Using more brain matter wouldn’t be a sign of higher intelligence. From an evolutionary perspective, our brains have gotten smaller as we’ve evolved but the number of connecting neurons and overall efficiency of the brain has increased, ergo, the less brain you use, the more efficient it is, and over the eons, the unnecessary mass is discarded through your offspring.
