1	Concerning the events in Iran Well, it's not black and white, right? The punching down on men aspect of a Hijab is certainly not something created by women in the Quran or the Hadiths. It's something that was predicated and further enforced by men. The more specific answer is that the socialization of men at every economic level supports some form of toxic masculinity. 6	Concerning the events in Iran Symbols generally never remain static. For a lesser example, an upside down cross used to represent the Cross of St. Peter and nowadays is seen as anti-Christian. For a more extreme example, the Swastika was appropriated by the Nazi party. The Hijab in Iran is the same way. Formerly, it was seen as a symbol of religious freedom when it was banned - now, it is seen as a point of oppression when it is forced.
