You can believe that women deserve their own rights without being a feminist. Feminism is a cooked ideology, so not being a feminist is a move towards normalcy.

Is it serving you to not believe in anything? Do you see the value in being Christian?

I recently got banned from /r/feminism for posting a comment that was being upvoted. I committed the crime of being male though, and that was enough for the moderators. I wasn't pandering to feminism either by the way, I was astonished I was getting upvoted in that sub.

Wow what a glaring contradiction /r/feminismformen is.... dont feminists always carry on about how its all about equality? They don't even seem to be trying to maintain their lies anymore.

Fair enough, but I wasn't taking an explicitly non-feminist position, so I still don't understand why I was banned. On a different note: I wonder how feminists on reddit test the strength of their convictions, if they ban anyone from challenging them? Cults are formed that way.

Feminists encompass both men and women according to feminists. So why would I be banned on the grounds of simply being a man? It is a rhetorical question - I don't actually expect feminists to make any sense at this point. They didn't know I wasn't a feminist when they banned me - unless displaying critical thinking skills gave me away.

I was just banned from there as well for responding to an article on 'sexism in gaming'. My post was getting upvoted, however I still received a ban. This is what I wrote: I personally don't think it has to do with gender at all. As a gamer myself, people will be disparaging towards someone who isn't contributing to the team dynamic, if that person happens to be a woman then so be it. If the game is non-competitive, there will be much less verbal abuse. Check out a minecraft live stream for exam…

I stand corrected you make a good point - particularly with the male gynecologist example. I think I had a emotional response - a double-standard does still exist however, I believe, whereby it is more acceptable within the social sphere for a woman to take a position of authority regarding man's issues, than would be for a man to take a position of authority regarding women's issues. This bothers me, because it suggests an unreasonable acceptance of women having some kind of inherent 'dual-comp…

My posts are usually few and far between on reddit, because someone often will attempt to put words your mouth, or often erroneously make suppositions about what's being communicated instead of taking it at face value - as you just did. There are plenty of men around with direct experience with having a penis who are also educated, so despite whatever amount of study she has done, she's unnecessary - we can handle this one. Can you imagine a man in a similar platform pretending to be some kind o…

I'll always have a problem with a movement named after a specific gender that tries to sell itself as egalitarian. It's insulting to everyone that has to hear it. However, you seem to be fairly level-headed, and I'd say you are a credit to what feminism purports to be.

No I believe that you believe it. I just can't help but notice the timing of when it suddenly became an issue within the social context. So either it wasn't really a big deal before, because it isn't really a big deal now (likely). Or you guys are at the vanguard of liberating the world of the prevailing ignorance surrounding male circumcision (unlikely). You can swap out 'circumcision' for 'mutilation' in an attempt to create a sense a legitimacy for your cause. However, then I guess you should…

I'm not sure if this is a thread where people are welcome to their own opinion... but as a circumcised adult male, I find the indignation towards male circumcision to be completely idiotic. If you were circumcised as a baby, then you've never known anything else, so to pretend that you're upset about something you've never experienced is just... wow. It doesn't make sex undesirable and it has proven health benefits, so this, in my miind, is a classic case of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Mate I've been trying to do you a kindness and walk away without argument. But the fact of the matter is that not only have you refuted nothing, but you're actually quite stupid. I derive no pleasure from saying that, but please try to exercise some self-awareness. Your arguments and structure are appalling; you are barely coherent... and I'm not sure you've had any kind of higher education at all. Please just let this go, its embarrassing for you (even if you aren't aware), and I prefer not to …

You opened with a passive-aggressive attack in your first post to me with something about hoping I never get in to the psychology profession, and every post thereafter (besides your last) has contained a personal attack. Now ever since your first post you've been trying to paint yourself as some kind of paragon of reason and objectivity. Give me a fucking break. I explained my position pretty clearly in my original post. The guy was inappropriate and so he was evicted from the classroom. Having e…

No, I just wasn't dignifying you with a response. Re-read what you last wrote to me and honestly ask yourself who is the pathetic one in this exchange. Look at your word usage, and how you're trying to create a collective 'you vs me' dynamic in the conversation in an attempt to lend weight to your position where there already is none. Getting a larger number of stupid people to agree with you doesn't make you more right, it just makes you less lonely in your belief. It's still stupid.

