Are you suggesting that rapists are like substance abusers? Rape is not an addiction. It's not a victimless crime. Drug abusers belong in rehab. Rapists belong behind bars, at least for some amount of time. Also how many rape accusations that are taken seriously do you believe are fraudulent? Like what percentage? Do you have any numbers?

Genuine question, OP. I was looking through your other posts. What exactly do you mean by the phrase "rape hysteria culture?" Because that sounds immediately dismissive of the epidemic of sexual violence that women overwhelming are subjected to.

Wouldn't equality be a slap for a slap?

That's because you understand that you shouldn't respond with maximum aggression unless it's absolutely necessary. Someone wronging you isn't some magical free pass to hurt them as much as you want (and it shouldn't be). Use only what is necessary to keep yourself safe and that's enough.

What rights do women have that men do not?

"Merely" as in they didn't have a choice. Society forbade them from being able to provide for themselves.

Obviously there are anti-abortion women. But they are definitely the minority. If the decision was up to women alone, those laws would not be passed.
/r/AntiFeminists20/08/22 05:56 PM

So if men could get pregnant, do you think it would be illegal for them to get abortions? Because honestly I don't think men would put up with that kind of invasion on their freedom. I know I wouldn't.

How do men have zero reproductive rights? I control my body. I can get surgeries on my reproductive organs if I want to.

It should be optional. Women who want to do dangerous, dirty, health affecting, life threatening work should have that option without being discriminated against. Also, anyone should be able to have a career and build a life without having to be married or be tied to someone else.

If women aren't the majority in power making the decisions for society, then society cannot be a matriarchy. Men still vastly outnumber women in that metric. It's a statistical fact.

Women who make more money have to pay child support to their ex-husbands. Literally the situation of someone I know. I'm no fan of marriage and don't think the state has any business in it, but no one should be forced to stay married who doesn't want to be.

Patriarchy is very real rule in social groups that adhere to it (like fundamentalist Christians). It's a tool that maintains the power structure. Like I said it's a big factor even if it's not the whole equation.
/r/AntiFeminists19/08/22 11:33 PM

If you can't have your own bank account because you're a woman, that is oppression. It wasn't even that long ago. My aunt had to live under that. That's certainly not "protected." Also, what traditionally feminine jobs do men not have access to? Men and women often prefer different kinds of jobs, but there are always exceptions. If we have a shortage of people wanting to do hard stuff that needs to be done, we have positive ways to incentivize people.

Uh that might be true in North Korea, but the most powerful people in the world get criticized all the time. It doesn't diminish their power one bit. Also we criticize men and women all the time. Trump is a cunt. So is Lauren Boebert. Where are my handcuffs?

Totally agree about wealth being the real ruler of society. But that doesn't totally rule patriarchy out, because we still have a lot of elements of it. I think it's most evident in Christian fundamentalists who are very patriarchal and also the bedrock for neo-feudal and neo-liberal politicians. Big money is using the deeply rooted patriarchy in a lot of Christian culture to get/retain power.
/r/AntiFeminists19/08/22 09:04 PM

That's not what defines matriarchy/patriarchy...
/r/AntiFeminists19/08/22 09:00 PM
-4

So there are more women in positions of power? Since when?
/r/AntiFeminists19/08/22 08:59 PM
-11

I mean you made a pretty good explanation of patriarchy for women. "Women's rights would be set around women's contribution to society." For a long time women were considered merely mothers and homemakers and that's where their rights were limited to.
/r/AntiFeminists19/08/22 08:58 PM

There are some matriarchal societies that have existed and even some subsets of society). If anything, it would probably just be women banding together more to raise children collectively while men leave to do work or just do their own thing. Men wouldn't hold so many positions of power, but they wouldn't be subjugated either.

