08:53 AM

Yeah, I support the movement, but some people here just want everything to be a mens' rights issue, when things are a little more nuanced than that. Looking here at mobilization in russia for example.

Men are different than women and have different interests. I can join a car club but it will be a sausage party. I can join a shooting club and it will also be a sausage party. Anything related to science or a semi-dangerous sport will be a sausage party. If I wanted to have the same hobby as women, I'd have to go to a dancing club or some shit like that which doesn't interest me and I'm not going to pretend that it does just to meet women.

I don't think either gender sees cheating as something to be proud of, I hope you don't actually have this low of an opinion of men. Hard for me to tell, honestly, because none of my male friends has ever cheated on their girlfriends, it was always the other way around.
/r/MensRights25/08/22 12:26 PM

Through my and my friends' personal experiences I'm more inclined to believe it's women who cheat more often, so I'm biased, but thank you for linking this article. I'd argue that it's just the percentage of people who admit to have cheated and due to differences in the perception of polygamy in relation to gender I would say that this discrepancy in admittance is because men are more likely to consider having multiple sexual partners as something to be proud of, while women are more likely to c…

I live near Pol-Ukr border and there's quite a few men going in and out. In fancy cars too, like Mustangs, Audi Q7s, Lexuses, etc. The truth is they can leave but they have to bribe their way through their border guard, so in effect it's men that can't afford to leave are forced to stay.

It's a simplification for a biological phenomenon. Yes, we're humans and we're capable of creating our own criteria for partners, but we're also still animals driven by instincts and in the grand scheme of evolution men are driven to want offspring and women are driven to want safety and stability. There are outliers who don't conform to that rule and on a personal level we should always treat people as individuals, but the general trend is as it is and in the big numbers game called social dyna…

Could you explain how this is "demonizing women"?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/07/22 03:50 PM

This would only remotely make sense if we forced women to bear children, which we do not, so why should men be forced to provide and defend?

Just a correction, because I live in Poland - it's not that we're not letting men in, it's that Ukrainian border guard doesn't let men out unless bribed.

In my experience, women earn less because they typically lack confidence to negotiate for more. There are of course women with confidence, as well as men without confidence. But the difference is: no one cares about a man without confidence.

Wtf, do you think casual sex is the solution? Men aren't lonely when they lack sex, they are lonely when they lack affection, feel unwanted and unnoticed. Legal prostitution isn't going to fix jackshit. You're just reducing men's issues to primitive sexual drive, while we, as social animals, need to fulfill our social needs.

Replace "male" with "female" and "mandatory military service" with "mandatory population replacement birthing service" and see how many people agree with you. I guarantee it will be a lot less than this.

I meant that we don't have any individual traits that are exclusive to humans. We're not the only ones to have high intelligence, self-awareness, opposite thumbs, speech and high social skills, depth perception, etc. We're just the only ones to have all this at the same time.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/22 10:45 AM

We don't have anything other animals don't have. We just happen to have the unique combination of traits that allowed us to create a civilization, and by extension, allowed us to spend less time and energy to survival and more to contemplation.

What? "Physical domination" is basic biology, not an ideology. Sexual dimorphism is a thing. "Financial domination" well yeah, when you financially value labour, then it's not a surprise when someone who performs more labour is more financially valuable. But when you financially value sex, then suddenly it turns out that women dominate men. What changed is the balance of power. Women had something men wanted and men had something women wanted. Now, it's a lot harder for men to win over women, be…

I agree. Men simply lose more when being cheated on, because women's sexuality is more valuable. Biologically speaking of course. Also, notice how some feminists try to justify cheating on men by saying that it's somehow the man's fault that he didn't care enough for his woman so she had to cheat on him. That's even more disgusting than calling someone a cuck.

As with many issues we as men face, this too is because of the fact that men never were emancipated. Women got emancipated. They no longer need to fulfill the roles of housewives and mothers, but men never received such freedom. We still are expected to fulfill the roles of providers and defenders, and many men just don't know how to cope with such unjust burden and turn to physical or verbal violence. Either against other men to "secure their status" or against women to "fight the injustice".

This is because historically, women performed the reproduction, while men performed the labour. Marriage was a legal agreement, in which the man gave his labour to the woman in return for her reproductive capabilities. Men depended on women to create offspring and women depended on men to provide for them. The roles were balanced. Now, women received labour rights, they no longer depend on men, but men still depend on women, because they cannot create offspring by themselves. This creates a powe…

I'm not left-wing, I don't agree with everything that is being said here, but posts like this are why I'm glad I came across this sub. Very coherent and argumentative explanation, better than what I would have come up with, but alas English is not my first language.

I didn't see that video before, but I agree. The dissolution of the family unit and the roles both genders play in it is shaking the very foundations of our society and I can only hope that it's not too late for the western civilization. As an anecdote, here's what Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom had to say about feminism: “I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of ‘Women’s Rights,’ with all its attendant horrors, on which her …

I think these issues are intertwined. Look how feminism benefited capitalism by nearly doubling the available workforce and greatly reducing wages. Men no longer had to provide for the entire family, because women could also make money.

Where did I say that it's the only difference? I said it's the main difference. Of course I agree there's more to it, but I think lack of access was a huge factor. Notice how infidelity was always present, regardless of values that society at any point in time held.

Yet, extremely intelligent people (above 140 IQ) have significantly higher difficulty socializing with other people, hinting that evolution doesn't "want" high intelligence to prevail. Just look at how the vast majority of geniuses in human history were childless or even virgins. Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Mikołaj Kopernik, etc.

Hypergamy was present at all times. The main difference between then and now is that the information bubbles people lived in were magnitudes smaller. Being a female, your choice was mainly limited to males in your tribe/village. Now, not only we live in cities with thousands and millions of people, but you can just go on the internet and find attractive, successful men of high status, so why should you settle with that middle-class loser next door?

That's a very good point. I think people generally underestimate the impact our instincts have on our behavior (this may be due to the false preconception that humans are somehow apart from other animals and that animal instincts don't pertain to humans). I don't have any experience with pregnant women, but I definitely understand where you're coming from and I think it's a valuable input. The dissonance between our evolutionary adaptations to survival and the security and freedom of modern soci…

This is why I don't agree with equality in conscription. Men are expendable and more fit for combat - ok, I can accept that, but that should also mean that men have more privileges in other aspects of society to counterweight their disposability.
