All the time. I work a job where I need to quite often. It doesn't phase me in the slightest. I'm in the Pacific Northwest where I can't really expect that someone else will do it for me since we're all so passive here.

I really appreciate your response. As someone whose mother started to threaten to forcibly emancipate me at 14 (yes, I now know that isn't how it works), so much of your story is relatable to me, and I'm a dude. Hope you're out kicking ass now.

I actually host events as part of my job! Yes, the guests often invite me to their parties and stuff after. I have met hundreds of people from all walks of life, partying/networking/hanging out in my event space here in Portland. I still find that the majority of the women anywhere near my age (25) at these events are there with boyfriends, or bring up their partners after a few minutes of talking to them; I try to sell the event go-ers who are there as guests (not the people who booked the venu…

Gonna be honest - I am not dating somebody who has no friends. It's not tremendously difficult to make friends, even if they're just Discord buddies you met playing Overwatch, or a couple who you played MTG with at a card shop, or whatever your proclivities are. I love cars, so I make friends all the time within that hobby. I broke up with a girl of 2-and-a-half years, and one of the reasons I struggled to end things for a year with her was due to her lack of friends, and therefor support system…

I think the red pill definitely has some merits, but also way too much misogynistic bullshit. However, they're the loudest about how blasphemously hard it is for young men to date in 2024, and I wish others would speak up about it without fear of sounding whiny or sexist. The vast, vast majority of men will struggle to date online. The vast, vast majority of men feel that approaching a woman is stressful. The vast majority of men do not want to mistime an approach and end up losing their job, ma…

Bro the pee I did off a cliff at Angels Rest just outside Portland would absolutely beg to differ.

There are a myriad of things at play here. I'll start with one, which is just simple numbers. Modern medicine has made it so that people are just less likely to die. There are 105 boys born for every 100 girls, so we're now seeing the affects of modern medicine leaving more men on planet earth until we collect our Darwin award trophies and start having health effects later in life than previously. What this means is that there are more and more men alive throughout the general ages in which peop…

For real. I just had a conversation with my roommate's boyfriend who is trans and his parents basically told him "fuck you" when he became of age to do HRT. He was entirely unaware of the concept of a credit card balance transfer and how it could save him money given he has some rough credit card debt right now. It seemed really obvious to me because I had education in that realm. To assume somebody doesn't know something due to incompetence is so narrow-minded and not productive.

I think you'll find the usual suggestions given out by people on here are activities almost exclusively dominated by men these days (I'd know, as I've tried many of the suggestions on Reddit for such activities) or the recommendation will be something along the lines of yoga or pilates where you're obviously going to be one of very few men there and appear creepy if you try to chat with any of the women there, even in a platonic manner. Neither of you has actually suggested anything, so feel fre…

This still isn't a suggestion for activities to meet women. I exclusively meet other men who only know other men through my hobbies of board gaming, cars, and tech. Most women at bars seem entirely too closed off to even bother looking their way at a bar, so that one hasn't been in the cards for awhile.

I've noticed this myself as well. There truly is nowhere that women find it acceptable to flirt with them except for maybe at a house party or the like. How often are a lot of single men being invited to those? Not very often. A lot of women who actually leave the house to go to places other than work seem to be taken 100% of the time. I truly don't know any single women in my circles who are even remotely dateable. All the other women go a month single, max, at any given point in time.

Unfortunately, it seems many women would rather share a guy they resent who's hot rather than date someone who won't give them the runaround, and this behavior is exacerbated on apps.

I do sometimes! Most of my friends these days are men, but it's good to hear other perspectives sometimes. I think the advice you're giving this person, however, will lead to them being quite chronically single. Women are much more monolithic in who they find attractive, and this is pretty demonstrable on dating apps where most of the male userbase has zero success on them, and a very small subset of the male populace has success, while most women can get off the apps within a week or two even i…

Most men will lower their standards for women if it's just for casual sex. OP is a living example of that. It's hard to get a guy to commit who's able to fool around with a myriad of women at the drop of a hat.

I have literally never dated multiple women at once. The type of men who can juggle multiple girls might just be the types you're drawn to because you're aiming too high. A lot of those men enjoy the attention and sex on demand and aren't willing to give that up to settle for one girl, so they'll string along a bunch of women who give them that sort of attention. Thankfully, I usually seem to attract a much more realistic type of woman who wouldn't bother with that. On the other hand, many, many…

If it's her whole personality and you're always on edge because she pounces on anything that could even vaguely resemble the reinforcing of the nonexistent patriarchy, then sure, that's a no. Generally, however, I would not want to date a pro-life woman, or a woman who holds ideals that I ultimately believe are antithetical to mine, which is to say that I would want someone who is progressive. A lot of those people might call themselves feminists if pressed, but understand that there's a negativ…

I've got roommates, so these do get split among the three of us in a single family home. I grew up doing all of those, however, and do them myself when needed, or if someone asks. Only one I don't do is the shower because the guy I share it with cleans that part of the bathroom while I clean the rest. I will say: most men I've met do have different standards for cleanliness. I like to do routine cleaning while a lot of men let it get apocalyptically bad before addressing it.

It's hard to exaggerate how prominent obesity is here. About half of most age demographics are obese, and some even greater than that.

You sound actually insane - nothing I said was political in any way. I've lived here my whole life. I know the upsides and downsides of the area, and am pretty well-traveled. Portland is very hard to beat. You might get some more eye candy in Seattle, better weather in LA, or a more worldly city in NYC, but this place is the shit. As someone who is gluten-interolant, there is literally no better city on planet earth to eat out at any restaurant.

