YOU ARE NOT ALONE in feeling this way (If it makes you feel any better, I would’ve dropped the shit and walked out of the store). Don’t beat yourself up, hopefully someday you (and I) can shake hands with the affair partner, but it’s totally OK if you’re not there yet. Preaching to the choir . . . Good luck amigo, stay strong

If possible, iron out the details with the ex prior to the mediator. When you get in front of mediator you just say this is what we’ve decided upon, how do we make it happen? Now of course this assumes you can reason with the ex, but just lay out the assets, and split it in half. The alimony and /or child support is a formula you can’t do anything about anyway.

F-that, she handed you papers, which inherently means you are entitled to what is legally yours. Trust me, many of us would love to change alimony laws, but they are what they are. She’s WAY lowballing you. I’m not saying rake her over the coals, it’s actually pretty easy to figure out. Google your state’s alimony calculator and it’ll be fairly close. Then figure out how much was contributed to savings/401k during the length of your relationship and you get half of that too. Don’t make bad finan…

Bro- good news, no matter how short or fat or anxious you are, there’s a chick way worse off than you online. Drop your standards a bit, and go slam some strange. Seriously, it’ll make you realize, if you’re a reasonably sane, employed man with your shit mostly together, you’re the prize. Pull the Constanza and just go opposite of what your brain tells you for a bit. Can’t get any worse right 🤷‍♂️

Sorry brother, stay strong. You’re not alone. I got fcked worse. Long term you’ll excel because of it

You are not wrong. She’s putting her best interests over those of your children. You can decide later what to do with the information received, but you have every right to be an informed parent. Hang in there man. It will get better

You are not living in crazy land. If you are, I live there too, and tbh it sucks. This is what they do (per everyone’s comments). Sorry bro, just know you’re not alone

Yeah, sorry brother you’re fucked. Welcome to the walkaway wives club. As far as being the primary breadwinner in a no fault state (sorry again, welcome to an even shittier club), take solace in that there’s a formula, and nothing you can do is gonna move that more than 25% in either direction. Stay strong. You’re not alone

1- you will, just give it time, there’s no other solution. Good news, it is indeed possible, and almost certain to happen. 2- bro, I’m 42, for when you start to online date, if I said I WANTED to have kids, I could bang 21 chicks a week (not vouching for all of them being knockouts 😜). There is a huge contingency of approx 38-42 yr old women whose biological clocks are ticking, and the fact that you can write and post this post, means you’re a catch. 3- everyone in the online dating community ha…

I’m honestly surprised there’s not more responses on your side here. Our dear colleagues on this sub though do make a compelling case 😬. . .

For sure. I guess I’m just asking if it’s ok for me to bang her for a bit or does that make me a terrible person?

So I’m in the same boat. How long did it take you to be able to find it funny? I still find it infuriating

Been there man. It’s sadly way more common than you think. Read “Leave a cheater, gain a life” by the chump lady

I wouldn’t say it HASTENS the inevitable. While I‘be had no positive experience personally, and very little evidence anecdotally that it’s ever worked. I do, somewhat agree with the opinion that it will buy you some time

Both true and untrue. Depends if you’re the dumper or dumpee, and/or who has the assets . . .

Nearly my exact same story man. I understand the pain. It’s brutal. Unfortunately, this light switch divorce is quite common, almost always entails infidelity, and rarely works out well. Stay strong. Don’t beat yourself up. This is on her

Sorry man. Not exactly the same situation, but I understand the pain of the one sided, light switch divorce. It’s brutal. Stay strong and try to come to grips with the fact your marriage is almost certainly over. Best of luck. You’re not alone

Same story here. It’s brutal and unfair

The “I’m not happy story” is not your failure. It’s a weak, selfish and immature move many people (women and men) pull. The pain is brutal, but it sounds like you did give it your all (as did I), which is all you can do. There’s no shame in trying and failing, but there is shame in not trying. Stay strong man, you’re not alone

Same story here man. Sometimes they just rewrite history in their heads. Wish I had some good advice on pushing through to the other side. It’s brutal. Just know that you’re not alone

Wow, this my EXACT same story. I’m surprised how many replies are in the same boat here too. Is there a medical diagnosis I wonder. At times I’ve considered narcissism, bi-polar, manic. I’ve finally settled on a petri dish of all 3 dusted with a healthy sprinkling of hormones and crazy. The worst part is what someone said above, I don’t want to continue on the ride with her, but I don’t want the other side either. Well, I guess misery loves company. Stay strong man, you’re not alone.

Couldn’t empathize more. I use the sky is blue example all the time. Turns out she was cheating, ugh. She’s been done for over 2 years, I had no idea. Brutal. You’re not alone

I’m in very much the same boat friend. Try betterhelp.com for more immediate therapy if needed. This is not all on you, In fact, she’s probably felt this way for quite some time, while you’ve had the rug pulled out from underneath you. It’s brutal and all encompassing. You need time to catch up. No great advice, just know you’re not alone. Stay strong. Try not to drink too much. Reach out to friends and loved ones.