Yeah psychology class is not group therapy. Sucks that it happened to him but there's a time and place for airing something like that, and a room full of strangers/acquaintances in a centre of learning is not one of them. That revelation would have completely derailed the class. Teacher was right. He wasn't thrown out for being male and being raped by a man, he was thrown out because he was inappropriate. As a student of psychology I've witnessed people mistaking psych class as a therapy session…

It certainly hasn't felt that way, however you're much more amicable now. What you say is true, I would be banned now if I were in a feminist thread. I feel strongly about men issues as well, but I also feel strongly about how those who champion these issues portray the rest of us.

No I'm not suggesting that being against male circumcision is comparable to feminism. I'm saying the reaction here towards a different point-of-view is similar to a feminist thread. It's like, 'omg someone who is thinking independently! Lets get him!'

The tone of my original post was completely non-combative and merely stating an opinion. I closed it by acknowledging that people are free to have their own opinions on the subject, and then you degenerated the dialogue in to what it is now. This isn't a matter of opinion. These are the facts. Anything you might have to say to the contrary is bullshit because it simply isn't true.

I'm circumcised and I'm completely okay about it. I don't understand the hysteria at all... maybe some guys had it done wrong or something. To me, this emotive perspective on the issue seems to be symptomatic of a growing culture of whining which seems to have been 'greenlit' by the feminist movement. A kind of, 'They're doing it, so we should too!" I understand the mentality of wanting to fight fire with fire and the importance of raising awareness on important issues, but I think the reaction …

1)Feminism is militant Which is false, as you're stating that all manner of feminism is militant. No you've just determined on your own that I think all manner of feminism is militant, I neither mentioned different types of feminism nor did I say all of it was militant. So how exactly am I taking this out of context exactly? You've stated that all feminism is militant, implied that men as a subset of humanity have always been kind to women A complete invention of your imagination if you merely r…

Again, you're not playing the blame game or pointing fingers, but you say that the other side should go first. That doesn't seem troubling at all to you? Taking in to consideration the points I listed, no it doesn't, but its a very easy point to attack when taken out of context like you have. I mean hell, if nothing else, why not get one up on the feminists that haven't been kind to men, and fight for women's rights also if for nothing else than to spite them by getting there first!? Your entire…

Do you believe that the MRM also fights for the rights of women? When was the last time you saw a post on this subreddit talking specifically about a problem which women face? About laws which we need to put in place to help women? I doubt it was any time lately. Considering the militant nature of feminism towards men since the movement's inception, I think it would be fair to say that the feminism movement are deserving of nothing from the MRM with regards to egalitarianism. I don't say this fr…

Why? This is something I struggle with understanding. Either we become all that which we dislike about the feminist movement (making mountains out of molehills etc.), or we choose to be more discerning and less frivolous about the subject matter we discuss. I don't see how pointing fingers helps anyone.

This hurts Al Jazeera more than it hurts men. Remember that by acknowledging something you give it a certain level of credibility. Don't be like the feminists and jump on every little thing that could be considered an injustice, its just lowering yourself to their level, instead just keep an eye on the big issues that affect men and women. TL;DR Don't sweat the small stuff. Eyes on the big picture.

It's a sensationalist title designed to draw attention to the article... so its succeeding as far as that goes. Its essentially a stupid and long-winded way of saying conscientious men will practice more self-awareness when in the lone presence of a woman.

The response was intended for everyone aside from you, I just assumed that was obvious. This is directed at you though: consider the way you conduct yourself, what you say and how you say it, and then consider whether or not you sound like someone who is on the right side or the wrong side of the debate. I don't identify as an MRA incidentally. If anything I'm neutral or a humanist. I don't have an axe to grind which apparently the same can't be said for you. People might start to take you serio…

I'd say the current state of feminism breeds misogyny, which gives the feminists fuel for the fire, so they amp up the hate, which in turn breeds more hate from the other side etc. And so the cycle continues.
/r/MensRights30/05/14 01:56 AM

I know how this is probably going to sound, but that's not how its intended, so I'm going to say it anyway. Feminism wouldn't bother me so much if I encountered more intelligent members with some modicum of critical thinking ability, and a position that wasn't totally saturated in bias. Meeting one who is the opposite of that is about as rare as seeing a unicorn. It really is hard to take the movement seriously.

I don't mean to state the obvious, but isn't entitlement the entire basis of the feminist movement?
