Yes, that's how it works on paper. Putting it into practice is a whole different story. Again, I'm convinced that you are exaggerating because it happens to fit your world view. And you get to throw in your "decades of experience" (real or not) and lean on that, so that's it. I disagree with your premise and doubt we will find a middle ground. Take care.

I think you are exaggerating in an attempt to make a point. While I agree that it's not as hard as many make it out to be, the "easiest job" is a hell of an exaggeration. It's almost as if you seriously think that every child is the exactly the same with the same needs, attitudes, and so on.

Similar situation in the late 80's/early 90's. My brother and I were little and constantly doing stupid shit to get hurt. My dad was a high school English teacher and I remember him talking about text slang creeping into essays starting in the mid 00's. Yep, interest in my state as well. The real killer for me was that I was on the hook for her lawyer fees. Apparently I was liable for her having to bring me to court to get her money in a timely fashion. She ended up in detox for cocaine use and was diagnosed with a couple mental illnesses. I was 3 weeks behind on CS a year and a half (ish) ago when I got laid off. 3 weeks before you get a one week check from unemployment and was simply broke. It cost me about $1200 after she took me to court over it. Over $360, when I was laid off. Then the judge acted like he was doing me a huge favor by properly dropping my CS payment on a temporary basis. The system is so broken it's laughable. I just wish more people could see it.

That's not wrong, in my experience. Found a bruise on my sons butt a few years back, which, he told me was left there by his moms new bf. So, I called CPS/DCFS and reported it. First, they tried talking me out of filing the report in the first place. Then their "investigation" consisted of calling her, once. No home check, no talking to the bf, nothing. One phone call. I knew the system was shit, but I never thought it was "let's let kids die before we properly investigate another female" bad.

In my experience, those people are worthless. When my son wound up with a quarter sized bruise on his butt and told me his moms new bf did, I filed a report with the local CPS/DCFS people and the country police. My ex took me to court because she felt that I shouldn't get to receive the child tax credit on my taxes last year.
