Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceBut why are you making that point? Because it's literally the first step to longer sentences for everyone. I only don’t care about the consequences of long term sentences when it comes to pedophiles. They know touching kids is disgusting. They don’t get a second chance. Again, I'm not advocating for adult offenders or habitual pedophiles. The example I gave is of a teenager essentially mirroring the abusive behavior that they were exposed to. In that example I don't believe it is appropriate to … | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 07:22 PM
Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceThere's a difference between arguing for leniency and pointing out the futility and consequences of life-long prison sentences which is the major point I've been making from the beginning. For what it's worth, I'm against blanket statements in regards to pretty much anything simply because real life has too many exceptions to any rule. I understand why you would read it like that and like I've said multiple times I'm not advocating for leniency, I'm making the larger point about the dangers of e… | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 07:09 PM

Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceI like how you've crafted your comments to say something I never said. The whole point is against the overall idea of longer prison sentences, I'm definitely not arguing specifically for leniency for sexual abusers at all. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 05:12 PM
Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceThose are two separate ideas - I'm not saying molesting children is a lesser offense, I'm saying that long prison sentences have been applied for what people would typically consider lesser offenses. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 05:08 PM
Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceI think it's widely accepted that sexual abusers are typically victims of abuse themselves. As a hypothetical, how long should a teenage offender be punished assuming they were victims also? I understand your point and I'm not saying they don't deserve harsh punishment, I'm saying that we've seen the societal and financial effects of life-long prison sentences and longer sentences for lesser offenses and it just doesn't make sense. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 03:43 PM
Unfortunately only an 8 year sentenceNot sure where you're from but here in the US we've been on this trend of ever-increasing sentences over the last few decades and it really hasn't helped anything. 8 years is a significant sentence and with proper treatment this person (probably) could be rehabilitated. I'm not saying what she did wasn't horribly wrong but we just have overwhelming evidence that long prison sentences don't fix anything and in most cases makes things much worse. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 11/01/20 03:30 PM