Lived here my whole life and only the job market is making me consider leaving. This is the best city in the country for the price. The food, views, nature, air quality (when the Gorge isn't on fire), ability to get around without a car, etc, are all hard to beat here.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but you could have the most attractive septum-pierced woman in the world disrobed in front of me and I wouldn't be attracted whatsoever. I would actually split up with someone if they got a septum piercing while I was seeing them. It's just so heinously ugly to me.

I unironically struggle to date in Portland, OR here because I cannot stand septum piercings and they're on every other woman here, I swear. Total non-starter for me. Why are they so trendy?

Portland, OR. I think we have slightly more young men than women, but I don't believe it's as bad as the Bay Area or Denver.

Men cannot passively date as women can. This isn't something we can that easily turn off.

Just replying here to note that, when I went through the 73 people in my friends list on Snapchat (the people who I am closest to in friendship), 55 were men and 18 were women. 12 of the women were taken, while 21 of the men were taken. That actually neatly lines up with the results of the Pew study (33% of women being single and 62% of the men being single), which seems comical. The women I'm friends with are generally not the types to be dating dudes who are sleeping with 5 women at once, or w…

I'm not sure where you're hanging out these days, but I have really, really tried going out of my comfort zone these last 6 or so months since I graduated college and the number of women in public spaces is incredibly small, especially my age-ish (25). Even when I go to a fucking grocery store, unless I'm going to some stupendously expensive store like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, the majority of occupants are men. Travel isn't really a great way of meeting potential partners, either. I'm not go…

Have you been to a bar recently? I'm in one of the hippest, youngest cities, and most bars are largely occupied by men. Even the girliest bars are maybe 50/50, and they're all huddled in their friends groups in a way that makes them entirely unapproachable.

Using the term "beta" is pretty gross and reductive, as is the whole pseudoscience of "alpha" and "beta." A lot of these guys just are not in proximity to women their age as much as they would probably like to be, myself included. Many women also date older, or date other women. No clue if more men are in gay/bi relationships with other men versus women+women.

Perhaps there are a lot of women happy on their own, but most women are not single, so I'm inclined to believe this is less of a case than you personally might think. I'd be curious to see what percentage of single women are "looking," because, around me, it seems to be very, very few. The ones who are looking are in back-to-back relationships.

Every one of my female friends/coworkers/etc who have used dating apps have been surprised to find out that I will go weeks or months without a match. They'll often tell me it must be a personal problem, or that they have success, so that I must be doing apps wrong, or have insanely high standards. I really truly, hand-on-heart believe that women who use dating apps are entirely unaware of how hard it is to just get a single match as a man on the apps because the men they're dating from them do …

As much as I generally would find myself uncomfortable around most red-pillers in day-to-day life, there are a lot of massively underrepresented problems for dating in the modern world - especially for men - and they're just swept under the rug. It's amazing to me how many spaces are very gendered that shouldn't be, such as bars or public events. It's also very difficult to talk to strangers in some parts of the world. A lot of advice on how to meet women for men who are chronically single is ju…

That's insane! Watching that video now with the song having been released in 2006 is mind-boggling. You're right, in that those women are all of relatively slender build by modern definition.

I think you're exaggerating a lot, but I do think both men and women are held to different standards for attractiveness now than they used to be. Look no further than music videos from the MTV days, or even a bit later. I watched the music video for some 90s song recently.. I'm drawing a blank what it was, but it was crazy to me how much more "average" the builds were on male and female backup dancers at the time. The women might have had some belly fat. The men might have had more aggressively …

I did start to notice women giving me more time of day when I became more attractive and sociable, but I don't think I resent them for it. I just don't seem to draw that type of resent-able person to me. I'm a golden retriever white dude, so that might be why. Exercising regularly also really drops the blood pressure and keeps you more level-headed, and the being more attractive physically is just a nice added benefit. It's important to understand that, fundamentally, a lot of the time we're att…

I think it could be a lot worse. I have family in the bougie parts of Los Angeles and women don't even acknowledge me there. I hit things off with a girl who models at a work event last week. I'd be invisible to a girl like that in LA.

Most people don't want to partner up with someone who has no drive to be the best version of themselves. That's not to say that someone who isn't constantly striving to be a 6-figure earner isn't ambitious, but it means that they can have their life together and be working towards some sort of end goal, and are always seeking ways to better themselves.

Everyone at my grocery store is either 15 years younger than me or 10 years older than me. I'm in the suburbs, so that's probably why.

I work out every day and groom religiously. I'm a hypochondriac, so very I'm healthy and maintain good hygiene, etc. I dress much nicer than most people do in my area, and the bar is on the floor there (Portland, OR, where your nicest jeans and a flannel are "going out" material). My issue is a lack of places to meet them. This thread is kinda depressing 😂

I try to avoid the "pill" subreddits just because they become a cesspool of incel negativity, but as a single guy, I, too, have noticed that there are a near-satirical lack of women in public spaces that I find myself occupying, even when the space should be pretty gender-neutral since... well.. half of the population are women. I watched a local MLS game here in Portland and my entire row of 20-something people were literally all men. When I went to the bar a few blocks away after the game with…

Ask her if she has any idea when the current wave of feminism will end and what leads her to believe so? I'm currently trapped in the hyper-leftist nature of the feminists in my school in Portland and would very much like to know what would drive them to the point where they consider feminism's job "complete."
