Never help people with an expectation of praise. That's just self-aggrandizing. Being kind to people is something you do for yourself because it makes you feel better.

That's a little too long for GenX. A simple, "get bent", would do. Or if you're really spicy, "go suck a fuck". Go suck a fuck - Donnie Darko

As the Buddhist say, you can't help anyone until you help yourself. Without being secure in your own life any help you offer will be fleeting and incomplete. It will also be a drain on your own self. Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone esle warm.

I'm nearly 50yrs old and have been a more proficient cook than nearly every woman I've dated. Can walk into their kitchen and make them a meal from their fridge/pantry. Keep a cleaner house. Maintain the yard. Set a budget. I do everything for myself. If my gf wants to cook for me, great. If not, also great. My life/relationships aren't a zero sum game. These women can fend for themselves. I refuse to do "husband work" when they refuse to have a partnership

Sports and gaming are elaborate social structures in and of themselves. Have you ever played poker? There is a lot of mental manipulation going on. Men may do things differently, but it doesn't make us less "socially alert or adept."

Drop the rope or drop the girlfriend. She doesn't see what you do for her because it is the norm. Stop doing all the little things that make her life easier and yours harder. She doesn't clean, neither do you. She will either step up to fill the void or your kitchen will be a shit hole. Or if delicious food smells horrible to her, she might be pregnant. Good luck!

Give her a break Why? We see articles like this about men and their daughters. The comments are always about, "why did it take a daughter and not his wife, or mother, or any other woman in his life to make him see the light?" Even in a place like this sub the onus is always on the man to have more compassion for the woman in the situation.

“I would’ve given him everything.” Except for the thing he values the most. And not even anything else. People, men and women both, put their best foot forward when they first start dating. Then the "honeymoon" phase wears off and you start getting their "above average" foot forward. After a few years you get a picture of why their '"average" is what it is. People don't tend to give more and more as a relationship progresses. They give what they are willing to, minus what they can get away with …

I found it telling how when a woman does OF it's "sex work," but when a man does it it is "sex work adjacent." Making sex work a gendered job. She also was upset that other men were interested in viewing him and not so much other women. Showing that preselection matters, but only when it's other women validating her choice. Eta: it also shows that through all the feminism she is still just a typical homophobe.

When my ltr admitted she secretly wanted an "oops baby" I immediately made an appointment. Do what's best for you. I did end up telling her and we are still together. If a woman wants to be with you, she will. If she doesn't, she will use whatever convenient excuse she can to make herself feel better about it.

A 130lb woman having 2 glasses of wine in an hour (average length of dinner) will have a BAC of .08%. That's too drunk to drive almost anywhere. At 150lbs she will be at .06% and a 3rd drink puts her at .10%. Both women could accuse you of date rape and win. Be smart out there.

After two months of wasting his time and energy she still wants more? Fuck that. He needed to move on earlier not work harder to get a crumb. Women constantly raise the bar, for men. They are never satisfied with how things are now. She wants more time. More energy. And presumably more money. It's a never-ending slog. Meanwhile, she is lowering the bar for …

Monks can only do what they do because the "machine" has always existed. It's society. We only have what we have because we've always worked together. Go walk naked into the woods and see how that turns out. Everything this guy has was made, and bought, by someone else. Tarp. Sleeping bag. Shoes. A car to hitch hike from place to place. The dumpsters he eats out of. He can pretend he lives without money, but money was involved in everything he touches.

That's not my point. Your time is only worth what you are willing to trade for it. Some times it's going to work for money. Sometimes it's spending time to be with a woman. Multi-generational households is the traditional way, after all. We're just getting back to our roots. Edit: Like it or not the only reason America had the boom of the 50s is because the rest of the world was in shambles after WW2. Prior to that, most Americans lived in multi-generational homes. From the Pilgrims to the Pioneers. Unless you were single. Then you probably lived in a group home situation.

After being dragged to family weddings for a decade. Often traveling to the E. Coast. I finally had to explain to my ltr that I'm dating her not her family. That if they had a problem with me ditching out on events that I'd just rather not go. Her family runs on a combo of Catholic guilt and hyper-over-scheduling. It's exhausting.

Woman who has only ever dated men older than her wonders why only older men want to date her. We've watched the girls our age date older guys since we first started having interest in girls. He's more mature. Has a car. Has a job. When you're 14 you can't compete with a 16yr old. At 16 you can't compete with an 18yr old. At 18 you're getting skipped over for 21yr olds. So what do you do? Start dating girls younger than you. And the cycle repeats.

Monolithic structures like Christianity or Feminism provide a platform for extremists like Westboro or TERFs to speak. And both use their large social power to enshrine their beliefs into law. Just like christians have used their monolithic power to make anti-abortion laws, feminists have used their monolithic power to push things like the Duluth Model.
/r/MensRights09/02/21 05:58 PM

Point is, they are using the same playbook. Without all of Christianity Westboro wouldn't have it's platform to speak it's hate. They both are looking to control the thoughts and actions of others. One's just been around a lot longer.

There are fat competitive eaters. They even win. But the guys/girls who are the best are mostly skinny. Look at photos of the July 4th Nathan's Hotdog eating contest. The guy under the "70" sign has won for the last decade. The guy before him was a 150lb Japanese dude.

To eat a lot you have to stretch out your stomach. Fat builds up around your internal organs. Working like a girdle constraining your stomach. So, the more fat a person carries around the less they can stretch their stomach.

Women are given better grades in primary/secondary school. A myriad of "female only" scholarships. They are entering and graduating college at a higher rate then men. It's ok to have seperate spaces for men and women. I host a men's retreat at a nice house in a vacation area. Society doesn't allow men to open up around women. The peanuts aren't for protein. They are more like a small appetizer to get your stomach going. It helps trick your brain into feeling full sooner. Which makes you eat less for dinner. This is for losing weight. I get plenty of protein from my daily diet that I don't need a shake.

This has the bonus of shortening your time at the gym. You will still want to count calories as you don't want to eat too much and just gain fat. Cut out as much sugar as you can and focus …

Just to clarify. Protein shakes are a substitute for or an addition to your regular diet. If you are working out really hard and need to boost your calorie intake protein shakes are ok, but I would still avoid them. There are so many far better ways to get protein. When trying to lose weight the only "tried and true" way is to eat less and exercise more. You must be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Problem is, when you workout hard you feel hungrier. You can trick your body into feeling full…

Now you're getting to the heart of the matter. We are adults and that means we need to learn proper communication. Semantics matter and this is where our expectations are implied.
