I study body language, got my masters as a clinical mental health counselor and my doctorate in behavioral analysis (it has a longer name but that’s a much cooler way to say I stare at people when they talk) and so these trials have been an absolute gold mine for me. I took one for my graduate school interview to make sure that I wasn’t going to Jim Jones any patients under my care and then during my actual instruction courses had to learn all about the psychometrics of it. The MMPI is a fucking intense test both to take and slightly less to evaluate.

For the love of god do not administer this test yourself. Have a trained professional administer it. There’s more to it than just interpreting the raw score and making a diagnosis. I’m a clinical psychologist and I’m telling you these tests are way more than buzzfeed questionnaires where the raw score is your answer. There’s a shit load of psychometrics that have to be taken into account to get an accurate read and even then it can still be skewed.

Ok as an actual clinical psych, please don’t self diagnose. Please. I’m begging you. In grad school my professor actually had us swear (jokingly of course) that we ourselves would not self diagnose. If you think you may have a mental health diagnosis please go have an evaluation by a licensed and trained professional who is trained and understands the differences and nuances of the human brain and mental diagnoses.
