Do you have a source for this please? I think it’s wrong but would really like to know if it is.

Everything on that spectrum is wrong in some way or to some degree, and some very serious stuff has a very low number on it.

I get what you mean, but I think your post is going past the limits of an analogy. A relationship is a mutually agreed situation. If either party does not consent, it’s not a relationship. The women’s issues you talk about are moral problems mostly because only one party agrees but they happen nonetheless, e.g battered women don’t want to be battered but don’t get to choose.

You are definitely right. There is a LOT of negativity, generalising, misogyny and misandry, point-scoring, blame-shifting etc etc.

This sounds more like a big sister being bossy, but mostly harmlessly. It’s probably a habit that developed when you were children that stayed. Doesn’t sound like a major issue, and it’s not obviously about feminism.

Often it is a bullying tactic to control and/or change them. It means the man won’t do what they want or be how they want, so they try and shame them into it.

It is a false equivalence as you say, but in another way it is worse for women than it would be for a man - they feel scared. Men normally don’t feel that.

A combination of: 1) They are sufficiently gas-lighted and with sufficiently low self-esteem to believe it. They might be in an abusive relationship while defending it! Sounds wild, but I was. 2) They are angry with their fathers but less so their mothers. This could be well justified or not, both are common enough. 3) They are hyper-conscious of their physical capacity to hurt women, and over-compensate to guard against it. This is actually a good trait as long as it’s not over-active. 4) They …

I think this could actually be a good thing, the problem is that it is only aimed at boys. In my experience some women feel entitled to abuse men and expect no consequences. A lot of men seem brainwashed or disillusioned to the point of accepting it, or even defending it. The code we all learned that we should always protect and never harm women came back to bite us, when we didn’t know what we were allowed to feel about women abusing us. Now, we know what we feel but aren’t allowed to say it! B…

My young son starts on me quite often. I don’t hit him for the same reason. Should I have the right to? I say no, because of the increased risk of injury. Power differential does matter morally, and in practice the law follows this. I understand what it is like to have a woman hit me, and just boil internally instead of reacting. If you genuinely are in danger, you do have the right to defend yourself. In my case I wasn’t in sufficient danger to warrant it, and frankly I didn’t want to at the ti…

Yeah we have to be honest about this if we hope to affect public opinion. There are some men who are rapist scum, and they must be dealt with harshly.

They aren’t. If it happens to you collect evidence discretely, then bring it to the police. She will likely make up lies about you at that point, which is really why you need the evidence.

Interesting. I don’t know much about how AI algorithms adapt to the user. What would it say if a feminist activist typed in the exact same question?

This might be true from our point of view, but is the best solution really to try and bring that woman down to where we think she fits? (not saying that is your approach, just that it seems to be the approach of some men). Surely the better approach is to elevate ourselves, starting with that sense of self-worth, with our own internal monologues and the expectations we place on behaviour in a relationship. IE if she only wants you for what she can get out of you, dump her. No scrubs, you are sim…

No. Men hit approximately twice as hard. That’s why ~40% of DV victims are men but ~97% of DV deaths are women. Being a man should come with pride and self-belief in our capability. One of those capabilities is violence, so we should moderate ourselves. If you are in a DV situation, start a recording unknown to her and get out. Then file a police report with evidence.

At the risk of starting an argument, some women are like that and some aren’t. I say this because we want as many women to acknowledge our issues as possible, and one way to help with that is to use the nuance/caveats that we often accuse them of lacking. Yes, that nuance is often lacking from their side. Yes, many of us have personal experience that verifies your basic point. But just as our side wants to shout that there are two sides to it, so does their side! So we end up on opposite sides, …

This might be one of those things where men and women are different on average, but there is enough cross-over for denial either way. IE it is rational to say they aren’t that different and it is also rational to say they are, and personal experiences will lead individuals to either camp.

I think the overall message aligns with two things I agree with: 1 either way is acceptable. 2 there are downsides to men expressing fear/sadness/anger. I think the post deals with this dichotomy adequately.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
