As an industrial designer myself, I've seen a clear division on women that follow creative careers (although when you think about it, that could apply to any profession) : Girl studies hard, actually focuses on stuff that can make some money, works on that, have a time out on their careers around 30 to have kids and slowly comes back to her career while balancing the time between that and being a mother.
