Interesting how short women are shamed for liking tall men, but tall men aren't shamed for chasing after short women. As always, men's physical preferences are acceptable, women's are not. Since men will never stop talking about what they like, why should women stay quiet about we like? Every female body type is eviscerated, judged, and rated by men. Even if a woman has the ideal body, there will be at least several dudes out there who will find something to complain about. Men are all for havin…

Though I agree with you that men often go after specific women to gain approval from other men, it doesn't make much of a difference overall. Whether a guy likes a body type because he genuinely prefers it or because it's trendy, he should grow a spine and approach the women he wants to approach, not get into relationships with women he considers "second best." But I know this world is far from perfect and opportunistic men will always exist, which is why it's important for women to be careful.

You've got my support all the way! I feel you. I have no sympathy for men who waste women's time by playing the "I like you, but if only your face/body was like this instead of that" game. We're better off without them.

I have small boobs and a small butt and this is why I'll never be with a guy who makes it clear he prefers curvier women. Doesn't matter if I've known him for five minutes or five years, the moment he lets me know my body isn't enough for him, I'm out. If I have to choose between being with someone who makes me feel inadequate or dying alone, the latter is preferable. Women with big boobs and/or big butts aren't rare, they're everywhere. If a man prefers curvier women but goes after a woman with…

I agree with your comment. I don't know if this is controversial to say, but I believe some men are born evil ('evil' as in sadistic; taking pleasure in hurting people, especially those weaker than them). Pornography worsens the problem, but even if all modern pornography vanished tomorrow, sadistic males would continue to exist because it's a part of their nature. It's not due to porn or socialization alone. I always go back to the naturalistic fallacy: just because something is natural doesn't…

Now THIS is a true example of men being objectified. Men always bring up "but, but, what about big strong muscular men in movies and video games?" Ignoring the fact that having a big and strong body is a power fantasy for straight men. Sure, it's a bonus women are attracted to it too, but it's not the overall point of a man being muscular and strong; the point is to signify masculine power, which men highly revere and wish to emulate. But these role reversal advertisements? They show what object…

I get what she's saying and I agree with her, but at the same time, I'm tired of being told men and boys need to be "taught" about consent. Men, and even boys, know what consent is. Rapists don't rape out of ignorance; they rape because they want to and because they enjoy violating a victim. There's no need to "teach" them because they already know and they don't care. I hope I'm not coming across like I'm being critical of this woman in particular because that's not my intention. It's just... I…

I agree with you about Dani. Midsommar's ending was meant to be simultaneously cathartic and disturbing. The director, Ari Aster, described the film as a 'dark fairy tale' and a 'breakup film.' It's horrible what happened to Christian, but it's also understandable why many women empathize with Dani. The visceral, escapist quality of the film is purposeful; Dani purges herself of the past and embraces a new period in her life. Since it's a horror movie, it happens in a twisted, dark way, but Chri…

Speaking as someone who tends to prefer morally gray or villainous characters: yes! Male characters across the moral spectrum get to be fun or complex, while female characters have to be pristine role models for all womankind. It's stifling. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have more heroines and inspirational strong female characters too, 100% for it. But I can't deny, I wish it was acceptable for female characters to be just as unlikable and fucked up as male characters are. Men get to have W…

This isn't entirely the point of this post, I know, but I have to be honest: I don't find funny men attractive. Maybe it's because most "funny" men aren't all that funny. Or maybe it's because they often use their sense of humor as a way to excuse their terrible behavior ("it's just a joke"). Regardless of the reason, the moment a guy tries too hard to be a comedian, I can't wait to get away from him. I like funny women. I love laughing and joking around with women. I find being around charismat…

Another big difference between pornography and romantic comedies is people are allowed to openly criticize the latter, but not the former. Romance as a genre is constantly critiqued and picked apart by men and women alike. If you say you don't like romance movies or books, no one looks at you like you've committed a social flaw. On the other hand, try criticizing pornography—or simply saying you don't like it or don't watch it—and nearly everyone looks at you like you're abnormal. I enjoy romant…

