From Britannica “ideology, a form of social or political philosophy in which practical elements are as prominent as theoretical ones. It is a system of ideas that aspires both to explain the world and to change it.” The red pill movement is absolutely a social philosophy. It attempts to explain male female mate selection and also provides recommendations for how people should act and navigate relationships. We’re literally arguing semantics which is, in my opinion the lowest and most meaningless…

I’m talking about the black pill whose followers share similarities with red pill followers so I understand your confusion
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/25 02:22 PM

Im talking about the black pill, which does share similarities with the red pill so I understand the confusion. It is an ideology though. An ideology is just a framework used to try and make sense of the world and how it works. You might be confusing it with idealism? Which is how things should be in a perfect world? I’m unsure what you mean to be honest

It depends on what “the problem” is. I personally have two overarching issues with the black pill movement. The first issue that I have is someone subscribing to a limiting ideology that asks you to turn away from self growth. Holding onto that is harmful to the self. The second issue that I have with the black pill movement is that it perpetuates misogyny as well as a harmful seductive fatalistic and defeatist ideology. Spreading that to other people is harmful to others. The reason that this i…

Women ask men out. Not as often, but it does happen.

Your argument is wrong on the basis that women are the choosers. That might be true initially - women get to choose who they have sex with. But men choose commitment. A man is the one who gets down on his knee and asks a woman to marry him. For many women, this is one of the major milestones that they seek in life. It’s a major accomplishment to have a man choose them for life. Women gate keep sex. men gate keep commitment.

Because it’s a lie that stunts growth. I’ll draw parallel to something more overtly harmful. Let’s say I’m unsuccessful in life and blame some sort of antisemitic conspiracy as to the reason. “The Jews own the banks, it’s the Jews fault I’m not a winner!” People like this exist. You and I both are aware that this type of logic is used on a daily basis online for people to justify the reason why they failed at life. But it’s not true, it pushes accountability away from the self and onto some aspe…

People on a weight-loss journey who have given up on weight loss say the same things. I use weight loss as an example because it’s an example of a human endeavor where arguments against success uniquely have a specific failure point. The second law of thermodynamics. people will say over and over and over they tried they’ve done what they were supposed to do. It didn’t work for them. In weight loss, we can identify that that’s incorrect because it’s impossible to not lose weight on a calorie def…

First, let’s be clear feminism does not hinge on the idea that men are bad. Feminism is the idea that women deserve equal rights. Whatever that means. Interestingly, there is a movement within feminism that a lot of women don’t agree with that harbors groups of misogynistic woman that subscribes to the exact same ideology as blackpill men. That ideology claims that society is at fault, the opposite gender is at fault, It’s everyone’s fault, except for my own that I can’t find love. It’s an exact…

This argument has come up a few times I wanna be clear I don’t expect men to feel compelled to date. In fact, I think that the expectation to date is part of why the black pill exists because men want to be able to point to something as a reason why they’re not meeting that expectation. I do think that in my heart of hearts there are enough women out there for even ugly, hideous men to find success in dating if they just apply themselves regularly and often. Assuming that they are good people in…

It’s so interesting because toxic feminism is the perfect mirror to the black pill community. Its a community of women who are upset at their failures to find a man who have turned to man hating. “It’s society’s fault, it’s men’s fault, it certainly isn’t my fault!” It’s the exact same thing. They just give up on dating and resort to man hating in their past time to run away from their problems. It’s the exact same movement just with an X chromosome

You ask why I care if they stay home I don’t. I think that men can feel completely justified in not engaging in dating as long as they own that decision. The problem with the black pill ideology is that they are not owning it. They’re not taking accountability for their own situation. Instead, they pass the blame onto others in many cases society at large or they’ll take a misogynistic route and blame women. If guys want to stay home and give up, that’s totally fine but while they’re staying hom…

If you want a partner then you engage in dating. Pursue women, approach women get rejected and repeat that process until you get a partner. This is how every other man gets a partner. The black pill says “don’t engage in dating because your chances of finding a partner are slim to zero, why face all of that rejection just give up, it’s over for you” So my advice is to ignore and reject that narrative. It’s a lie. Go out and socialize yourself with women learn how to talk to women learn how to at…

Your last statement specifically is the antithesis to the black pill ideology. “ rejection hurts. I need a reason or justification not to engage in a behavior that will lead to me getting rejected.”

Learn to handle rejection in a healthier way. Learn to recover from the black pill mindset so that you can have a normal life. Dealing with rejection is the “work” that people are running from

Recommendation for what?

Yeah, but every person is attracted to something different. In a way one of the initial goals in dating is trying to find someone that you are attracted to that is also attracted to you back.

Right, but there’s a constellation of things that make up someone’s level of attractiveness so while being fat might be a negative to someone there could be a million things about that person that makes them still attractive. Obviously not every single guy who’s dating a fat woman is a chubby chaser, which is a fetish. Some people just are willing to overlook a perceived negative. Relationships are a compromise of qualities that you want in a person and qualities that you don’t want, but are wil…

Are you saying that if we take chubby chasers out of the equation no man would ever fall for a fat woman?

I’m not a short man, but why should my height matter? My best friend is 5”1 and married. Growing up I saw how he was treated for his height and it’s unacceptable. But he not only got married he has a second kid on the way.

No one is saying that being short doesn’t disadvantage men from finding a relationship.

OK, let’s pretend I’m a fat woman. Would I be justified in saying that I’ll never find love because fat women aren’t attractive and so I should just give up? Or do you think I should keep looking for a man who doesn’t mind that I’m fat

couple with osteogenesis imperfecta Google that If the man in this couple were alone in his basement he would have every reason to believe that he would never find love, but he found it Again, the whole idea behind the ideology is to convince yourself that your chances are zero and you’ll never make it. Nobody can see into the future. Nobody can say for sure that your chance is 0%. Your chance might be low But so was the dude from the google search His chances were definitely low.

This is very true! Some people are frustrated that they can’t find their ideal partner. This is especially true of people that hold certain concepts of sexual purity. I do think there are a lot of people in that subgroup that faced rejection as they reached young adulthood, people who were unable to have success with women and therefore feel intimidated by sexually experienced women when they themselves are not experienced. Many of these guys would only feel comfortable settling down with a woma…

He should probably keep asking women. Women aren’t a monolith and they do not all discount short men so if that’s the only thing stopping him then he should continue with the hope that he finds a woman that doesn’t mind that he’s short

There are a population of men that don’t date who also don’t try and justify it with a fatalistic ideology It’s the justification behind it that’s the problem. I don’t think anyone should feel compelled to date.

I would agree with you that things like this do impact dating success. The point I’m trying to make is that the movement is latching onto this concept to create an illusion that a man’s chances of success are zero so that he can feel justified in not having to participate in dating, the ultimate goal being to avoid rejection.

I don’t think that someone should feel compelled to participate in something like dating. But if that person leaves the dating scene and while doing so points to a series of misogynistic articles that assert that women are shallow, materialistic, gold diggers, by nature. Shouting from the rooftops and enticing additional men into believing these things ultimately perpetuating negative stereotypes about women. That’s wrong. A lot of black pill conversation is criticized for boiling down to a “wom…