Nofap is not based on any medical science. It's true that there are people who struggle with masturbation addiction, but there is no physiological benefit from complete abstinence. It's pseudoscience.
/r/AntiFeminists31/07/22 06:03 PM
1

It is a simple fact that far right groups like to ban their men from masturbating. You don't have to like the daily show but you can find that common factor in extremist groups because it makes members malleable and angry.
/r/AntiFeminists31/07/22 05:51 PM
1

They aren't required to abstain from sex, just masturbation. Because they think it will help them get the sex they're struggling to find. Also what is true? Masturbation actually creates testosterone, releases endorphins, and relaxes those frustrations which makes men less irritable and more appealing. So they have it backwards.
/r/AntiFeminists31/07/22 05:46 PM
1

Yeah because normal young men travel en masse by U-Haul truck to incite riots at Pride events /s The Proud Boys are anti-masturbation and the members are "banned" from doing it. They also believe abstaining makes them "more masculine" and more "appealing" to women.
/r/AntiFeminists30/07/22 10:50 PM
1

I mean the Proud Boys advocate against masturbation and members are "banned" from doing it (I put it in quotes because I don't know how that's enforced). But they aren't the only far right group that dabbles in the 'sexually frustrated make.' https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-news/daily-show-proud-boys-alt-right-masturbation-909193/

/r/AntiFeminists27/07/22 03:17 AM

That meme is certainly misogynistic so it definitely doesn't need defending. Also anyone who actually watched the show knows that they're both toxic dumpster fires of human beings. But it's a TV show so there has to be drama. Edit: just to be clear what makes it actually misogynistic is it says "spent her teens and youth partying and crossing her fingers to avoid pregnancy." That is clear misogyny.

I mean she's definitely trying to maintain the image that she's a feminist but I haven't seen anything since the trial about her officially representing any proper feminist organizations. There's some splintering though among feminism (like TERFs) but that's not mainstream. Even the ACLU isn't technically a feminist org but more so aligns with it. Feminist Theory is absolutely legit. That's the academic understanding of feminism though, and Amber Heard clearly does not align with that.

Two fronts: zeal and power Zeal is really straightforward. There are few issues that can be so passionate to so many people as saving babies from abortion. Even people who think it should be legal don't like abortion, so it's easy to understand why many people would hate it. Then if you convince enough people to make that their single issue, they'll vote for you even if you slowly take away their healthcare, jobs, housing, education, civil rights, etc. Because, after all, you're Pro-Life™️ and t…

These same people have been fighting for comprehensive and universal access to healthcare for years, which would totally cover most of those things. But the same people banning abortions are the ones stopping women (and men) from getting that kind of access. Some states have expanded healthcare and it does reduce demand for abortions. But those states are not the red states currently banning abortion. In short: people who are poor and lack access to healthcare leads to increased unwanted pregnan…

I didn't say forcing to have sex. I said forcing to give birth. If we know that making it easier to prevent pregnancies will prevent abortions in the first place, why don't anti-abortion champion those proven measures at all? Because that's not the true goal. Otherwise they would be pushing for comprehensive sex ed that teaches safe sex and provides access to contraception. They would fight to make birth control over-the-counter and make PlanB dirt cheap. They would make sure sexual health check…

If preventing unwanted pregnancies is sure to prevent abortions, why don't the people banning abortions support expanding proven measures to prevent unwanted pregnancy? At all? Why don't any of these laws include provisions to help people prevent pregnancies? Because it's not about preventing abortions. It's about forcing women who have sex and get pregnant to give birth.

Basic hygiene is a societal concern, and societal concerns are shared problems for men and women. Stop trying to make Men's Rights just anti-feminism. That's not what it is. It's pro-issues, not anti-women's issues or anti-societal issues. We're trying to improve life for all men, and sometimes meeting the needs of women and children actually improves life for men.

I thought the point of this sub was to advocate making life better for men. The thing OP is complaining about would be good for everyone, including men, even if it is indirect rather than direct. MGTOW philosophy doesn't work because it's toxic. Okay, men are valued for being kind, sympathetic, ambitious, gentle, trustworthy, hardworking, funny, creative, generous, loyal, clever... I can go on. Unfortunately in our current socio-economic system shrewdness and sociopathy are often rewarded for being "business-savvy," but that doesn't diminish the fact that those other traits are highly valued.