I don't know why, but "DJ B was never heard from again" made me laugh, like he was assassinated afterwards for not engaging in locker room talk lol. In all seriousness, I understand how you feel. Whenever I see or hear a man refusing to talk about women's bodies in an inappropriate manner, I'm shocked too. I shouldn't feel that way, but it's rare for a man to have the guts to stand up to other men. Objectifying women is a popular form of male bonding; men do it not only to put women in their pla…

I'm with you all the way! I can understand where the caution comes from because yes, there are creepy men who prey upon smaller women. But... women of all body types can have men creeping on them. It's not exclusive to women with smaller features. Tall, short, big, small, curvy, skinny, women of color, white women, etc, we all will have to potentially deal with creeps because male predators and men with fetishes unfortunately exist. However, a man finding a smaller woman attractive is not an imm…

Thanks! I get worried sometimes about being incoherent while lost in my rants, but I'm glad I got the point across. This is something I feel strongly about because the bodyshaming directed towards non-curvy women isn't taken seriously. I don't pretend it's as bad as the bodyshaming overweight women experience, but being thin doesn't exempt women from having our bodies deemed "unacceptable" or not "womanly" enough.

And it bothers me that people are accused of being pedos for liking women with a petite figure. Like now what? I'm skinny with small tits, am I just creep bait lmao Thank you for calling this out. I've seen a few comments on FDS (and elsewhere) warning women to not get involved with men who like petite and thin women with small breasts because they might be pedophiles and... that's literally my body type. One of my favorite movies is Magnolia, an epic drama set in Los Angeles. The film follows many characters, one of which is a pickup artist named Frank, played by Tom Cruise. The speeches Frank gives to men sounds ridiculous but quite similar to what present-day redpillers and PUA teach men online. This is from a film that came out in 1999. Magnolia depicts Frank's character in a pitiful light, as a liar and a man with psychological issues, not someone men are meant to emulate or admire. PUA in r…

It saddens me too, but I think it's worthwhile to reach out to other women. The more women encourage one another to criticize pornography, instill self-confidence in our boundaries, and reject men's fetishes and kinks, the more we can keep ourselves safe and healthy. If men are going to stop watching pornography, it's probably going to happen after ruthless shaming from other men they respect, or after porn-use begins to severely disrupt their lives. Despite how bleak nature is, I believe humans…

I agree with you. Women insist everything about men's behavior is based on socialization alone, but I don't buy it. Men have beaten, tortured, raped, degraded, and hated women long before modern pornography existed. Men created porn out of their desire to subjugate women, and porn is a reflection of that desire. Porn exacerbates misogyny, but even if all porn were wiped out tomorrow, misogyny would continue to exist. Men would find other ways to satiate their desire to harm women. I believe many…

This man loves cars, sex, and male approval more than his wife. "The feeling you get when you have something that others want, is very satisfying." But, but, I was told by rational, noble men that men love women unconditionally while women are selfish, superficial gold diggers!!! You mean to tell me men care about physical appearance, sex appeal, social status, and the ego-boosting validation of their best bros??? How unconditional!!! /s

I have such mixed feelings about WAP. On one hand, it's a catchy song and the raunchiness isn't anything new. I listened to Lil' Kim's "How Many Licks" when I was a preteen (and I really shouldn't have but oh well). It's not a feminist anthem, but there is something to be said about how women are singing about cunnilingus and enjoying sex. Plenty of male singers and rappers talk about sex, blow jobs, their dicks, and everything nasty you can think of. The expectation for women to be good role mo…

I was glad to see many women (and even a few men) call her out in the responses and quotes. It's infuriating, however, knowing that there will always be a swath of pickmes defending men, even when faced with the reality that men commit the statistical majority of rapes and murders. Male violence is such a touchy topic. Whenever it's brought up, it riles men and pickmes up. Look how Davina tries to deflect by bringing up men's mental health. I swear, every time a man commits a crime, there's some…

