I see we went from "it's not happening" to "it's happening but it isn't that bad," to "it's happening and it's a good thing." These people are just manipulative narcissists.

The tendency from many progressives to invalidate men at every stage when genuinely expressing their grief is going to produce far more misogynists than some alleged patriarchal male supremacy ever did

In general misandrists do this all the time. It's highly manipulative. They say that men and women are equal for rhetorical sympathy, but the moment you point out harm done by women, they flip and make women out to be angels who's wrongs are not that bad. And when women do bad things, it's because they were made to because of loneliness, mental health, abuse, or anything. They read out the narcissist's prayer basically word for word. In other words, men and women are equal when it benefits them,…

To be male in this day and age is to bare the weight of the actions of others. If you're suffering, you are simply a failing cog in a machine "built by men for men" that presently and suspiciously seems to only devour men. Is male suffering really a product of patriarchy when its only victims are men? Or is it simply the elite exploiting a class of people for whom advocacy is taboo? We live in a society that faults men for their own oppression and suffering, and somehow doesn't see the issue wit…

Part of this is just a stupid and dishonest game. Whoever appears to need the other less has all the negotiating power. Most women do not want to be alone for their entire lives, but by saying they're perfectly okay with it, then tadaa, you now have to appeal to them in order to get attention, aka their attention is now a commodity you have to purchase while your attention is worth nothing. You ever hear a girl say "I am the table?" Its a reflection of this mindset. You have to essentially put i…

When feminism acts as a shield that actively results in normalization of anti-male rhetoric that it does basically nothing about... yeah it's a motte and bailey. What is "gender equality" if only one side is allowed to be equal? If Feminism can spend decades arguing against Misogyny down to even the smallest microagressions, including fiction, but there is no serious feminist push against the misandrist rhetoric within their own movements, it is not living up to its own principles of "equality."…

I get where you're coming from, but that is not how this plays out in practice. It's always used as a dunk or gotcha to belittle or diffuse the problem. People almost never say "most men are victimized by men" in an attempt to actually find a solution to the problem, its to recenter men as the problem and thus frame them as undeserving of sympathy and concern.

I actually made a post addressing exactly this, but the core of it is Feminism is a massive Motte and Bailey, reasonable feminists become a shield for radical misandrists who hide behind the reasonable feminists to avoid accountability and normalize their bad rhetoric. https://www.reddit.com/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates/comments/1rhhg1y/feminism_functions_as_a_massive_motte_and_bailey/

Its a little different in this case than WWII because everyone is in a media bubble that they think is objective reality. I am fed far more misandry than a lot of feminists, and feminists are fed a lot more misogyny than I. I could totally see some feminists still genuinely, earnestly believing misandry in feminism is a rarity and has no impact. I could totally see myself having a skewed perspective, although, a lot of feminists have said incredibly sexist things to me personally that make me wo…

Some, sure. Maybe even most at this point, I know if I was a feminist I would've jumped ship years ago seeing what my "comrades" are up to. But I have no way to quantify how many are malicious, and how many are ignorant of the sheer scale of what is occurring. The cope that the Bailey is only a small part of feminism might genuinely feel real to them, so I don't wish to call every feminist evil. If one isn't, I would like for them to be able to read this post and understand, as unlikely as that …

With a mission statement containing objective universal principles that the movement doesn't actively EXCEMPT itself from, and principled leadership, this can be entirely avoided. Otherwise yes, the movement should be criticized from the outside and inside, but that has also been removed in this case.

A girl told me that men are oppressors because "they've always made laws that oppress women," I responded "no actually, I have not done that." Obviously I prefer to be judged on my own merits and not by the merits of Mr. Adolf. And instead of dialing it back because obviously I am not personally a patriarchal legislator she doubled down so like, yes she literally expected me to take responsibility for every male leader to ever exist throughout history. Even before I was born. It is a mindset I'v…

For clarity, when I attack "feminism" I am not attacking each individual feminist, there are reasonable feminists for sure. But, the trends I attack in feminism are prevalent in social media and a lot of college campuses, which are the main places normal people engage with and learn feminist ideas.

I think, ironically, men's issues being handwaved like this pushes men towards the likes of Trump. Feminism is associated with the left even if it's not the whole left. When men are suffering a game they can't win, they don't come out in droves to start social conversations like women do, they quietly disconnect and resist. When the people they see as dehumanizing them are associated with the left, they'll flock to the right. And unfortunately, the fact this subreddit exists says to me that left…

The issue with a lot of this kind of rhetoric is, its easy to belt out a one sentence response that doesn't address the claim or belittles it, but explaining how terrible that their rhetoric is in such concrete detail they can't just handwave it away take like 4 paragraphs.

I do the same thing, art and writing. Its a helpful outlet, and a lot of guys have no choice but to submerge themselves in some level of distraction like that because nobody will ever hear them.

