I don't know what your quoted phrases are referencing, but it's pretty well documented, medically and scientifically, that talking about your conflicted feelings is healthier than bottling them up. Doesn't have to be verbal, can be in a letter or over email. It's not a gender issue.

Yea, it seemed pretty evident to me even in OP's link that this guy was just a huge disruption in the classroom. Doesn't matter if he's right, constant lack of decorum in the classroom is disruptive.

I read Mr. Smith's comments, and maybe they were transcribed very poorly, but I couldn't understand the point he was making. To me it sounded like, "don't do things to provoke bad outcomes" which on the surface makes sense, but I can see how it's akin to "don't wear short skirts". I'm not aware of the Ray Rice story aside from he knocked a woman out and dragged her out of an elevator. I hadn't heard anything about her attacking him.
