100%. Weirdly the thing that helped me get over this is that I am close to a woman who was an actual victim of sexual assault. She empathized with my constant fear more than anyone else. With that said, there are reasonable precautions I still take even though I don't live in fear (recorded student meetings, always left my door open & made sure other teachers could hear us...)

Agree about effort based approaches (spending x time doing it) vs outcome based approaches (running a mile in x minutes). The problem is they can be bureaucratic/slow to adapt and without using modern technology effort based approaches are expensive to enforce.

A large part of why they have fitness requirements for jobs that clearly don't require you to be fit is because the military and VA spend over 100 billion a year on healthcare. Do you have a source? Even if this number is true there are two huge caveats: 1) a large portion of sexual assaults are done by unknown attackers. This means that you could have a high probably of getting convicted if accused and a low percent of cases ending in convictions 2) things and changed drastically over the past couple decades. I would say that now Americans act under a presumption of guilt in sexual assault cases

Do nothing but document everything you can. Right now it is gossip that is limited to your university. If you sue here, it will show up in background checks. People have a presumption of guilt so that would prevent you from getting a lot of jobs. It sucks, but just bite the bullet, put your head in your books, and get out of there. An MIT economist (I think it was Wasserman) did some cool analysis with exams in France that were graded by the student's teacher and an anonymous grader. She found that teacher bias accounted fro 20% of teh gender gap (boys are lagging).

There was a recent controversial paper (i think she was at harvard but might have been fired for it) that showed a lot of trans people became that way due to social pressures and a desire for attention/acceptance. I imagine that there is a similar desire for attention with suicide attempts that are not aimed at death, but attention (we all know the person that tried to "kill themselves" by taking 6 ibuprofen).

I think a decent compromise to brigading you can actually prove as brigading would be to have a cleaned metric, with the option to have an uncleaned metric. The last ghostbusters was bad, but a lot of the negative reviews were by trolls who went there without having seen the movie to leave overly bad reviews. Those are not studies. Those are a few prosecutors shooting from the hip. While they should be considered because they are more flexible in labeling an accusation false (a person is clearly lying, but they cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt they are...), they don't have the rigor of a peer reviewed paper.

Is this K-12 or is this at a University? If it is at a University, what class is it? In my old department, there was an instructor who got fired because he focused on political stuff instead of teaching what he was supposed to. If it is K-12 and you are at a private school, I would recommend complaining. If it is a public school, there is not much you can do, as teacher tenure will let the teacher do what they want.

Did they control for the age of the doctor? Sexism used to be awful, so older female doctors are rare. I have seen somewhere that younger doctors perform better. If they do not control for age then gender affects the average age of the doctors which affects the patient outcomes.

I do think there should be exemptions made for cases where DNA was gathered but we lack the technology today to investigate or if DNA was gathered and then the match is found 60 years from today.
