| 1 | Should I stop depositing into my 401K?There's a formal process called QDRO. It's yet another legal feee. Plan administrators like Fidelity/Schwab/Rowe/etc will probably insist on a QDRO to split the account. This also shields the original account and what will likely be a new a new IRA for your ex from tax penalties. It'll split the savings properly. If date of separation rules are in effect, you'll receive all the contributions made after DOS. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/09/24 06:37 AM |
| 1 | Preparing in advanceWaiting for the kids to reach adulthood has some perks. There is no pick up / drop off drama. The kids can be safely tucked away in some dorm room or live with friends in an apartment away from the bitterness. The ex's new love interest doesn't become an unescapable live-in nightmare for the kids. I waited until my youngest reached 18. I'm glad I did. I lurk here a lot. And it seems half the posts are about parenting difficulties. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 06:52 PM |
| 5 | Is it weird that my exes family never deleted me on Facebook?More likely than not, your ex in-laws simply don't care. 60 seconds is far too much energy to log into facebook, find your profiles, and click unfriend. It's a big deal for you. It's a big deal for your ex. But they don't care. They're wondering what taco shop has the best churros and whether $150 is too much for an oil change. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/08/24 08:01 AM |