Well what exactly was your assessment? That domestic violence against men is a problem? Or that's it's somehow a bigger problem than domestic violence against women? Because while all DV is bad and that includes violence against men, it really is not comparable to the severity of the issue of DV against women and trying to compare it makes it look like you think it's as bad or worse, which it is not. I mean I didn't say it was efficient (although slavery is insanely efficient in some respects). But what is undeniable is that slaves literally built the cities and way of life, and yet the predominant role they played was not recognized for obvious reasons.
/r/MensRights08/03/22 03:09 PM

It's enough that their child can do any extracurricular, or hire a tutor, or graduate from college debt-free. Also there is no such thing as a "self-made billionaire." Women have historically been the primary victims of sexism, at least in the modern western world. That's not outrageous. And most misogynists do seem to prefer women to remain in separate, lower-power positions. And there are plenty of men's rights groups that seem to only exist to cry "feminism bad" (I see it here ALL THE TIME) rather than outlining legitimate, realistic policy changes that really reinforce equal opportunities. Honestly this isn't a men's rights issue. If you want wikipedia or …

Is it ostracism for a preference or ostracism for weird explanations like this post that get thrown around? Because there's a mountain of difference between saying it makes you feel uncomfortable to be with someone who's much more sexually experienced than you are versus proclaiming that women having many sexual partners makes them likely to cheat.

I don't think abortion or divorce are being suggested to be used for spite but rather to have complete separation from a bad partner. Definitely the nuclear option but that's reddit comments for you.

We need to absolutely talk about how working men are losing more and more money but we need to be honest who the main culprit is: billionaires. Corporations. Banks. This is who got trillions of dollars richer while millions of working men got poorer over the last 50 years and especially the last two years. Getting rid of that trickle-down bullshit is 100% a men's rights issue.

Toxic masculinity is not and has never been a slur, and claiming to be offended by something does not make it hate speech. It is an academic term. It is no more "hate speech" than saying "obesity." There is no lack of empathy nor trolling. You're misrepresenting something legitimate to play victim.
/r/MensRights04/02/22 10:18 PM

To piggyback off this a little bit, "whataboutism" is not an argument. Saying that men should get a pass on being shitty because of what you perceive as women getting a pass on being shitty is not good for men's rights. There seems to be a lot of animosity toward basic accountability that gets defended with finger pointing.

Especially especially do not date or have intimate relations with your subordinates. A relationship with someone on the same power level may be inappropriate, but a relationship with someone who works below you is unethical.

As a pretty typical masculine man I have dealt with toxic masculinity and call it out where I see it. It's not hate speech lol. It's a group of crappy ideas that encourage crappy behavior. In this case men tearing down other men. Conscription is unethical for anyone by the way.

There are no good economic reasons to not raise a minimum wage that is below the poverty line. Raising the minimum wage raises wages across the board with maybe the exception of CEOs. That means hard working blue collar men would see much needed wage increases even if they're already making more than minimum wage. This is 100% a men's rights issue because low wages are killing men.
/r/MensRights03/02/22 01:54 AM

Toxic masculinity refers to the repeated and shared ideas of what it means to be manly that are harmful to men and other people. Typically it manifests itself as callousmess and cruelty.

I'm not going to say every, but a lot of standards that cause trouble for men are deeply rooted in toxic masculinity. Glorifying power and vilifying weakness are traits that seem to be inherently common among men and lead to cruelty to each other and to selves. A really great example is men opposing social services and raising the minimum wage because they think that "weaker" people deserve to suffer, rather than the true masculine belief that true men help the most vulnerable among us.

When it comes to doing sexual things to minors (which includes catcalling/sexual harassment), ignorance isn't a valid defense. If you sexually harass someone who could be underage, you assume the risk and deserve the consequence. Protecting kids from predators should be enforced.

/r/MensRights31/01/22 04:32 PM

If someone is legitimately addicted to something it can be super easy to take advantage of them. That doesn't absolve them entirely of responsibility but you aren't innocent if you knowingly exploit someone's addiction.

