What is his child support order per month? Is he in arrears? There may be a perfectly valid reason for taking so much out of his paycheck, but we don't know. You've not even met him, and you're taking your father's word for everything about Alex, which is hearsay. We don't know if the support order is reasonable or not, he may have arrears from over a decade ago. You simply do not have enough information about the situation to comment to whether it is fair or not.

So children are supposed to sleep in the same room as their parent/step-parent? Ridiculous. Most child support orders are closer to $1000/month because that's more realistic for the costs of taking care of children. Child support is based on percentages of incomes, the minimum cost of raising a child doesn't enter into it, and it shouldn't. Children get a higher quality of life if their parents earn more, that money should be shared between the parents to benefit the child, just as additional mo…

You clearly know nothing about what it costs to support a child. Firstly, a child will likely need its own room, so that's an extra $200 a month right there. Plus the cost of food, clothing, power, water, internet, extra-curriculars, daycare, healthcare, glasses/dental work, transport, gifts and other one-offs. Fathers supporting their children should also not be looking to give their children dirt cheap food or clothing, they should be happy to give their children health nutritious food and qua…

You put your hands on her first. If you think we are going to believe that you "placed" your hand gently on her wrist, you're insane. It doesn't really matter what precipitated you doing that. You should have called the police as soon as the trouble started, or left the situation.

Even with an average job far above minimum wage, this is impossible, largely due to the support orders. What's impossible is raising a child with those meagre child support payments. $32 a month? Raising a child on $1/day? It really is the innocent children who are suffering here, not an irresponsible father who has 4 child support orders.

Well yes, they save as well, but additional income does get spent on the children as well as the parents. It's not like children have a certain standard of living at $40k household income, and they maintain that standard of living at $100k household income. The vast majority of parents don't do that because it's unreasonable. Parent share their luxuries with their children. If income rises from $40k to $100k, do people continue living at their current standard and save the additional $60k? Incre…

Child support is often not about the minimum to support a child. If parents are wealthy, then it is reasonable that that wealth spreads through to the children. That is what occurs in two-parent families that are together, if Mom and Dad start earning more money they spend more on luxuries and the quality of life in the whole household increases. Children don't keep eating low quality food or wearing hand-me-downs while the parents keep the additional income for themselves. That's why child supp…

It's not just about the children. I did say "for the raising of his child." Obviously parents are required to pay child support to raise their children, not random strangers.

Well child support is for the children, so the father would be liable to pay money for the raising of his child. It's not that surprising.
