Sure, some guys are average looking, but what about for the guys that are significantly below average looking like myself? I’m doing all the things that a guy is supposed to to improve his chances in dating and yet I’m still left with absolutely no options.

What do you recommend I do when I get weird looks from women for smiling at them? There’s no defense from my position. I can say that I was just being friendly and smiling at them, but any security anywhere is going to take their word over mine and kick me out for being “creepy” and smiling at strangers as an ugly freak.

Average men can get with women. Genuinely ugly men do not get married, or if they do, they’re cheated on and used for their money.

I’ve chose to do all of the things and more that are “self improvement” tasks, they just haven’t worked for me. I’m in the gym 5 days a week. I eat zero junk or fast food. I rarely drink. I go to the barber every 3 week. I have watches, chains, colognes. Have a wardrobe that other women usually thirst over. I’ve legit had my friends girlfriends like privately talk to me at social gatherings and basically beg me to give their boyfriends fashion tips or to go clothes shopping with them so they dre…

Mindset doesn’t apply. I’ve already done all of that.

I’ve been involved in similar activities and got pretty depressed when I was pretty much the only guy at any of the groups who was single, or was just never talked to or included in any of the discussions or invitations to stuff after the events. It’s hard watching everyone click and get introduced and meet other people and I’m just dehumanized and ostracized by everyone else. It gets old after a while especially when you help guys out and give them advice and watch them find partners and then n…

Ive never heard of this interpretation of it before, and also perceived the implicit meaning of it to be basically saying the same thing twice, but I do get the point you’re making. For me, I fail at Rule #1 so I don’t even have a chance for my personality or confidence to matter unfortunately.

Not really. Pretty sure the rule 1 and 2 joke was invented to basically say that the only thing that determines your dating success is looks, which is why it’s 2 rules that basically say the same thing. Be attractive, don’t be ugly. I’ve known far too many conventionally attractive guys who had ugly personalities that were able to easily date. Meanwhile, I’m someone who has been called ugly countless times, but told by people I have a great personality. It’s basically saying the truth, which is …

Nope. Not once in my entire life. I think a lot of people mistake “ugly” for average nowadays. I’ve seen average guys with girlfriends, but I’d describe myself as genuinely ugly. I’ve never seen a guy who looks like me with a girlfriend. I hardly ever see anyone who looks like me period. I think I’ve only ever seen one guy who was a similar level of ugly as me and he seemed deeply depressed and hopeless.

Rule 1 and 2 are: Be attractive don’t be unattractive

See, as an ugly guy, I’m stuck at the “have options” part. I can out-talk and have way more confidence and social competence than most pick up artists or “players”, and yet, it does nothing for me.

It has only told me that it’s not my personality or social skills preventing me from dating. All it does is CONFIRM to me that I’m alone because of my looks alone.

As an ugly dude. I don’t even GET matches. When I would, I’d find myself talking to bots and getting actual responses and it just instantly set off alarm bells in my head like, wait, this girl matched with me and she’s actually talking to me? But nah, you definitely need to work on your text game. You’re already doing the hardest part which is getting matches. Social skills are INSANELY easy to develop and are usually a minor part of dating and attraction, but if you’re completely lacking, it ca…

I think people focus way too much on social skills and “game”. 99% of it is your appearance and that first impression. It’s infinitely harder to be an ugly guy with great social skills and see success dating than it is to be an attractive guy with social anxiety and social inhibitions. The attractive guy who never goes out or approaches women is going to STILL have more dating experience than the unattractive guy who is constantly putting himself out there and getting rejected.

As an ugly 26m. I have well over 1000 cold approaches and haven’t gotten anything. It’s brutally dehumanizing.

This only works if you’re decently attractive. I haven’t met any women through hobbies as they’re all dating or the ones who are single are hooking up with attractive men off of apps.

As an ugly guy who doesn’t even get matches, it’s good to know that it isn’t my effort or personality keeping me from dating, but my looks alone.

Been on dating apps for the last 5 years consistently throughout college. Haven’t gotten a date from any of the apps and uninstalled them closer to the beginning of this year. It’s just crushing to accept that I’m only single because I’m too ugly to date.

Completely disagree. If they’re my actions, why do the SAME exact approaches that I use never land while they consistently work for other guys? It feels like you’re heavily bending your logic to conform to this unrealistic worldview that you have where you disallow the chance of a man being rejected because he’s unattractive.

Let me guess. You wouldn’t have considered going out with him if he was short and ugly?

Height and physical appearance. Facial leanness, facial symmetry and harmony. This is 99.9999% of it. You can go out as a tall guy in a basic target t shirt and shorts and pull more than any other guy if you’re just tall and attractive. You don’t have to be a good conversationalist, you don’t have to be confident or funny, just good looking.

99% of it is looks. Very little else matters.

As an ugly guy. I understand approaching women isn’t inherently bad, but for many women, it’s bad or unwelcome when I do it. I get that it’s because of my appearance in areas outside of what I can control. How do I navigate around my experiences being overwhelming negative and dehumanizing? nearly every interaction with women is degrading or dehumanizing.

I’ve learned I’m a genuinely ugly guy and there’s really nothing that I can do to make dating work for me. Not very interested in looking at escorting as an option because I’m not really craving sex as much as I’m just craving the opportunity to date and experience any affection from women.

Talking to girls is 99% how you look. You can literally autistically rant about random stuff and just talk for hours about yourself and women will still be interested in you. If you’re ugly and are a social expert, it just won’t make a difference for most women.

Meanwhile, us ugly guys don’t even get to go on dates… I can’t wait to just blow my brains out 😆

What if I don’t even have the chance to get a conversation going, or I feel like I’m asking every question and no matter what, they just aren’t interested. I’ve literally gotten replies from women before telling me like I’m the smartest guy and best at conversation or communication than any guy they’ve ever met, but they just don’t find me attractive. Where tf do I go from here? The more I go out and get rejected, the more bitter and resentful I feel because of the unfair treatment and judgement…