I didn't say it should be a victim's responsibility. In fact I said you could argue it shouldn't be. But if you want an exception to be made to the law, you need to understand that legally child support is not a punishment in the first place. Instead focus on the fact that it is a necessary service that needs nuanced exceptions in rare, extreme circumstances where a victim is not actually responsible.
/r/MensRights24/01/22 05:43 PM
-1

You can call it a burden or unjust or undeserved all you want. That's fine. But child support is not a punishment. It's a responsibility. You can argue that certain people shouldn't bear the responsibility, but classifying child support as a punishment is dishonest because that's not what it is.
/r/MensRights24/01/22 05:13 PM
1

I'm not saying that it doesn't suck or that it's fair. I'm just saying that child support payments are not a punishment. They are not a fine. They serve a legitimate non-punitive purpose. If you want to make a case to replace them with more robust taxpayer-funded social welfare then have at it but otherwise my point still stands.

Notice how OP doesn't say there's piss and dirt everywhere. I have no doubt someone sanitizes it every day. But maybe if you worked in schools (like I do) you'd know that right now it is very common for things in school bathrooms to be busted or stolen because of that stupid tik tok trend, and schools don't have the budget to buy new stuff every week. Leave it to this sub to spin teen boys acting like hooligans as radical feminism. Y'all got some active imaginations.

It's easier to get accurate information. That is what I said. You don't need to know how many kids men are having if you know how many kids women are having. It's the same number. But women aren't going to give birth to kids they don't know about, whereas men have kids they don't know about. You're literally complaining that they didn't waste resources to survey a whole bunch of people for no reason. Surveying men would have offered no statistical significance whatsoever in this case. Use your l…

Women will start getting harassed at like 12 years old. Why do you find it hard to believe that so many would experience it at least once in their lives? Do you really have to see it to believe it? I've been sexually harassed and I'm a guy. Why should I not believe women?

Men's rights needs to support abortion rights. We all know that if men could get pregnant we would defend our right to abort 100% until our dying breath. We would never entertain being forced by anyone to give birth if we didn't want to. Let's not be hypocrites. Fighting for custody rights for children who are born is fine but I don't believe for one second that anyone here would be okay with a woman or the government forcing him to grow something inside him without his consent.

Yeah unfortunately it's just become a cultural norm here. Other places even think it's weird we say "uncircumcised" instead of "natural" like they do (other places that are arguably more feminist than the US). Luckily though the push to not circumcise is strong here right now so it's declining. And as far as women are concerned, from all of my experiences they don't care if a penis is natural or not as long as the guy keeps his equipment clean.

Circumcision should definitely not be happening to babies at all ever, but it has nothing to do with feminism. I don't know why so many people here are clinging so desperately to something so obviously ridiculous. They're acting like FDS. Anyway the link between circumcision and religion is pretty clear cut. It originated due to religion thousands of years ago and has been standard practice for some religions ever since. It was believed that it reduced sensitivity and made masturbation more diff…

Okay so if a guy helps create a child and doesn't want to be a father, then he should help pay for it unless it gets adopted. He can try to get custody if he doesn't want to pay but no parent should get to just completely abandon the child. This is why I say condoms are man's best friend—super easy to not get someone pregnant. If the father wants the child and the mother doesn't, then can go for custody if she wants to carry to term. If she doesn't want it then it should be fairly easy for him t…

Just focus on being a good person and developing healthy masculinity. Don't get bitter and disillusioned because that speaker didn't talk about empowering young men. Men are empowered. If you don't feel that then this is your cue now. You don't need to be afraid of marginalized groups trying to find a voice. They are your brothers and sisters. Take care of them. You are empowered. True masculinity is using your power to care for the people around you. All of them. Be kind. Be generous. Be gentle…

Well saying that 90% of women aren't as qualified as 90% of men also suggests the presence of privilege. So that leaves 90% of women not working hard enough being more probable than it actually being more difficult for women to get those positions? Come on. You don't have to admit that it's ALL due to privilege to just recognize that some exists.
/r/MensRights21/08/21 11:39 PM
-18

That's not what privilege means though. If that statistic is true, it's evidence that something is causing it to be more difficult for women to obtain positions of power. A disadvantage. The opposite of that is a privilege.
