Sorry, didn’t intend to pigeonhole you. Thank you for sharing that.

Why would we want to go backwards? Are you suggesting that women should be treated like property? This is the worst argument yet.

I have responded to others thinking it has to do with trust, check out my responses there

I agree that a marriage is not a union of love, if you don’t have a prenup. With a proper prenup they are exactly that.

I absolute empathize the victims of this toxic system which is why I have spoken out. People are born and raised in this culture where predatory loans exist and I speak out about those too. My intent is to be informative and just. Marriage laws cause more harm than good, prenups keep legal contracts out of marriage.

This is exactly why I’m pro-prenup. I don’t want to sign up for all that religious/property BS, and anyone who wants that, I would never consider marrying. I have been married for over 10 years with a prenup. The toxicity I see in all that baggage is the exact reason I believe most religious/property marriages fail. And I’m sorry if you only think true love (marriages) occurs in movies, hopefully that will change for you soon.

In simple terms, I don’t want the government involved in my love life, attempts to prevent that.

I agree that love isn’t logical, however legal marriage is not the definition of love, loads of people keep government out of their marriage and if you discount their love, then that’s on you. The “long time” legal construct is literally all I have a problem with. “Love isnt supposed to be a contract” is exactly a reason to have a prenup. A prenup is the dissolving of the barbaric legal love contract. I personal love my partner strictly for love, I am not allowing the state to intervening in my …

Calling my stance dumb is pretty telling of your intentions here, so I should probably just ignore you, but for the 3rd party readers, here we go... Making assumptions about trust is already a huge red flag for me about your relationship. Assumptions are... you know. Also, trust has almost nothing to do with this. Marriages end for a myriad reasons, making a legal vowel that your marriage is immune to divorce is at best innocent and whimsically ignorant. Getting married is not just a contract be…

Marriage should be about love and not what you can extract from someone else, if a person is against a prenump, I would conside that a red flag, as they are not marrying for love but for what they can gain. Legal marriage laws are a very outdated social construct.
