Because false accusations are far less reflected in media than just the accusations themselves are. | 1 | Why Women Lie about RapeIts also a lot worse when these accusations are anonymous or given by aliases because even if they are discredited, they don't have to appear to the public (which makes lying easier if they are) while the accused person in the public gets the scrutiny by the Jane Doe from third party representation. So they wouldn't have to apologize when they can just remove themselves and stay in anonymity if it gets dismissed but some people will take the fact an accusation was made at all as credibility.