While I agree with the article, I’m such a pessimist I can’t imagine men taking tangible steps to help women be safer. Whether men are more influenced by biology or socialization (I lean more towards biology, but I acknowledge society plays a role too), at the end of the day, men don't care. Even if they can change, they don't want to. Many men enjoy hurting women, while other men don't care until their "property" (daughter/wife/girlfriend/etc.) is targeted. Instead of asking, telling, or demand…

Forget communicating, she needs to pull an Amy Dunne from Gone Girl instead. /s And to add a disclaimer just in case: yes, I know Amy is a psychopathic villain you're not meant to emulate. I know. But there's a reason her character is enjoyed mainly by women. She's the dramatic and cathartic embodiment of female rage, frustration, and a desire to retaliate instead of repressing your anger and forcing yourself to be a good little wife. Women need to stop communicating and start embracing their co…

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this as well. I think some women fear being vulnerable and acknowledging the desire for love and companionship, but we're only human. Of course, it's wrong when men and the patriarchy exploit that fear, shaming women when they're single or pressuring women into relationships with terrible or mediocre men, but it doesn't mean it's wrong for women to want a romantic connection or a family in the first place.

A lot of women who romanticize “happily ever after” come from abuse and dysfunction, and finding a partner is less about patriarchal pressure and more about,”Will somebody ever love me?” or “Can I create the family I never got to have?” I recognize this in a lot of relationships I see. You're right. I grew up in a lonely, broken home, and when I'm in a severe depressive episode, I escape into my fantasies where I have a family and a romantic partner who loves me. Sometimes I don't know if I genu…

Perfectly said. I mentioned this in a recent comment, how I'm skeptical of recommending therapy to certain men because they'll weaponize what they learned in therapy to their advantage. This may be controversial to say, but I believe some men can't be helped. Not with therapy, not with introspection. Some men are so far gone in their selfishness, cruelty and misogyny, there's nothing that can set them on the right path. I usually enjoy redemption stories for villains or antiheroes in fiction, bu…

How do some women find dirty, smelly, and crummy men attractive? How?? How??? I will never understand—and I don't want to understand. It's one thing when a well-built guy is disheveled from working outside or playing sports, that can be hot; or the rare, grunge Kurt Cobain type can be cute too, but those are different scenarios from not washing one's ass. Ugh. I agree with the other comments here, he ruined the sweet moment on purpose. A part of me hopes they were acting, but it's embarrassing e…

Agreed. Small physical traits, including small lips, are normal, and a woman can be curvy at any size. A defined waist and wide hips create curves too, and thin women can have those features. Someone like Candice Swanepoel isn't what people would consider to be thick, but she has subtle yet noticeable curves with her waist/hips. Truth be told, sometimes I get tired hearing about curves because it comes across as curvy women wanting revenge for all the years where willowy figures were fashionable…

Thank you. Small isn't nothing. It may not be someone's preference and that's okay, but 'small' and 'nonexistent' are two different things. And as other commenters pointed out, having a big ass doesn't guarantee a man's devotion. Women of all body types get cheated on, abandoned, and mistreated. Having financial stability is far more useful and promising for a woman's future.

“I’d have it surgically removed if I could” He's lying. Men are not dumb or helpless, they know they can work on themselves and be better, but they don't want to. Men like being selfish, superficial, and misogynistic because it makes them feel powerful. They don't want to change, they like themselves as they are. They throw fake pity-parties to get sympathy, masking their lack of morals behind a veneer of "guilt". No disrespect to your comment, I know where you're coming from and agree with you …

Everybody has an ass. I dislike how 'small' equates to 'nonexistent'—but only when it applies to ass and tits. If someone has small hands, we don't tell them they have no hands. If someone drives a small car, we don't tell them they have no car. If someone lives in a small house, we don't tell them they're homeless. But if a woman has a small butt or small breasts, then she has "no ass" or "no tits" because men are obsessed with big asses + boobs. (Imagine if we told men they have no dick or no …