Well, maybe you should talk about it for hours, because I personally think its important. Being a man is very very lonely and finding someone who genuinely receives your emotions without judgment feels mostly impossible. Even other men are difficult to connect with, and typically, they're all you're going to get. Women overwhelmingly view male vulnerability as a burden or annoyance unless they know you very very well, or are quite a special and principled person. This is anecdotal, but every tim…

I have seen this happen a few times where trans men are shocked by how poorly men are treated. It feels like a gut punch every time because it obviously hits them very hard, they aren't numb to it yet. I think the trans perspective gives very important insights on the issues between the genders. When you're born cis, your presenting gender stays the same over your whole life, so you're like a fish being asked how water tastes. Trans people, who lived as the other gender before transitioning, hav…

Feminism is not about equality, it has seldom ever advocated for men in positions they were behind. Feminists criticized men for sitting a way they didn't like while turning a blind eye to women taking up space with bags. Feminists lectured men for decades about toxic masculinity, while never exploring the toxic aspects of femininity. Feminists scrutinized the male gaze as objectifying, but say nothing when women's main criteria in a partner is their salary. Feminism said that you should believe…

The point is that feminists only see the men above them and they ignore the massive quantity of men below them, which is overwhelmingly true. If you scrutinize every little detail, then yes society is not linear gender sandwich, but also the image would be so complex and schizophrenic the criticism would be impossible to understand, and said complexity would serve no purpose. The purpose is to point out a simple cognitive bias that is overwhelmingly prevalent in society, not to be a 1:1 mapping …

People are just defensive. Feminist narratives have dominated society for long enough I think it's become the paradigm a lot of people are comfortable with, and so they are upset or confused when confronted with a more nuanced narrative. Circumcision is a problem both men and women perpetuate because it's what they know, but even acknowledging that can get you called a misogynist. They take any exploration of men's problems as an attack on women even if you never say women are solely responsible…

No. It doesn't. I never said the problem is women can vote or work, I said that feminism villainizes men as oppressors, repeatedly belittles their problems and wrongfully claims they have privilege, and that exacerbates existing male issues and creates new ones. Feminism is not beyond critique just because older iterations of it gave women more rights. And also you moved the goalpost, you said I was blaming women before, then went to saying I was blaming that women got rights. I am not blaming e…

It is true that I am a filthy american and made the image with an american point of view, but also it was meant to be as simple and readable as possible to get the point across. Otherwise I'd have to speckle every group with the opposite gender, make the top triangle impossibly tiny, and I think that distracts from what is supposed to be pointing out a very simple idea.

I think I have to strongly disagree with your framing of the post. All the post points out is that men's issues aren't taken seriously, not that women are causing them. If anything, the fact it came off like that to you seems to reflect the exact bias I am talking about that makes it impossible to talk about these problems. Feminism is creating some problems and making many others worse for reasons I described, and refusing to take them seriously, but feminism does not equal women. I don't think…

Usually the things men do care about that women don't have counterparts. Men tend to care about weight more as far as I know, where as women tend to care about height more. While conservative men might expect their girl to become a housewife, I find a lot of women scoff at me or other men saying I'd love to stay home and tend to the kids and house myself. What I find interesting is the asymmetry in how these standards are questioned. When men prefer skinnier women, we get a national fat acceptan…

Autistic people in general tend to have unique proclivities that aren't exactly bad, just different, and men seem to be far more accepting of those differences in women than women are in men.

Thanks for asking questions. Transaction affection is being loved for what you give others, not who you are. If you ever stop providing for any reason, even if its just temporary, many men find that their connections dissolve instantly and the people around them do not love them the way they thought. Many men will be supportive and kind to people for years only to get backstabbed (by friends and lovers) the instant things get slightly rough for them. Its a near universal experience for men that …

Keep in mind that the top triangle is proportionally smaller than it looks. It's referring to the top of the top, and generally, if you're at that point allegations mean nothing to you. There comes a certain point where you could be implicated in the Epstein Files and not even get an investigation, the top triangle isn't simply men who are doing well for themselves. It's the elite, not men who are going to get drafted. In the post I said 0.1% of men, and frankly, that's a generous estimation.

The thing about "Male Privilege" is that the vast majority of men don't have it, and the ones that do, really just have pretty/wealthy privilege. Which is often earned, you have to work at being pretty or wealthy most of the time, so can they really be bemoaned for that? Male privilege is calculated from the female point of view. People tend to look at what other people have that they don't, they don't look at what they have that other people yearn for. This means, if you imagine society as a py…

I think we agree, true gender equality helps both genders at the same time by virtue of those genders fates being intertwined. And it does that consistently.

When I say that, I mean it in the long term. If your movement only advocates for one sex, it might work in the short term and you can make genuine progress, but if the movement does nothing but take from one sex to give to another you will find yourself facing a massive backlash. Aka a regression of progress, perhaps even putting you back where you started if not worse if the tension was severe enough when the pendulum started swinging. I feel that is the situation South Korea will find itself i…
