Had a manager at my first job ever (grocery store) tell me when I told him I wanted to move into the customer service desk that it was “women’s work” non jokingly and always noticed that women didn’t collect carts or work in the departments that required a lot of heavy lifting. The only time a woman would do it to my knowledge was this one girl who liked running around and helping out with carts or the dairy department because she hated standing around all day at a register.

My girlfriend has a 4 year old that loves going to parks and we both work from 7 am to 3:30, 5 days a week. We are both an hour commute so by 4:30 we pick her up and then have almost no time between household work and other stuff to go out to the closest park. If some group of parents asked us to leave because they like to have their gender specific playtime in a public park designated for everybody on our mutual day off, I will politely tell them to fuck off. No I work 40 hours on the dot and she is a dog groomer who makes tip and commission but we make it work. I don’t refuse to do overtime it’s just that my job doesn’t really like giving it out. It’s tough but if you keep your priorities In check then you can get by.

Some people really have no idea how tight money can be, I guess, if they think $25 an hour all expenses paid externally is hard. I make $13 an hour and I live on Long Island and if it wasn’t for the fact that my girlfriend also works full time I would still be living at my parent’s house! Granted, I’m not sure how bad the city really is rent-wise, but I clean out my bank account every month on bills and I wish I had whatever situation this girl is in!

What I do-and I’m not sure if it’s the exact proper way to do it- is if I’m pulled over I pull to the right as soon as it’s safe to, roll down the window, shut off the car and put my hands visible on the wheel until the officer asks me to give him my ID. I don’t get pulled over a lot but when I do I just keep in mind that he doesn’t know me and probably doesn’t want me making any sudden moves

I read the article and from what I could tell it seems she was trying to collect alimony from him but he proved they were never legally married, so he isn’t required by law to give her anything. Now, he had a baby with her so if he is going to do the right thing, he’s going to be there for the baby and make sure his child will never be without necessities, but he would be providing child support not alimony.

Exactly. I don't think it takes much common sense to deduce that it's easier to move a small car forward and out of the way then to attempt to back a big truck past other vehicles on a tight side road. I work at a dealership as of recently and had an experienced mechanic back a short bus into a car i was moving out of his way because it's hard to determine where your ass end is on something big like that.

My stance will always be the same in this situation: you want to get hired over others in these kinds of positions, then be better than all the others. If a company interviews 100 people for high level positions (50 men and 50 women) but can only hire 25 people, and the top 25 are all men, then why must they be forced to hire a certain quota of women if they aren't the best for the job? Oversimplified, I know, but I think it's a good way of looking at it. Most companies are looking to make money…

If women feel they aren't confident enough then that's their own personal hangup. Men aren't always confident about things they attempt either but you see fewer of them complaining when they don't get their way. If you constantly need reminding that you're good enough to do a job then you either really enjoy being challenged at what you do, or you seriously need to find another position.

My brother does this and it pisses me off so bad to the point I want to just beat the shot out of him but since I'm the eldest I'm supposed to just deal with it even though I try to talk to him. This made me mad on a personal level because I know just how hard it is to hold yourself back when someone is genuinely being a worthless little shit with nothing genuine to say in the face of being contradicted.

I got a speeding ticket for doing 80 in a 55 and say what you will about other people but I personally won't be speeding anymore. I got lucky that they dropped the charge to a lesser fine when I appeared for it at traffic court but I've learned my lesson. Then again I also wasn't a complete douchebag to the officer when he pulled me over.
