In Budapest you have to watch out for girls that will randomly approach you on the streets at night. They'll take you to some bar where they'll drink on your costs. Even if it doesn't seem like you have drank much, you'll be presented a bill of over 500 euros. It's a very common scam in Budapest. The best way to avoid it is to make sure YOU choose which bar to go to.

I think the best advice you can give him is not pick-up advice, but advice on grooming, fashion, fitness and posture. These things will not only improve his appearance, but also his confidence. Once he's got that all done, he'll already have a slight edge over the other guys his age. As you already said, I wouldn't immediately teach him pick-up because without confidence he will most likely make a fool of himself or turn into a jerk.
