This is definitely me right now. I spent last year exploring OLD and it didn't get me anywhere. It's left me burnt out and jaded about dating. I'm taking a break from it right now. It's been a month and honestly, I won't lie, sometimes I miss the quick validation/entertainment you can find on OLD apps, but really I've been stress and headache free, which I'm enjoying more. The unfortunate part is that I know I have a nurturing personality and love to give, but I've yet to meet a partner that has…

Pay, leave, block and delete. Personally I would not offer to pay 50/50, but if a man really had the audacity to ask me to split, I'd pay my share and block and delete. I have my own money, so I'm not necessarily impressed by the value spent on me (because I could treat myself to that nice meal too), it's more about the principle and trying to pursue me and valuing my time by paying for the meal. If I wanted to pay, I'd go with a friend, who I know I like already.

I think this is also just general life advice. Life happens and you shouldn't put down a non-refundable deposit that you're not comfortable with losing. Also planning in the event that someone does back out. If I was this girl, I would have still just gone by myself. Wonder if she went half and the full cost wasn't in the budget.

And the changing music excuse? That's what you make a playlist for.

Men being grossed out about periods is immaturity at its finest. Like damn, I hate them too, but if someone is going to make me feel bad about something I have little control over, then there's the door. Sorry I'm uncomfortable a few days out of the months, but boohoo you can't get your dick wet. Pathetic. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I swear SO many men on OLD say they're >6'. I'm just like... Y'all I've been outside... There's not this many tall men out there. Had a guy who's profile said he was 5'10", met him and he couldn't have been more than 5'8", but then he also sorta made a joke about being short? So why did he lie on his profile, because otherwise I could have just saved my time honestly.

I'm definitely really going through it right now. I've noticed these signs of depression recently and I've basically attributed it to the change of season and my work life. I definitely just feel more withdrawn lately. I've noticed this especially with my dating life. I feel like I just don't have it in me to try and form new connections right now. Nor do I have the energy or motivation to really continue conversations.

It almost seemed along the lines of I want to spend time with you, but let's do this activity that I enjoy because it's easy and you're 'cool' right? Laundromat would be better, at least it proves he can do something domestic.

I've had three men suggest I play basketball with them as a first get together. I wish I was joking. These were all men I met at the gym, but I have no idea what would lead them to think I would have any interest in playing basketball with them.

I had a LVM cold approach me in a parking lot, who tried to get me to go to a lake with him to have a drink with him... That same night. Like sir... It's 10pm and I don't know you.

Yup! There really was no consequence for their lack of help. It's unfortunate how much expected of women and so little of the burden is placed on men. While at the same time, men get praised for doing the absolute bare minimum.

I'd say it's definitely more than what they see and also a lot with what boys are taught. As well as just outside cultural influence and what's become unfortunately normalized. I'd say in my household, my dad took a very active role in parenting, housework, etc. More so than my mother who was definitely more of a workaholic. I definitely had a more stay at home dad and he was good in that role too. Granted my parents really spoiled us and took care of all the household chores, so my siblings and…

Ugh yes. Women should be prioritizing the relationship and love they show to themselves before any relationship with a man. We gotta make sure we have our own lives and hobbies and goals and dreams. How can you share your life with someone when you don't have anything to share to begin with.

Agree with a lot of this. I think once we become more mature self sufficient adults with a lot of our shit together, we're a lot less tolerant of LVM and people who will waste our time.

I like the point about going to places you're familiar with and know you like. Sometimes I don't want to eat a whole meal out anyway or eat somewhere I know I don't care for. Agreed. A real date seems like a lil too much for a first meet, so coffee is a nice icebreaker. Unfortunately I end up driving everywhere cause I don't live within walking distance of most things, but I've definitely learned my lesson and make sure I always bring my own car. Nothing worse than wanting to escape but not bein…

3 🙄🙄 like how is someone going to be so disrespectful of my time! Like things happen, if you can't make it, I get it. But at least don't leave me hanging and let me know. Regardless if you were busy with work... You have two minutes to send a text. 4!! I work out of town so sometimes have to schedule in advance too. Like sorry I'm busy? This is where I'm free, take it or leave it. Idc. Then they want to say I'm busy with 'all your other dates'... Okay and even I if was, so what?

Thanks for mentioning this! I know coffee dates are low effort, but I like them for that reason. I also enjoy the actual in person face to face meeting. It's just different and I think you can guage chemistry much differently in person vs remote communication. Plus coffee dates are short and sweet and you can literally leave whenever you want. And they usually happen in the day time so less chance of somebody trying to lure you back to their place. There's a lot of cute coffee shops out there th…

This is such a silly argument. What do you mean, who's going to do inevitable life tasks? I will? A functioning independent adult who's capable of learning how to do many things? And literally any task I can't or don't want to do, I can pay someone.

LVM tried to argue with me saying putting a frozen lasagna in the oven was making/cooking lasagna.