Yes, thank you for pointing this out. Whenever most men give dating "advice" to women, it's not for the purpose of helping women, but to help other men. Men look out for each other, and cutting down women's self esteem is a sure-fire way of making it easy for their bros to take advantage of women. Notice how one guy tells women to date below their attractiveness level? Having women lower their standards helps out other men. And yes, men love having opportunities to insult women, especially if th…

Hey, sorry for the late comment, but I'm currently doing a replay of TLOU2 and if you're struggling with the stealth, I recommend adjusting the accessibility options to make it easier. Go to options, accessibility, HUD, and set the 'Awareness Indicators' to 'on'. It'll show you a warning when you're in the enemies' line of sight. You can also enable combat accessibility and adjust enemy perception, going invisible while prone, etc. Don't forget you can adjust the difficulty levels as well. Here …

More like: every [opposite-sex] couple in the gaming world. I am half-joking. There are many equally attractive man/woman couples out there, but it's true, the average guy gamer and woman gamer might as well be from different universes (with women gamers existing in a universe where hygiene and presentable clothes are the norm).

Men say women are too shallow, but women aren't shallow enough! Men need to be shamed more on their lack of fashion, fitness, and hygiene instead of being told they can make up for it with personality, money, or audacity. If I'm not physically attracted to a guy, I'm not going out with him, and that's how it should be.

Yes, dating and sex have always been and always will be exclusionary. The vast majority of people are not asexual, and physical attraction is a normal requirement in most romantic relationships. Physical attraction is important for women. Women are not passive objects of men's desires, we are active subjects who desire too. When it comes to objectification, it seems like men can dish it but can't take it. Women are supposed to tolerate men's constant scrutiny of our bodies, but the moment women …

Glad to have more women on that hill! I think the tide is changing and women are embracing their physical preferences without apology. This is why men are jumping on the 'no bodyshaming' bandwagon; not because they sincerely care about bodyshaming, but because they know women are starting to openly express our likes and dislikes when it comes to men's physical appearance.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/02/21 06:16 AM

Agreed. Men are allowed to prioritize physical attraction, while women are shamed for doing the same. This is a hill I will die on: women have every right to be ruthless when it comes to physical attraction. Men show no sympathy for women they find unattractive, so why should women do the same for men? Dating is inherently exclusionary. Having physical preferences is not the same as demanding everyone caters to your personal tastes and mocking them when they don't, which is something men also do…

Whenever I'm feeling lonely, I remind myself that I like the idea of romance, not the reality of it. This is the reality. This is what many women in heterosexual relationships are dealing with. Nothing romantic about it. I don't want to sound cruel because I do feel for these women. I remember reading a post somewhere (I think it was Twitter) saying how women should learn to be ice queens. Back then, I didn't like the sound of it, but now, I agree. Men don't respect women, they don't respect our…

Men really are the biggest simps for other men. They whine and complain when a man dares to respect women, but are fine with sucking up to their male idols all day long. Notice how he speaks of Russell Wilson: "I doubt she's gonna be able to get anyone else of your caliber". Interesting how some straight men truly believe the only people deserving of love, attention, adoration, admiration, and praise are... other men. Not wives, girlfriends, or women in general. Just men.

It's possible he was lying. It's also possible he's procrastinating or not in the mood for gaming. I go through periods where I'll play nearly every single day, and then there will be times where I go without gaming for weeks. Fully agree with your comment. It's all about balance and stability. Someone can be into gaming while still making time for their partner and daily life responsibilities. Even so, I understand why many women can't trust male gamers since most of them have trouble with balancing their passion for gaming with other things in life (finances, parenting, chores, etc.) That being sad, the community, the “average” gamer, the one who takes it too seriously. If gaming is a big part of his life rather than one of out many hobbies or interests, then it's probably best to stay away. I mean it’s normal to be attracted to other people, but then finding videos and photos of them to jerk off to is a choice. This is how I feel as well. It's one thing to go about your day, notice someone attractive and check them out for a second or two, and then move on with your life. It's a whole other thing when you deliberately seek out (and pay for) sexualized images and videos of other people. The former scenario is brief, the latter takes extra effort and motivation.
