Well Andy was married, but his wife died. Which was a real bummer. The core of the show was this small town sheriff and the community around him. That and his relationships with the people in the town. Especially his son who he raised as a single father with help from Aunt Bea. Sadly you don't get these types of father and son solid relationships on TV anymore. Usually it's a sitcom joke of a dumb fat father and a nerdy son and those two just can't understand each other...

Well if they are mentally ill, then it isn't an excuse; it's a reason for one's unacceptable behavior. To which, hopefully they get the treatment to help them. One of my favorite comics I ever saw was where a typical "nice guy" meets a typical "nice girl" after both, separately complained about not being able to find a partner who cares about them as a person and not looks. What's really messed up is that this screws over women too. They don't put anything into the relationship. It's gone from women asking themselves how they can be a good partner to thinking, "welp I have this thing between my legs, that takes care of everything he wants in a relationship." I just saw a post in which someone called for help to a suicide hotline just to talk and ended up being manipulated, lied to, spending 96 hours locked in a facility, and something like 6 grand in debt. My own experience with getting help in my time of need was pretty bad itself. You know how cities are supposed to help the homeless during the winter so no one freezes to death?
