Don't sue the county. The taxpayers will just get raped a little harder this year, the perpetrators will lose nothing in terms of resources, power, or freedom; and there will be no reason not to commit the crime again. If we want to change this shit, the people responsible need to suffer personal consequences- seizure of all property and life in jail would be a good start.

OP, there are good people everywhere. Not too many at RU, but there are some. I work for them full time, and my department is the most rabidly conservative bunch of people you will ever meet in the Northeast. I'm earning a second degree (that they're paying for) and if you can ignore the SJW professors, you will get back 200% of your investment in awesome relationships with the right-wing professors. Hang in there, best place there is to enjoy the decline!

Priority 1: Smash the individual assignment. The professor has given you the opportunity to excel without John's cooperation. Priority 2: Deal with the John stuff. If you did a good job on the assignment, this step may take care of itself. If not, hopefully you have everything in writing- text or email.
